    Wonderful video! That's enough information to keep somebody going for a month or two! Maybe a lifetime. :-)

    So funny! I was watching a video and a photo of Champs-Élysées came on and I immediately thought of a walk I took through there in the late 90's where I ran into Ayden Esen and we hung out for a little while and chatted and I thought to myself "i wonder why this is popping into my mind today?" and a few hours later came across this video!

    Hey Rick! It would be really cool if you could do one of these, but instead of famous pianists, do one taking a look at guitarists. Folks like Kurt Rosenwinkel, Julian Lage, Lage Lund and other modern players have alot of really interesting licks and lines I think you could take a look at.

    The most obvious thing about the Aydin Esen improvisation ove the F pedal is that he doesn't play an F natural once!

      This level of sight reading should be fairly easy. Maybe not prima vista material, but you don't have to perform it in front of an audience just yet. Study, improvement is certain

    One question, These guys are from the other planet, but why are not mentioned here both, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea?? Por do you think they are not at this level? It's just a doubt!! Thanks anyway for all the vids!!!

    Rick: "Hey Dylan, come here. I need you to transcribe something for me for a video lesson..." Dylan (with his superhuman musical powers) listens and transcribes all examples in under five minutes. Rick: "Thanks Buddy I appreciate it." Dylan: "No problem Dad. Next time give me something difficult. This was easy and boring..." Hahahaha

    fwhy does your studio background always look green screened? are they?! lol - just looks weird for some reason always - never can put my finger on if it's a camera's Bokeh or what.

    • @sclogse1
      @sclogse1 3 года назад

      No bokeh. Room is pretty much in focus. He has separate light on him that separates him from the tungsten lighting in the room.

  • @isaac1439
    @isaac1439 7 лет назад +2

    if you invite aydin to sounding off again ask him if he thinks in scales and modes when he improvise or he just play by instinct

    Since there is no any substantial harmony to compare against those melodic lines, except some isocrat bass, I don't see the scope of modal analysis as they are mostly interesting for their architectural condur rather than their inspiring melodic line.

    Hate Brad's line. Kenny's lines are perfection. Aiden? OMG sounds almost as dreadful, for jazz, as Brad, but so much better than Brad in a pure music sense. Aiden reminds me of Tristano.
