How Big is the 'Rise of the Resistance' Star Destroyer at Disney?

- One of the more breathtaking moments of Disney's "Rise of the Resistance" attraction at Galaxy's Edge is stepping into a First Order Star Destroyer hangar bay. If that's full scale, then how big is the rest of the Star Destroyer in relation to Walt Disney World and Disneyland? Thanks to Panod for the video suggestion!

I wonder how often they dust the stormtroopers in the hangar.
I mean, I wonder how often the stormtroopers have to polish their armor.
If it's anything like polishing boots in the military, then I'd say at least daily.
My question is if the attraction's size is accurate? I'd bet it's scaled down somewhat, which would scale the entire ship down somewhat.
It’s absolutely scaled down, considering the fact the the hangar bay the IT-S shuttle is captured in is on the same floor as the AT-AT walkers, and the vehicles only travel up the height of a walker to reach the command bridge. Also, if you look at a layout of the attraction, there’s definitely a bit of cheating going on, as the windows in the command bridge are pressed right against the corner of the AT-AT room.
Thank you so much Rob for making so many interesting and high quality videos. You have covered so many interesting topics!
I am SO glad I got to experience Rise of the Resistance right before the restrictions back in February of 2020. I’m going back in a week for 8 days 🙌
HAVE FUN
@@Eric_Ramirez_Gaming_101 I appreciate that. Thank you so much 👍
I want to go back in time, kidnap Walt, and make him ride ROTR
Secretly, that’s everyone’s dream. Totally agree.
I always enjoy Rob’s answers, even when I never would have thought to ask the question, but this is actually one I’ve sort of wondered about!
Spent an hour and a half in the hanger bay one time because of some problems. it was pretty awesome.
That was a fun video. I love scale comparisons, because it's hard for the human brain to really conceptualize visual scale like that without context, so providing the context of the maps really helped outline how cartoonishly massive these ships are supposed to be. Wild!
THIS IS SO GREAT
I wonder how big the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel will be?
I think you would call the 'width' of a Star Destroyer the beam rather than wing-span, since the convention seems to be to use nautical terminology?
That's a great video! Thanks for using metric system!
I actually wrote a medium length story about the first order invading earth. Coincidentally General Hux is the only named Star Wars character with a prominent role and much of command is taken over by “Admiral Nedrud” and that the Italian Air Force was able to take down a Star Destroyer called the Solace of Vrogas Vas.
As you might of guessed Admiral Nedrud is imagined to be Edward Norton but in not on the Vorgas. The captain was actually based on my old math teacher I liked.
Always love a good Rob Plays vid!
I got to experience this in December 2020 at disneyworld.
Story time about this situation:
My gf and I got in luckily when we checked the app to join the virtual queue before it got filled up. We joined within seconds of it being posted. (As it told us to check back at a specific time so we were prepared).
After we kept going on other rides, we noticed a 5 minute counter per party for when it was mine and my gfs time to get on the ride. So we were able to do the math ahead of time. This made us cut some things short and we ended up waiting for hours in starwars galaxy edge because the counter was no longer doing 5 minute timers between parties, it slowed down big time.
We wanted to go do Muppet 3d vision and didn't realize it was right around the corner of starwars galaxy edge and we also didn't want to miss this ride if we were on another or too far away or in the Muppet 3d vision show. So we kept waiting and this waiting we did was the worst experience of my life because it was so boring and we wanted to be doing things but not miss the ride and I wanted her and I to go on every single ride which we were able too other than Muppet 3d vision. I was very stressed the whole time waiting and that made my gf stressed
So now we are going back to disneyworld 2 days and Universal 2 days and ill 100% make sure to take her to Muppet 3d vision this time.
I got to experience this back in January. It was worth it.
Preach
Was it though?...
Experienced this for the first time last week. Went in completely blind not knowing anything about the attraction as I've purposely kept myself away from spoilers.
It may not the best "ride", but hands down the it's the best immersive attraction I've ever experienced.
Very cool and ORIGINAL vid brotha.
I love this channel.
Though I continually worry you'll run out of topics... and then you don't :p
Great vid Rob! Nice fusion if topics close to.my heart.... WDW/SW 🥰👌🏼
Imagine the pumbling situation of these ships.
While I may not be a big fan of Disney world. This ride is freakin awesome and I love your channel Rob.
I whant on it 5 times in a row
I really hope that Disney expands Galaxy's Edge into a full blown Star Wars land that includes content from every movie. I would love to see "shift changes" throughout the day. A third of the day could be clone troopers patrolling with Jedi, next could be the original Stormtroopers and Darth Vader and finally the sequel trilogy troopers led by Kylo Ren. IMO there are no downsides to expanding the concept of Galaxy's Edge.
you need to become an imagineer, stat because these are solid ideas.
were the Star Wars Ewoks Forest? they Just don't have it in Disney Land in Califoria?
Wow. Just wow!
10/10 I love this video.
Very good - thanks
I'm obsessed! This is so cool!
I love your videos. .:)
Fascinating
I always wonder how much fireworks cost disney
How big is the spaceship hotel if it were the whole thing?
Neat video
Thanks.
Before I watch I will guess that it is maybe like the size of It's a Small World
The REAL question is how in the heck did the Empire and the First Order get those massive ships out of a planet's atmosphere?
I would have assumed they built them in space to begin with, but we see one in atmosphere in Rogue One, so I guess anything's possible.
Lol that's no squad. It's either a large platoon or a small company (can't really tell how many there are from the vid)
Heck yeah
Me: I know how big that Star Destroyer is.
Narrator: She was wrong.
OMG!
An interesting comparison, but also a reminder of how frustrating the sequel films are. Why does the First Order have these massive ships and how can they afford them?
It's a way of just artificially raising the stakes because the leadership of Lucasfilm couldn't be bothered to write an actual story, opting instead to copy and paste elements of the original trilogy.
Tbf in Star Wars the strategy has always been go make everything bigger. That was the case before Disney bought it
@@abrandenburg10 Yeah, Lucas did in the original trilogy. Reuse the death star, but just make it bigger... a star wars tradition. 😎
@@TitoTimTravels just look at the expanded universe. All kinds of stuff just getting bigger
That's a lot of walking...
Whenever I read a book and they say a ship is multiple kilometers long, it just tells me... the writer must be American and have no real idea how far a kilometer actually is. (and I say that an American ha ha) 😎
They should have had Universal design the entire land for them. Then, they wouldn't be losing money on it.
This video is better than the Sequel and prequel trilogies combined!
21 seconds late. Smdh. But gotta love spoilers
I love these videos. They are well researched and presented. One quick suggestion though, and that would be to use American distance measurements. It’s easy to relate to yards (100 yards in a football field) or feet (90 feet to first base), but with foreign measurements I don’t have any idea how far a kilometer is. I guess I could use a conversation calculator but usually I’m driving when I listen to your videos. Anyway, keep up the good work!
While I didn't really think a ride could have spoilers before, Rise of the Resistance definitely changed my mind about that. This video's title kinda walks the line on that, but I think it's okay. However the video just jumps into spoilers from the start without warning the viewer that there's any real possibility for spoilers.
I was so glad that I had a chance to ride it spoiler-free, since the experience the first time of not knowing what's about to happen is just next-level immersion. Rob, I caution you to be more mindful about stuff like this going forward.
It's an interesting video though. Being someone who experienced it, I really appreciated the size comparisons that you made. It gives some really interesting perspective.
I just wish you would have been more vague about how the ride shows you the star destroyer or given some kind of warning before saying those details.
Love your videos Rob. Will you do one on the ghost carriage outside of the haunted mansion? I’ve heard so many times that it belongs to the late Brigham Young. I’m a former cast member and a practicing Latter Day Saint (AKA Mormon), and can say it’s simply a myth (albeit a fun one), but it’d be fun to see some history on where the myth came from and where the carriage actually came from.
Short video...no compensation here.🥴
Metric system…😣
You forgot Victory Class Star Destroyers. Also the name of the Super Star Destroyer Class ship is The Executor. That is not the name of the class but the ship's name.
When are they going to fix the virtual que system for this ride? It remains the only ride in all 4 parks that you can spend all day at the park and not be able to ride or even get on the virtual que and have to go home without riding. There's no alternative to the virtual que and going over to customer service to complain about not being able to get on the virtual que is not going to result in them helping you. I've postponed 3 trips now. I did one last year, couldn't get a spot on the virtual que on either of the 2 days I spent in the HS park, and since that has not been fixed I have cancelled 3 subsequent trips.
First!
Rob, I let the “CE” or what ever you used for “BC or AD” in another video you made, but this is just silly. Why use meters for U.S.A. Viewers? If your trying to be worldly just use both for us hicks here in the real world instead of being lofty in a fun topic. Stay fun, not decisive.
