New Cars Nobody Wants in 2024

- After years of limited supply and rapid turnover, new cars are now languishing on dealer lots. The average new car sells in 54 days, while new EVs take 70.6 days and new hybrids sell in 49.5 days, according to a recent study by iSeeCars.
The analysis 463,000 new and used car sales between October 2023 and March 2024 found a 21.6 percent slowdown in average days on market for new cars compared to a 30.5 percent increase for used cars. The study also identified which automakers had the fastest- and slowest-selling new and used cars.
“Between the gradual drop in new car pricing and consistent slow-down in their sales pace, it’s like watching a giant machine slowly wind down,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “New cars are still more expensive than before Covid, and they’re still selling at a reasonable rate, but the pendulum has clearly swung the other direction.”

I miss the old Jeep Cherokee box design from the late 90s early 2000 era. Put that 4.0 litre tank of an engine back into it and it would be the fastest selling vehicle on the market.
For sure. My rule of thumb back in the day was if an engine was designed in the 1960’s and lived through to the 90’s or early 2000’s then it was a good engine
Well the average age of vehicles on the road is over 10 years old so a lot of people are just keeping their vehicles because it's just way more cost effective.
Newer cars are expensive, not always reliable and touchscreen.
12.6 years. In states like CA newer cars come with huge yearly registration fee $1000 per year becoming common
Dodge hornet says hold my berr
There is a reason everybody wants a Toyota or Lexus hybrid !!
I owned 3 Jeeps. They fell apart just after the warranty ran out. I owned Porsches that were extremely reliable. I now own an 8 year old 4Runner with 11k miles. Old age has it's beneficial logic.
I’m surprised there is no mention of RAV4.
The Jeep Cherokee was discontinued .. so in March , Jeep dealers only had few in stock .. some dealers were totally out of stock and the ones with a few on their lots didn't want to discount this model. The Cherokee is a different model than the "Grand Cherokee".. which is not being discontinued and is one of Stellantis best selling models ... and the best selling Jeep.
Keep in mind some of the high dollar vehicles shown as fast movers are much smaller sales numbers than Toyota for example.
The Jeep Cherokee has been discontinued so there's just a few leftover 2023's to unload.
Yes, the remaining Cherokees are old and outdated. E.g., they still have Uconnect 4 even though Uconnect 5 has been out for many years. The prices are still too high to compensate for getting what's practically a used car.
Excuse me? The Grand Cherokee on the Jeep web site has one model that starts under 40,000 dollars and about 6 models that start over 70,000 dollars AND THAT'S WHY THEY'RE NOT SELLING. RESEARCH MUCH???
maybe Jeep can't sell the Cherokee because the price has doubled in the last few years.
Unsubstantiated claims? Where the heck have you been? It’s been on public news, also the guys on Car Edge, Zack & his dad were also talking about faked MPG claims made by not only Toyota, Nissan, even Honda was mentioned. Hell the CEO of Toyota was talking about stepping down. I’m old enough to remember when seeing a foreign made vehicle on the streets in the USA was unusual. The most numerous when I was a teen were VW bugs & they were so limited on top end people mostly drove them in town.
The part of the equation left out is the # of each vehicle available for sale.
Is the slowest selling car really and truly the best deal? I doubt it.
A used Cherokee turbo four sat on our nearby CDJR lot for about six months. It was gorgeous with the dark red and the ski gray leather. No sunroof too! I would’ve bought it had I been able but they cleared out their lot so it may have gone to auction.
I like the way you display the information that you are talking about.
Cherokee was very popular some years ago. But then, people noticed how "reliable" they were.
I am surprised Alfa’s are selling. I have seen end of year Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s at 25% off MSRP the past two years. Still over $70k but apparently quite the driver’s car, assuming it can stay on the road.
They're really good cars. Got a Giulia and absolutely content.
Price is $20k to high !
I ordered a new Sienna in April of 2022. It was delivered 51 weeks later.
Agreed my 2011 Nissan Sentra n 2014 Chevy Cruze had silent cabin den my 2023 Corolla
My neighour has Cherokee and he has 7 grand worth warranty work on his in the first year .
People have been showing brand new 2022 dodge challengers still sitting on lots not being sold
Remember this stuff only applies to the US The world stats are quite different!
how is the Dodge hornet not on this list? I thought the hornet had about 400 days of inventory?
Lexus GX460 and Jeep Cherokee are no longer in production in 2024... What are they doing on your list?
I find these stats not very useful and suspect. Many of the vehicles listed sell for over 100k. How many units are actually being sold at these prices? Also, no overpriced Ford, GMC, and Dodge pickups on this list. Again, very suspect to me.
The data doesn’t care about how you feel. Sorry it doesn’t conform to beliefs but that is the data. It’s not based upon the stats but actual dealer inventory. It’s not being manipulated to confound your personal sensibilities. Sorry it disappoints you.
All these stats mean NOTHING to most people!
So what?
Thanks for watching!
Stop your lying lots are full and there’s no high demand enough with bs of how fast they’re selling. There’s new cars from 2022, why would that be? Nobody is trying to pay outrageous prices that boat long sailed. 🤥
And yet, dealers are selling vehicles everyday. You may be correct that dealer inventories near are high. High inventories and some vehicles have limited supply are not mutually exclusive concepts.
It’s all supply & demand…
All the vehicles on both lists are overpriced 😂
Just a thinly vailed infomercial! 🤔
Yes I remember the brief comment on Honda at beginning but it didn’t make any of his lists which surprised me. My son-in-law is a Honda salesman locally & they can’t keep used models on the lot, they’re gone as fast as they’re traded in. I mentioned the controversy about Japanese auto companies fudging on the MPG’s & falsifying crash test results since he seemed over-weighted on Toyota products. I know they’ve been reliable over the years but so have Honda’s. The above news was highlighted on national news & RUclips channels.
Most people are doing their research and finding out that anything Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge are not reliable and are overpriced.
The reason why the jeep Cherokee does not sell it is a shiny car.
Cars that nobody wants in 2024.
That would be any EV then.
Except for the Corolla those are all expensive vehicles. Where are people getting the money to buy them?
Re., EV'S, mes amis, ALL of them, vehicles of a Fool's Paradise, are but a fanciful dream...a Wet Dream.
I tried your page. Didn't find a Hyundai plug-in hybrid in my area. I'll try again another time.
Ok.. I hope you find something soon!
@@everymandriver Thanks. I'm sure my patience will overcome.
The poor and the middle class can no longer buy new cars period. The way this is going everyone in Arizona will have to move out of state so they can keep piling up all of these new cars in their state !!
The Corolla is a great car for a compact but the ride quality not as good as my midsize 12' Altima or Camry for that matter. Going to keep my 12' Altima which has been bulletproof in it's 13th year on the road and that includes the ORIGINAL CVT transmission. If Nissan makes such a bad CVT transmission then why has mine lasted 13 years and still running good?
How many miles have you put on your Altima in these past almost 13 years of ownership?
Too bad you're not a mechanic or you would understand what the word "anecdotal" means.
@@actually5004 well I’ve heard other stories of these CVTs lasting when taken care of, his isn’t the only one
People always say the GM 4L60E is a bad transmission but I’ve had 3 vehicles with that transmission. One was at 430,000 when I sold it, the next is currently at 330,000 miles and my lowest mileage one is at 260,000 currently. When I see all the people talking about it being a bad transmission I can only think they’re absolutely abusing it or something, who knows
@@CarGeek360 I'm sure, when driven short distances in cool weather across flat ground at low speeds and low loads they last forever because those are the conditions the engineers design for. Every car will do that, but god forbid you need to pull a U-Haul trailer (they will install the hitch anyway).
Tesla days on lots? 0. They are sold before they ship.
There still sitting around just at the factory, they don't all sit around till you order one
Good data! Thanks!
Not every American that is looking to buy a vehicle wants to spend $20,000 or more. I really do not want to finance anything, you are a slave then to the lender. I just want to buy a reliable used vehicle that costs about $4,000 - $8,000 tops. Even if I have to spend a grand or two 6 months later to have the brakes done or new tires.
Any reliable used vehicle will cost you $10k total, meaning that any 5k car you buy will also need 5k, or an 8k car would only need 2k. I just did what you did- payed $8k cash for a minivan and it needed tires, condenser, brake pads rotors and fluids, engine and cabin filter, wipers, and an alignment- that would have been 2k if I would walked into an NTB as a clueless customer. If you want to spend less on cars, turn a wrench.
I don't care if you gave me an EV for free. I'd never touch it and sell it. BTW I used your search thing, I never got shown any prices. All I got was spammed emails and calls from dealerships.
You would never touch a brand new Tesla ? Keep it for 10 years, as its electric and battery systems are under warranty for 10 years, then sell it…
@@robertl.6919 Sell it to WHO?! Who is going to buy a 10 year old Tesla that needs a battery, can't be updated (features gone), and will eat tires and brakes every 10k?
Trick question, I'll buy it for $2k.
@@actually5004 You said “ gave me an EV for FREE”. So who cares how much you’d resell it 10 years later ?
@@actually5004
Cut the BS. Tesla brakes last 100k miles most of the time.
You don't even know why you don't want an EV. Maybe you can't handle the 0 to 100 kph in under 5 seconds or maybe it's too quiet for you. It's probably because you just don't understand. PS the battery is expected to over 300,000 klms long after your ICE car is dead
Neighbor down the street has a 2023 Cherokee. It spends half its time in his garage and the other half in the dealerships garage.
Jeep Cherokee for “only” 40 grand? You could get a 2020 Lexus GX460 and drive that headache free for about 15 years. Anytime I see a jeep Cherokee on the road, I just see a person who didn’t do their research.
Anytime I see a car, I just see an ignorant customer who didn't do their research. Catastrophic piston issues, KDSS steering into traffic, and interior that falls apart due to vegan leather on that Lexus, and I'll agree that the Cherokee is worse.
@@actually5004 Um, The GX550 has those issues, not the 460 (from 2010-2023) but I see your logic despite talking about a different model car that doesn’t have piston issues and KDSS to begin with.. Have a good weekend! 😄
Anytime I see someone drive a Lexus, I just see someone who overpaid for a Toyota.
@@656hookemhorns Lexus products have better fit/finish than their Toyota counterparts. I’ve owned both and there’s a CLEAR distinction in NVH, it’s not just a badge that you pay for.
Same could be said about Audi A3/A4 and the VW Passat. At the end of the day.. Lexus is still Toyota’s premium division, lol 😂
It’s weird they don’t sell the Land Cruiser Prado in the US. It looks identical to the GX460 even though it’s not as fancy. When I was in Africa they were all over the place
Top ten and I haven't even considered any of them for my new car. Been to about 20 stealerships the past few days. EVs are dominating the lots, they are running out of room to store the cars nobody wants.
Anyone recommend an SUV new under $30,000? I have a hyundai but it already has 30k and Ive had it for 4 years. I looked at Mazdas and the interior looked ridiculous. I looked at Rav4s but wasnt wowed. Any other Asian or European cars out there I can try?
Anyone who knows cars, like really knows cars. Not ones that reads brochures and manipulated reports, know they don't want anything new right now. EVs arent what they are stated to be and regular cars aren't what they used to be. You can keep the touchscreen and lcd guages, keyless entry, and push button starting and just give us basic reliability
In the UK dealers struggle to give away EV's.
Not willing to fiddle around with a plug-in hybrid. A regular hybrid - yes.
No desire to own an EV but Tesla is in a category of its own. They are aspirational, people view them as luxury prestige, like ICE BMWs, MBZs, Audis, ect
Maybe your world of aspirations but not the ones that works on them.😂BMW being notorious for crap and even worse being EVS. Same with the teslas cheaply made panel gaps misaligned, glitchy led lights that dont age well and then then the gimmicks that eventually wear out quite quickly. Then again, its easy to excite peoples small minds that dont pay attention closely. 😂
Toyota is heading for the wall at 100 m.p.h. What a mess of a company.
Every vehicle on you two lists have major problems. Software to engines. Then. Cost to repair. The Jeep. There is no way right now you even want to trust it. Extreme problems. My guess who is buying up the expensive ones. The only ones in America that have money and others have said it in Washington State. Illegal immigrants. Toyota had metal fillings in it's new engines. Recall on them. Yet. Known for the longest lasting engine. Both lists. Personally. What other channels are proving. I wouldn't buy. From price to problems.
I don’t know where you get your information from especially after all of the negative news about Toyota faking test results & Tundras blowing engines, you don’t have a single Honda product on any of your lists. Toyota & Lexus bias here.
Toyota faking test results? Please provide vetted, documentation when making such claims. A colleague has a 2023 Tundra with engine issues. Toyota is replacing the engine with a 100k warranty. They also provide him a loaner truck. The issue is serious but by most accounts (not internet rumors), Toyota is dealing with the problem. Unlike my personal experience with Ford and General Motors.
He mentioned Honda near the beginning. I have a Honda hybrid and it took me 2 months to find it. New 2024 CRV Sport Touring
@@Learnmoretoday59 Ford and GM can be so shady with their services. They like to just pretty much put band aids on a fix when I worked with both and hated it when someone had to come back. Toyota being a Japanese company and how they do service is another level of integrity. Absolutely nothing like those two because toyota usually makes it where you dont come back for service until after 3months or whatever mileage you are due for service. Although i will say they are starting to get off the rails with their new models. Hopefully they get back to the drawing board on their newer models. The new guy running toyota is not a good look.
I'll ride a bicycle or get a horse and buggy before I EVER buy an EV. NO bureaucrat or un elected person - OR elected person - who gets paid money to study "the climate" and determines that anything that has been happening throughout the history of this planet is changing one iota because of computable engines - again, for a nice sum of money, is ever going to dictate what I purchase and drive. We've only had "recorded" climate data for a few years (in relative terms) but we're going to change everything for a HUGE amount of money to bring down the temperature ONE degree in fifty years (totally unproven that it will have ANY effect anyhow). Whoever's running the world knows how STUPID most of the sheep in the world have become. That, other than the "small, but succinct" little detail of them being literally impossible to sustain is the reason why. LOL. It's the summer of 2024, and they're telling people to "conserve the usage of air conditioners" to avoid rolling brown outs or even black outs, but we have enough electricity to power tens of millions of EVs in six years? Mkay.
I'm pretty sure vehicles over 40k are out.
I am going to try and keep my 2012 VW for another 10 years
its the best economy ever and who cares about the interest rates. the admin says we can afford a $70k mid size SUV
Hell, No one wants a modern POS for 60-100grand, My 1997 Chevy C1500 Bought brand new for 16K out the door, will still blow away an 80k new chevy C1500.
I will never buy an EV! I will not drive one if someone pays me. They are trash and they destroy the planet.
This information is meaningless.
how to manipulate those stats- just dont register them as 'for sale' until you really need to....
