In Hinduism, you can worship THE SUPREME SOUL either with form,(body), without form(formless soul) or with/without form. It all depends on your stage of understanding. Belief in God is really a LOVE relationship between the individual soul and the supreme soul that graduates initially from a 'body to body' (form to form) relationship to then a 'body to supreme sou'l (form to formless) relationship and ultimately to a ' soul to supreme soul' (formless to formless) relationship. Literalists of scripture need to understand that the word 'idols' in scripture refers figuratively to materialistic pursuits such as wealth, power, sex, pleasure, fornication, greed, avarice etc which are seen as 'false gods' compared to the ONE true spiritual God. In Hinduism, you can worship THE SUPREME SOUL either with form,(body), without form(formless soul) or with/without form. It all depends on your stage of understanding. Belief in God is really a LOVE relationship between the individual soul and the supreme soul that graduates initially from a 'body to body' (form to form) relationship to then a 'body to supreme sou'l (form to formless) relationship and ultimately to a ' soul to supreme soul' (formless to formless) relationship. End of the day, the realization should be we are all spiritual souls having a human experience.

THE VEDAS

Brahma Sutra of Hinduism:

"There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit."
Thus only a dispassionate study of the Hindu scriptures can help one understand the concept of God in Hinduism..
