Boy am I jealous! Can't wait to se it fly. Outstanding work guys!
4:30 I wondered why you were wearing ear protection considering it was dead quiet and then.. 5:30.
what a huge accomplishment to get that nose/glareshield/windshield section done! so satisfying to pull the protective film off just to see how it looks, wow.
Your Living my dream here.
Congrats to you two for such a wonderful father and son project!
Thank you so much!
Great progress guys. Makes me think of how amazing WW2 production rates were.
So true… Thanks Paul!
I’m enjoying following the build. Question: it looked like the cover panel and glare shield were riveted in place over the top of the avionics compartment, how do you access them later for repairs?
Thanks for your comment and for following the build! We designed the instrument panel to be completely removable. There are perimeter screws and then it pulls out towards the pilot so it can be worked on in the cockpit or removed entirely. There's an earlier video on this design: ruclips.net/video/MTfik9YRqJg/видео.htmlsi=TWlRHvfaP1CXDNVj

Beautiful building!
Thank you!
So. Great build. 1st question. When he finishes college and moves who gets the plane? Does Dad or Son? When he finishes school will he go and be an officer in the military. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years. That is why I asked that question. My wife is from Maine and we will be moving up to New Hampshire next year to be close to family. Good luck with the build. Take care
Con el parabrisas puesto parece, un poco más, un avión.
El Camino se hace a base de pequeños pasos.🤩🤩🤩
Eso es muy cierto. ¡Se está poniendo emocionante!
Just found this in my feed today!
The design and construction of the windshield was genius, and highly realistic, as I wondering how this was accomplished.
Edited to add:
Does an inspector have to sign off at any particular stage of build, or is it inspected at final assembly?
Keep up the great work!
Experimental Amateur Built aircraft are inspected prior to flight by an FAA inspector. That is when they receive their airworthiness certificate. Thanks for watching!
If you need to work behind the interment panel latter on how are you going to get to it with the top panel fastened on?

G,day Jeff and Jake from Sydney Australia. The P-51 is looking great
I have three questions;
1. Do the aluminium panels overlap or butt together?
2. Are with windshields acrylic PETG, polycarbonate or other?
3. Is it only rubber gasket U channel and silicone sealant? And, do the rivets go through the clear acrylic sheet?
P.s the interview with the Navy seal then Astanaught, was brilliant: what a career.

Hey there John. Thanks for the feedback on the show. He really is an amazing person. More amazing people to come!
1) Some panels overlap and others butt together depending on if the angle of the skin is changing. We have a butt splice on the top cowl between skins "B" and "C" because the angle changes a little there. For reference, "A" is the skin over the engine compartment.
2) The windshield glass is Lexan polycarbonate. Tough stuff...
3) It's only the rubber gasket as a seal. The Lexan is sandwiched between the aluminum windshield frame and an inner doubler panel. We glued the seam where the gasket ends meet. Other than that, we want it to be as easy as possible to replace the glass. Seems pretty water tight as far as I can tell around the glass. Every other part of the plane...not so much. ;-)
So how much was this build again? 😳
Do titan pre drill the kits now?
No. This is our final assembly stage after making and fitting the parts and n earlier videos.
Front glazing-bird-proof?
It isn't. But then again, I don't know of any GA aircraft that really are bird proof. It's a trade off.
why are those skins not bonded before riveting?
All the skins on the nose and sides (and the panel top D skin) are bonded before riveting. We didn't show it all in detail in the video to keep the time down. The windshield frames are not bonded to make replacement of the glass easier.
