True. His well-known track Reborn from the Hereditary soundtrack has that same quality. Now I finally know how he produces this sound. This man is brilliant.
Ooh, that's it! That's why it's so striking. Those simple, crystal clear vocal lines against this amazing restless low texture. The fact that the multiphonics keep invading the vocal range and making it less clear also helps with the chaos of it all.
@@toastboi5106This particular one is made of metal though, so maybe OP was technically closer to correct? (Even if it's not brass. Can't tell just by looking at it.)
Besides being made of metal, brass instruments typically have all the notes coming out of the bell, whereas woodwinds use many holes, shortening and lengthening the instrument to obtain the desired pitch. For brass instruments, the tightness and looseness of embouchure changes the notes
I keep coming back to this video and I gotta say this is some of the most impressive music I've heard in a long time. Both as composition and as performance. Just the way you incorporate the circular breathing into the timbral changes, the amazing rhythms with the key noises, not to mention your singing and playing and everything else that makes this so arresting. Such uniqueness is hard to come by. Thank you!
Morning on the Serengeti vibes. Murky water with crocs and steam rising. Wildebeest and storks. All intermingling and tromping through the muck everyone on high alert even when you're just standing still munching on grass.. Such a fuckin jam.
That where the blackbird with a ball belly was hiding under the lockdown vibes shack when the deployed a brick at the container then the vacuum to make it Bob's your uncle 😭😂
Me transportas con tu música... es un ritual escucharte y sentir las infinitas texturas, muchas gracias por compartir tu poderoso arte, de corazón te lo digo. Espero tener el privilegio de poder verte tocar, sería maravilloso!!
This is a clarinet, just fyi. A sax is conical, therefore for the lower members of the family it gets pretty damn at the bell. Clarinets are cylindrical so they're pretty thin, like this
I have followed your work ever since I heard LDR Theme "Reborn". You have NO idea how much I loved it! You are a really talented artist! It would be an amazing fit for Sessions! 💪🏻🤩
This guy really knows how to convey the human condition of existential dread via music and I'm totally all for it.
The circular breathing reminds me of ancient didgeridoo songs. Epic.

definitely what inspired him
Takes you back to primal time, I would love to hear him on genndy tartakovsky' Primal. This man is an inspiration to me.
@@ccriztoff that's fantastic news! I can't wait!
That vocal melody trying to tame the rhytmic darkness lurking from beneath....wow

I’m guessing there’s not a lot of solo contrabass clarinet music out there. This is, like all of your other work, uniquely wonderful.

Anthony Braxton has a lot actually
You know your music is freakish when flying lotus samples you
Which flying lotus song is he sampled in?
@@bruhmoment-yc5zg i dont know but he is sampled everywhere. islurwhenitalk and semetary sampled him too

This is kind of beyond words. I sure am jealous…. Such a horrible emotion.
So grateful for you Colin.

something primal, like didgeridoo, throat singing, mixed with some form of organic synth : WOW! It evokes a lot of things
Colin's music honestly is helping with all the chaos in the world, listening to the sounds of controlled mayhem help me through that dark night alone.
Absolutely love the callback to "Never Were the Way She Was" with the howling vocal lines.

I thought the cleaners where looking for jam in the extraction hood? With the change of fans? 😭
I can dance to this!
Hungry and fearless running through a jungle with a spear, hunting for a wild boar
Legendary!
Dang, that's some truly powerful stuff!
Mind blown. Every single time.
Amazing Performance.

this reminds me of Hereditary, fantastic

If Aphex Twin happened to be a solo sax performance, but better....
100%

I thought he was making all the music with just the Saxaphone
He's using a contrabass clarinet and it is all coming from him
