Thank you for this info - especially for a woman! I just purchased tires online from Sam's club and awaiting for them to arrive for the install. When they call me for my appointment I DEFINITELY will be inspecting them for the date before they're installed on the car. 😉
Yay my used tires are only 2-3 years old . I just two of them . How about using a slightly different size like 225 50 17 on an rim that had a 235 50 17 ? Sometimes have trouble finding the exact size. I know you can safely use a different size on one these numbers
Changing tire size can affect your speedometer. A 225 50 17 is a slightly smaller diameter than 235 50 17. The important thing is all 4 tires are the same size. Glad my video was helpful.
It won't be on the bead of the tire. It is only stamped on one side of the tire. Maybe check the other side? Perhaps they were imported? Hope you find it. Thanks for watching, and let me know what you find.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Greatly appreciated. 😃 FYI: My new tires bought in March of this year say 5323 (inside an oval), which is odd. I am not sure what it means exactly. I think it means my tires were manufactured last week of December of 2023?
@@shanersmechaniclife3164 that's possible, but like I said, there is also a US made tire, with no date. Also I doubt very much because it's a foreign made tire, they would be exempt from US regulations.
@@shanersmechaniclife3164 I liked and subd too! Discount Tire wouldn’t remove a screw and patch the hole, the tires look fine seriously plenty of tread, but they are from 2007. So I’m gonna change out in January.

Hope you get fresh tires. The places you need to watch out for are the used tire places and auto wreckers. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My neighbor had tyres fitted and i asked where she got them , i went with her and told them to change them , they were 7 years old not happy .
Selling 7 year old tires as new? Not good. Way to look out for your friends. You're a good person.
Appreciate this very useful information!
Your welcome. Thanks for watching.

@@shanersmechaniclife3164 Is it ok to have the same tire size but one brand on front wheels and another brand on the rear wheels?
Could the dot be on the lip of the tire where it seala? It's not on ether side wall of the tires. Cooper revolution tires.

I would say yes. I looked at the calendar and Dec 31st was on Sunday, the 1st day of the 53rd week. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good info. Thank You!

Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the great comment and for watching.
Interesting, I have just bought 4 new Duratracs, only 2 having the date code marked. What am I missing? 3 are made in US, other in Brazil.
Have you checked both sides, Brazil may not have the same regulations regarding dates as it's a DOT thing.

Very useful
I bought a tire online, I'm looking for the date like that but didn't found any info about it. Tsktsk
What is UA8V for date code?
5 years is the expiration date
Some customers aren't too happy when they find out the tires they just bought used to save money can't be repaired safely because they are too old.
It’s 10 years I believe.

Good video but too long , just go to the point directly
Thanks for watching and your input. I appreciate it.
It doesn't say 1998 it says 3 number
You didn’t explain how you verified when the tire is officially expired
Thanks for saving me the time from this BS
