Great reference. I'll share my experiences: - Put in a 1x16GB RAM stick; didn't settle with 12 since 4GB was soldered and I wanted 16. I think the CPU supports up to 64GB. - Network card I had was the Intel 9461NGW (Wifi 802.11ac, 1x1 antenna). Tried putting in an AX200, no luck (not compatible with CPU; this particular laptop only supports CNVIO-compatible network cards (9462, 9560, AX201(?)). Waiting for my AX201(802.11ax, 2x2 antenna, CnVIO 2) to arrive and test it out. Also, just gonna leave the one antenna that came with it and will just stick in the empty HDD portion. - CnVIO-compatible cards only work for 8th and 9th gen. Intel CPUs. CnVIO 2 only works for 10th gen CPUs (all according to a tester on an Intel thread; I'll paste it in here next time). - Stripped off one of the screws on the heatsink in an attempt to disassemble it. Guess that's staying in there permanently until someone suggests a better solution. Any branded thermal paste will be better than the stock one honestly. I'll put in more information here if you want to. That is all.

Well, it is not necessary to remove the battery, but gives you and extra protection to avoid any short circuit. Since the battery has no flex cable connector, the only option to disconnect it is to remove the battery. If you don't want to remove it, it is also fine, just be caucious. Hi. So let's make is clear. You already have an m.2 SSD in the machine and you want to put a second SSD to the 2.5 inch bay (@2:57), right? In that case you need the SAME bracket and flex cable. ;) The 2.5 inch HDD and SSD use the same connector type (SATA3) and the dimension of the drives usually the same. Height will be a less issue as well. Hope this helps.
Yes you can use 2.5 inch SSD as well. Basically you can use the same flex cable what it is in this video. In most countries even if you have no HDD/SSD installed, the flex cable and brackets are included inside the box.
It's a nice laptop, I did some research about it and I was satisfied with the upgrade options, the down side is that i couldn't find any review on my specific model but I bought it anyways and "oh surprise" it came with 4gb ram on board and 4gb on the slot, but the specifications on the website from Asus still says it can be upgraded to 16 gb RAM, so my question is, how am I supposed to upgrade to 16 gb when I already have 4 on board? I mean board+slot would be like: 4+4=8, 4+8=12 and 4+16=20 wich is not supported as the limit is supposed to be 16gb, right? Can you give me some advice?
Well, there are 2 different types of this laptop. One with 8GB soldered memory module, and one which is yours. Technically you cannot use yours as a 16GB setup. Your options are: 4 / 12 / 20 / 36 GB (and yes, your chipset can support more RAM) The number you see on ASUS website is usually the number which is shipped.
@@MakaiTechReviews hi! I was searching and arrived to this vídeo for the same question, take a look on crucial website for the compatibility of products and the results that give me are only a 8gb of ram card, so mi doubt is why is this?

Question, If I buy a Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) can I change it for the current HDD I have? Also is Evo better thn PRO and QVC?
Yes, you can change (and you will benefit a lot just by the speed bump a lot). No, PRO has a better cache, NAND system. QVC? You me QLC? Those are totally fine as long as you are not going to read/write "zetabytes" every single day.
i think you mean QVO, not QVC. PRO > EVO > QVO. PRO is overkill for comsumers as it is made for professionals. EVO and QVO is for consumers or prosumers(mix of consumer and professionals) yet EVO is way better than QVO so pick the right SSD
I'm sure it's the X571GT-BQ547T, for the I7 processor of ninth g. that brings and for its GEFORCE GTX graphics card, plus this model brings the M2 512GB (SSD + Intel Optane)
In my asus viobook gaming there is 4 gb ram included in motherboard and one slot is there where 4 gb present but in my Task manager it is showing 2 used slots out of 4 so i wanted to know where is another 2 slots ?
Most likely it will work. If it is not detected at first, you can also try update the BIOS and check again. Usually, if you swap memories, the first boot takes a bit longer, so be patient.
No, not possible. 😞 Technically you could use external GPU and use the pcie port (m.2 or wifi slot), but trust me those methods are just so DYI and flimsy solutions you dont want to bother with.
I've got the i7 version that has 512GB SSD, if I want to upgrade the SSD, could I add another 500GB SSD over what I've currently got? Or is it that I've got to remove the current one and replace it with a bigger amount of SSD? Idk, this is my first device in which I'm upgrading storage space. please someone help me out.
Nice video, but I have a big problem. My laptop is an asus x571gd (like the video) and I bought a WD Blue 570 ssd nvme m.2 500gb, and my pc freezes in asus logo. My BIOS is in its last version, and some configuration its already done. I don't know what to do now. What can I do now?
Actually the original uses CNViO interface, and AX210 uses Wi-Fi(PCIe), BT(USB), so it wont work. What you need is an AX211, check @ intel ark for the proper system interface type: www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/204837/intel-wifi-6e-ax211-gig/specifications.html This is why I put at the end both variants in my video description, cause manufacturers constantly changes these modules and they are not compatible with each other.

Updated the links for the cable and bracket.
It's exactly what I want to know, thanks a lot and have a good day =)
@@MakaiTechReviews how you know maximum memory support by the laptop? I want a 5to hdd maybe but... I don't find
Any idea on why my asus x571 is getting really high temperatures on left side? i dont know how to clean fans.
Hello,
is it possible to install a 2.5'' SSD where the HDD is?
Do you need to buy something to connect it (like the flex cable for the HDD) ?
Yes you can use 2.5 inch SSD as well. Basically you can use the same flex cable what it is in this video. In most countries even if you have no HDD/SSD installed, the flex cable and brackets are included inside the box.
@@MakaiTechReviews the flex cable is not there in my laptop and I have a old hdd of 2.5inch where to buy that flex cable
@Çukur custom duty and not for my laptop mine is asus vivobook gaming f571gd
I have a problem with the disassembly ,i am afraid of breaking the cover, any help?
Hello. I have the same doubt. My model is the same as yours (4GB on board + 4GB on slot). Have you tried to upgrade the RAM? I'm interested to install a 16GB on the laptop.
@@rolandomorales9585 have you installed more ram?
@@fustarthereal8611 Yes, i've installed a 16GB RAM. Now i have, in total, 20GB.
Hi there, it appears to me online that the Kingston A2000 M.2 2280 form factor is a M-Key and only comes in PCIe Gen 3 x4.
May i confirm that the one installed in the video is a Kingston A2000 M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 M-Key?
Does Kingston A2000 M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 M-Key work for your Asus X571?
Someone know where is CMOS battery in this laptop? I need to remouve in order to reset threshold battery settings. I put tthreshold settings using windows (with my asus app) and now i have only linux on it, so i can't modify threshold battery setting via software

can you tell me what type of flex cable is with its full name? i am not sure about the type so i dont want to buy useless cable for my pc. also thx for video

Hey, where i can find a charger i check on the internet i didn't find ?

Hello. Is it this model X571LH-BQ458T in the video ?
I'm sure it's the X571GT-BQ547T, for the I7 processor of ninth g. that brings and for its GEFORCE GTX graphics card, plus this model brings the M2 512GB (SSD + Intel Optane)
my model is not equipped with a loop for ODD that is on the video, friend, please give me the part number or a link to it

Can we upgrade the battery to a bigger one by removing the 2.5" drive?
hello, just to make sure, i can have both ssd and hdd inside, right??
You can have one m.2 SSD and one 2.5 inch SSD/HDD. As a total of 2 drives. 😉

Very good laptop with the gtx 1650ti and ssd but only 8gb of RAM
I have some 8 gb RAM ddr4 and wanted to know if it can support it 🙏
Most likely it will work. If it is not detected at first, you can also try update the BIOS and check again. Usually, if you swap memories, the first boot takes a bit longer, so be patient.
I have 4gb soldered on the board, I can add 16gb 2666Mhz - 3200mhz
Hello friendo, asus x571 is compatible with ssd m2?
yes, m2 2280. 512 gb or 256 gb PCIe® Gen3 x2 SSD, www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-Laptop-X571GD/specifications/
You can add even 4TB m.2 ssd to if you want. The machine can handle those as well.
@@MakaiTechReviews For real? I thought it only supported up to 512GB
Hi, i don’t really know anything about machines, can i upgrade the gpu or is it like fixed to the motherboard so i can’t?
No, not possible. 😞 Technically you could use external GPU and use the pcie port (m.2 or wifi slot), but trust me those methods are just so DYI and flimsy solutions you dont want to bother with.
@@MakaiTechReviews ah okay, thank you so much!

If you have the SATA slot free (so no HDD) then you can add a 512GB SATA SSD. You cannot have 2 M2 drives though.
Ssd is sata? O ssd is nvme?
Nice video, but I have a big problem. My laptop is an asus x571gd (like the video) and I bought a WD Blue 570 ssd nvme m.2 500gb, and my pc freezes in asus logo. My BIOS is in its last version, and some configuration its already done. I don't know what to do now. What can I do now?
me too.
@@alexandrebosodias3499 I already resolve that problem, I only have to change the ssd for a Kingston one, WD isn't compatible with the laptop

Which company is the onboard laptop ram ?
4:41 you said to swap it to AX200 but as of the moment the latest is AX210. Can I used 210 instead?
Actually the original uses CNViO interface, and AX210 uses Wi-Fi(PCIe), BT(USB), so it wont work. What you need is an AX211, check @ intel ark for the proper system interface type: www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/204837/intel-wifi-6e-ax211-gig/specifications.html
This is why I put at the end both variants in my video description, cause manufacturers constantly changes these modules and they are not compatible with each other.
@@MakaiTechReviewsHi, almost everywhere in the descriptions, it says that ax211 cnvio2 needs Intel 12/13th, but this laptop has intel core i7 9th, will it work?
I would like to know if someone installed a 1TB or 2TB M.2 NVME and if the system recognized it. Greetings
It will work for sure.
