Their market cap is 2.5 billion. Sure, they are big, but that's only 2% the size of Sony and and .1% the size of Microsoft or Nvidia. They're no megacorporation.
I prefer text input over voice input (multiple reasons: mic quality, accents, language barrier, background noise, simply not being able to speak for whatever reason). But this technology, wow. Definitely very cool!
You realize that they are encouraging you to do or ask specific things ( you may have to to proceed) , almost like choosing from pre-made dialog options... man that sounds familiar...
It's odd that so many people are slapping generative chat bots to an NPC template in a video game and everyone claps. Wake me up when the AI is used to actually make AI behavior smart, not just reactively respond to what I say to it.
This can really transform video games. The most annoying thing about these type of demos like the Nvidia demo is the delay on the response. I know it will improve.
It's cool but i feel it takes much more effort, i hope they give us the possibility to use dynamic dialogue options, also i wonder how much these ai games should focus on dialogue or just use ai to improve other aspects of the game like npc behavior instead of a big focus on dialogue and relationship with npcs, because as cool as it might be, some people aren't interested in talking games.
yeah this is the same as click a dialogue with an extra step. It is not natural, people ask questions based on things they are interested in. Player should be made interested in asking question based on his immersion into the story and not because it is part of the quest line
It baffles me so many people seem to like and want this. I would much rather have dialogue still written and voiced by real people and let the AI do all the gameplay stuff, like using battle tactics reactively or predicting what the player is about to do.
It’s really cool. I hope it’s not inconsequential and that characters like Bloom remembers your conversations to an extent over the course of the game and make allusions to it.
The future for kids is looking bright why bother having really friends when you can make NPC friends and not leave the house. Consuming more products from mega corps.
Just imagine if the NPCs in GTA6 have this, like a LIVE mode that subscribes to current events, and the NPC using their personality will tailor their reactions to the world
Man the inflection is so flat or robotic half or more of the time, and the delay in reponse is hilarious. I hope this tech improves fast as hell because it could be so awesome.

OpenAI's Real-Time API shows how important it is to have human-level response times. That kind of interaction in video games will be possible soon!
