    You made a wonderful video. Thank you.
    All my seeds have sprouted. About 50+ of them. Moving them to each their own pots, today.
    Thank you for your information!

    I have the miniature variety and the leaves are pale. I am wondering what the soil pH needs to be (or, perhaps it just needs fertilizer, I tend to not use much in general). I would appreciate advise.

    Hi! I am thinking of growing pomegranate indoors as I do not have the land space for a tree. how long does it take to fruit if i start growing from seeds?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  7 лет назад +5

      Many years. Even cutting grown plants can take several years. The edible varieties need a chill period in the low forties for many weeks to set bud. And they are high light plant which can be a challenge for indoor growing. The dwarf variety is a great house plant but the fruit is sour.

    im in zone 6, cold winters. i take my figs inside into dark basement and they survive in dormancy before i bring them out again; will pomegranates work this way, or must i keep some sort of sun light source for them over winter?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  7 лет назад +3

      Let them go dormant or drop all there leaves and then if the temperature are cool enough to keep them dormant they can be held without light. Much like a fig. if they start to grow more than a little before spring they will need light.

    Hey man nice video!! I have a question...my pomegranate is more like a bush opposed to a tree and is also container grown in 7B Virginia.
    With that said it's about three years old with LOTS of branching and nice growth.
    Last summer it produced over one hundred of the flowers and the fruit formed but...around august they all just turned black and fell off.
    The whole bush started over and produced MORE flowers and the fruit and they fell off again during fall in november :(
    So it isn't even the first set of flowers to come on it so i'm wondering if something is being neglected here or i'm doing to much lol
    I know you covered the flowers with no ovaries falling off but these were fertile i believe since the fruit formed to about a small orange.
    Do you have any idea what it could be? I'm still thinking young age but not sure since it set out hundreds of small fruit.
    Please let me know if you have any thoughts! thanks :)
    PS.... The olympian fig i bought from you guys a while ago is doing great it took on about a foot or more of growth and I feel like it'll produce some fruit this summer !! YAY

      +waldron024 Could be age. We often see young plants flower and even form some fruit and then it all drops. Our older plants in pots only hold a half dozen fruit at a time the rest fall off. There is also a problem with fungus that affect the calyx of the fruit causing a brown spot to develop with the fruit later in the season dropping. This is a problem in the high humidity of our eastern temperate summers.

      They need pollinating, I did it myself…get a clean art paint brush, poke and twirl it slowly inside the flower , it will grab some pollen, then go to the female one and transfer it to her. The female one looked like the shape of a peanut shell, or as I think of it, like a woman’s body ;) the male is like a bell shape,narrow at the neck then gets wider. I’m Aussie too.

    Are pomegranate trees like actual trees with pomegranates like apples or not? And can i plant a pomegranate seed from inside a pomegranate, or do I have to buy special seeds?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, they are real trees that produce fruit. For best results, start pomegranate seeds indoors in mid-winter, so that they can have a couple of months to grow before spring planting season. Simply scoop out some seeds and rinse them in cool water, then rub them with a paper towel to remove the pulp. Allow the seeds to dry for a few days to keep them from rotting.

      You can try searching for this plant on Davesgarden.com. They may be able to recommend a vendor who carries this item and can ship it to you.

      A vendor in Western Cape would be the best shot, as this is the ideal climate in South Africa. I don’t have appraisals for Tulbagh Nursery, but they have 2 varieties.

    Can you successfully grow pomegranates with citrus soil?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  5 лет назад

      We generally suggest a well-draining soil which is free from any sort of fertilizers.
