Verdun, somme and passchendaele were truely a special kind off hell in my personal opinion not even the worst of ww2 battles compare to the horrors of ww1 trenchwarfare in the mud

My grandfather was a machine-gun belt feeder in the Argonne Forest. I can't imagine what he saw.

My great grandfather was a rifleman with the 26th Division during the same campaign, as well as the battle for St. Mihiel. When WW2 rolled around he adamantly refused to let his son, my great uncle, volunteer for the service. He ended up being drafted anyways.

The battle in the Argonne Forest is creepy as fuck like the battle in Bastogne at ww2. This Forest battles are hell and unreal to me. My biggest fear is to be in a battle like this. Never ever we should kill our Brothers again for Politics interests.

Ich hab mir die Gräben um Verdun angesehen, auch Fort Douaumont und Fort Vaux, immer noch beklemment, wenn man sich vorstellt, was da drinnen abging, Gänsehaut pur.

This is a desperate outcry to deliver us from the abyssic depths of war.
But its just a merely glimpse of whats still upon us.
    Death Triumphant

This song is crushingly heavy and incredibly depressing at the same time.
My great grandad wrote about being stationed at le mort homme with the yankee division in 1918 and he described it even two years after the battle of 1916 as the most horrific place he had ever seen in his life.
