Hey guys! In this challenge run video series I try to see if I can beat Final Fantasy X-2 by using the worst classes available to us!
This run has a lot of ups and downs and can't wait to share my experience of this game with everyone!

My favorite part of this game is that in ffx yuna was dancing to cleanse death and in ffx-2 she dances to preserve life
I think it makes a lot of sense that they would want to focus on having fun after 1000 years of Sin.

100%! people don't really get how well this game captures the feels of being liberated from consant fear and despair. The narrative of This game is hugely underrated and builds on ffX very well and respects the first game fully.
Watching pain go from schmooving slowly to dead on the floor over and over again is hilarious for some reason

For whatever reason, a lot of plot details are reserved for optional content. If you go through the tedious effort of 100%ing the game, you learn a lot more about Paine and what happened between her and the boys.
I genuinely like Paine's story and, frankly, the whole FFX-2 story in general. It's just such a shame 100%ing this game is full of myriads of little traps. From skipping cutscenes to tuning off camera spheres before the scene is over (I know the cue is music getting louder, but still). It's so unforgiving it's ridiculous at times
I find this a bit annoying- understand if they are doing this for secondary character that everyone loves or something but having to 100 percent the game just so that I can learn about Paine's past is a bit, for a lack of better term, unethical? Like she's a part of the main team I don't get why her storyline gets sidelined this hard

The way this game is set up to sell strategy guides is so scummy. Square was notorious for this in this era though. Like FF7 til FF13 when online guides took off the physical guide was an expectation for the games it was wild.
@@uraninezak holy shit you were right I never thought about it- I had to borrow my friend's phone book of a strategy guide that he bought from overseas cause it wasnt available locally just so that I can get 80+%. I remember stopped playing it for the 100% completion because I had to return the book to my friend

I also used to have that issue of hoarding stuff in RPGs "just in case." The way I ended up training myself out of it was by remembering that anything in my inventory when the credits roll is also technically wasted, so I might as well get some value out of it along the way.
I need to adopt this mindset!
Paines Story actually gets a lot of development. The sad part is most people never see it unless they are going for 100% because its all optional. Needing all 10 crimson spheres witch requires doing the first 40 floors of the Via Infinito. The crimson spheres themselves tell her story then the Den of Woe that they unlock tells what happens to everyone and how they died and almost leads to YRP killing each other. The only required bit of Paine's story is the sphere given to you right before the final boss where the group elects Nooj as there captain.
You can tell that the Paine part the writers had a much grander plan, but because of budget/time constrains, they coudn't make it all to launch
the slow zoom in on rikku's face in the dancing mini game kills me
@8:54 I have never related to anything as much as this. Yuna's La La La-ing gets stuck in my head on an almost weekly basis, and I haven't even played the game since mid 2017.
I lost it at Leblanc screaming "Awwha! THERE!"

I really hope you remember you can use Garment Grids for all kinds of stuff for the next chapter, because the Zalamander fight could've been a lot easier with the Heart of Flame garment grid you got back in chapter 1. It gives you fire eater when you equip it.
In general, Garment Grids can be so op in this game. I really love the Helios Guard garment grid because you can get Auto Protect from it with just one dress sphere change. Some garment grids also let you use abilities from other dress sphere classes, but I guess that would be kinda cheating for the challenge you're doing. :D
The skit was everything. I get these intrusive thoughts on the DAILY and the Yuna "La La LA, La la la LAAAAAAAAAA" is the prime offender.
The whole "Help" section got me laughing so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Something that bothers me is why the concert was not on Luca (you got an stadium) or at least in the calm lands (a giant field with now less monster encounters). No, just throw everyone in a dull rocky and deadly electric zone for style points.

I'm not sure why they didn't use the calm lands, maybe bad memories, since that's where she fought Sin, but my thought was maybe she didn't want to use the stadium because Leblanc did it? Also, maybe Shinra could tap into the thunder towers for some reason.
I always assumed it was because the Thunder Plains was neutral ground, equal distance between MRR and Bevelle.
Been loving the series and the gimmicks you do to make the playthroughs more challenging and refreshing.
Tbh, I commend you for even giving the time and patience for this game. While I appreciate the wacky, fun and more lively take on Spira. What gives me the eek from returning to this specific Final Fantasy is the Open World structure and how conveluted some of the tasks are to get completion points with Chapter 4 being the worst

There is a scene in Bevelle at the end of Chapter 3 before going to Djose Temple to face Ixion after clearing out the other main story temples (convoluted I know) where there is some huge exposition about Paine and the boys, but it’s easily missable. If you haven’t seen it before look it up! I can’t believe they made it missable! It really is necessary or Paine’s story does seem like an afterthought. Then, getting all 10 crimson spheres allows you to tie up her story in the den of woe in Chapter 5. Just RUclips the scenes lol it makes it all make sense. I wish it was all mainline content and not side content.
I'm so sad next episode is your last for this one. Are you thinking of doing 12? I think there's a lot of comedy potential there.
There is a lot of side quests in chapter 5 though..
Or a lot of quick dead end if he did none of the requirement XD

I've been loving seeing you do this challenge run for FFX-2! Maybe something that will help you a little in combat is to have the active ATB gauge be set to wait mode instead of active in the settings. This will make it so that you don't have to rush on YRP when you select skills because the combat fill gauge will "pause" while you're trying to choose a skill.

if you want another challenge run, you can do the New Threat mod for the Steam port of FF7, which has a lot of changes, including being able to specialize the characters with "sub-classes", which some of them have some pretty hilarious names like Slum Drunk (good luck figuring out who that's for lol)
My bet is Aerith being the Slum Drunk
This is one of my favorite FF games. I completely understand the criticism, the plot is non sensical and there's lots of fanservice that I'm not a fan of it, but damn, the gameplay is so good. The little twist to the classical job system is nice (thought I'm missing some jobs like Monk, Red Mage and Mystic Knight) and it's one of the best FF games that correctly uses the ATB mechanic.

At the end of ff7, Cloud tells everyone to go out and go back to their family and friends. Find that reason for wanting to stop Sephiroth and come back in a few days if you found that reason. If you don't come back then that is fine, he won't hold it against them. This chapter seems like it is trying to do that but much worse.
oh my, i totally get that scene being totally 2000 style, remember back then with my friend we used to play this game and we were so lost we just assumed it was a translation problem or something like it cant be this silly we are not understanding this!!

Man, I love everything in this game that people typically complain about. It's such a fun and weird ride. Granted, as an unironic otaku the thing was literally made for me so I guess that makes sense.

I feel like this episode you went way too hard about the plot/decisions in the game 😅😅 at the end of the day this game was about the aftermath or sun and what everyone’s up to afterwards and the conflict that arises. They had like two concerts I don’t think it ruins the plot/storyline of the game 🤣😅. love the vids so far tho 🥰

The dancing mini game part made me laugh so hard! Forgot how ridiculous that part is. Literally just button mash everything to win.
But seriously, Chapter 4 was my least favorite in the game. Watching the Commspheres was such a chore to get 100% completion.

For those armoured creatures at 10:30 you need to hold out until it opens its chest to do its storm cannon move and that’s when its defence is 0 for you to damage it. Keep spamming sing that increases attack to increase Yuna’s attack stat to max to deal even more damage. When it closes its chest physical attacks do nothing. You can use shell to reduce the damage from storm cannon but only real way to damage it is to wait until it opens its chest then spam holy kogoro with dirty dancing active

I personally liked the dress sphere system (job class) it just sucked that most dresses never found a use except niche situations. I never really found a point to using Warrior, Thief, Gunner, Berserker, Trainer, Samurai (aside from it's mp damage attack.), Black mage (Osmose for mp drain for super bosses), Festival, White mage, and Blue mage i think it was? Most of the super bosses/side content you just used Dark Knight, Alchemist, and Mascot. Of course their all viable some just make the fights much harder than others. Also forgot the ultimate dress spheres rarely get used late game (the unique ones each girl has.)
Aside from being embarrassed during the "Massage" mini-game because anyone NOT in the room would think you were watching... adult content from her moans. The thunder plains cutscene was the best cutscene in the game personally, was even surprised that they had the sounds of the guns actually go "bang" during the song instead of just muting it. As strange as half the story was and tedious some of the optional content was, was still a decent game. I think what helped this game out personally was new game+ so you could actually use the later classes earlier.

Comm spheres are the reason I never tried a second time for 100%. I'm 100% certain they are also the reason I didn't get 100% on my first 100% attempt.

Is it worth making someone else the trainer class? I remember one of them having a bird, so hopefully that won't get stuck on attacks! Then you could swap Yuna to Whitemage or songstresses.
So Paine has the bird apparently and it has the ability to heal and use esuna too. Plus a bunch of status attacks ( including death). Might be worth a try.
I remember always having Paine on trainer because the bird can just carry enemies out of battle and the animation(or rather lack of one) makes it hilarious

Yeah you're right. The plot sucks. It needs more "fighting a final boss several times, each time getting harder before the next disc. Then, when you finally kill him, the 'real' final boss appears and it's some uber multidimensional god/demon bent on destroying/controlling the multiverse".
But for real though, I can't get enough of the usual FF storylines.
Why is gun mage not in the worst the only good thing is analize like what
With gun mage you can break the game in the first chapter... I mean it's one of the worst dresspheres in the game stat-wise but blue bullet spells are broken..

+ they are in Zanarkand because that is the whole story. Lenne was summoner from Zanarkand and Vagnagun was Bevelles weapon and bot were in a war.
also also: the whole story makes a lot of sense and is a natural continuation of FFX. It's Lunas story, and is unable who lost her purpose and is acting like Rikku to find herself.
