As a woman who is considering leaving everything in my current life behind and recreating something new somewhere else I appreciate you.
Thank you
I know the feeling! Downsizing takes much time, I hope I don't run out. ;-)
I’m considering it myself.
I did exactly the same and moved to France 2 years ago from USA. I can honestly say I enjoy every single day here. Thank you for sharing your story and inspiring others ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Hi you are amazing.I am a french woman 75 year old and 38 years ago I lived in San Diego and I love being there.now I am living in France in the country site with à big garden and a lot of cats.See you.Myriam😂
Love that you are cooking now for us. Great that you are living your best life. French hairdressers are the best, too. I live 6 months each year in Turks & Caicos and 6 months in Canada. The quality of the food in Europe is what North America is missing. I’m 77 and feel that life has never been better. I never feel invisible. Love Linda
I love the food too!
How beautiful Janice! You made me cry. Thank you for sharing your story and giving hope to all women with big dreams.
Thank you so much!
Oh Janice your are such a woman of immense courage and beauty! I love you for so many reasons. France looks so beautiful indeed. I must begin living my own life and you inspire me so much to do just that.
Yes, you must begin living your own life. If I can help you in anyway just email me and we can talk about it.
I just love everything about Janice! Her words of wisdom, joy🎉 for living and excitement for experiencing life! So inspiring!! ❤ Thank you Janice! Con amore, Joni
I’m so sorry about Buster. I know the deep sadness of losing those loving furry family members. I’m glad to see you again. ❤
Thanks so much for your kind words about busting. Yes I’m glad to be back also.
I’m happy that you’ve finally found happiness living in France 🇫🇷! You’re brave and courageous ❤
Thank you so much and thank you for following me
You are absolutely right (on several points): You have to know what you want. No one can tell you. I immigrated to Switzerland at 59 and marvel at the 20 y.o.'s and 30 y.o.'s who wonder whether they are too old to immigrate.Well, you raised the bar. In this video, sometimes you address women or older women, saying, you can do this. Bravo for that. I think your message, however, is more universal. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much and I will always always address women and older women to do whatever they want to do don’t wait don’t give up
I loved watching your video Janice! I moved to Strasbourg in 2018 with my companion François. He was born in Strasbourg but moved to San Francisco in his 20’s and remained there for over 40 years. Shortly after we began dating… in our mid 60’s… we visited his sister and her family in Strasbourg and I fell in love with the city! That was in May 2018 and we moved in October! I had a beautiful dog Allie, a German Shepherd-husky mix and Kitty, my 8 year old cat. I was able to bring both of them in the cabin of the airplane when we moved. Kitty was under my seat and Allie slept at my feet. She was designated as my ‘emotional support dog’, a designation which enabled her to travel in the cabin and not in cargo. Allie died 2 years after we arrived at the age of 16. But she absolutely loved living here and spending hours walking through all of the beautiful gardens! We adopted Louna from the local SPA several months after Allie’s passing. She is a German Shepherd mix. I can’t believe I will have lived here 6 years this coming October. I’m still not fluent in French but I know enough to get by on my daily walks through the city. I’ll be 72 in August and like you, have loved my life here! It’s been wonderful watching your videos and I hope we have the chance to meet some day!
Kaleigh
Thank you for watching my videos and I am loving to hear about your life. Thank you so much for sharing.
Janice, what a wonderful video of your journey. I truly enjoy your words of wisdom while you also navigate through your new and exciting life. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. God bless you and keep on being happy.
You are so welcome
Lovely! The journey of building a new life in France is long and hard but it pays off as you so eloquently stated! 👌🥂🌹
Yes! Thank you!
A wise youtuber once said "go where you're treated best" I think you're on the right path.
Thank you so much
Thank you so much
I love that...good advice.
That's certainly not where I am now.
I'm almost 68, can I do it?
@@Eirene-vw1dt yes you can if you want to bad enough
@@JaniceInFrance you know Janice, simply for me to book a trip to view France would be a big deal.
So many older women doing things from van living to moving abroad.
I'm still working but due to wrap up soon, I picked up a job a year and a half ago because I needed to shore up, things have become so costly here.
I know one thing, I want out if where I am bad enough. There is no quality of life here, noise, pollution, no nature, no savouring anything....
Thank you for your note....
♥️🇨🇦
Yes, yes, yes. The language, culture, the food, the everything. I've noticed French Men respect older woman. They treat them well. You go into a bar and watch the way the barman creates a cocktail. It's pure art. Yes yes yes.
France ❤❤
Interesting! I’ve never had a cocktail or being in a bar but maybe I should go lol
Hi Janice, Well, the only thing missing in Montenegro is a man. I have met men(younger) since I moved to Igalo, but there is no chemistry? I do not drink or go to bars. I do not do online dating ether. I am healthy, and as people tell me, I look great and 20 years younger than my age. When in the US and traveling, I met men in every country. Men here drink too much and smoke.
So what to do? Suggestion? Ciao
I beg to differ with you. The only thing missing in Montenegro is you being comfortable with just being you put those shoulders back young lady get that confidence back you don’t need a man in your life. I find the older I get my women friends are so much more treasured than any man.
@JaniceInFrance Janice, You misunderstood me. I am perfectly fine on my own, traveling and doing what I want. It is not a need it is a want. I prefer the company of a man over a woman. I have younger woman friends in business here to talk to once in a while. Women my age and younger have health, family, pet issues and are not as adventurous as I am. I will travel again after I finish my business in May/June. Not in summer. I enjoy my life here, my family. I have friends and welcome other people visiting me and also doing business in real estate for the future. Let's see what happens? Ciao
@@dianasharonschenker7046 let’s see
Bonjour, Janice! Thank you. The video is inspirational. My wife is excited again about our possible move to France. We were looking at the Provenvce region, but your neighborhood looks great too! Merci! Dean & Cindy
Thank you Dean and Cindy and let me know if you come this way let’s have a cup of coffee
Bonjour Janice, it’s so nice to see you again. I’m so sorry about Buster. I’ve been through the pain of losing a beloved pet and it’s awful. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and I’m glad you’ve decided to live in France permanently. Don’t listen to the negative comments. I hope Tim and I get the courage to move to France too. ❤🇫🇷❤️
Thank you so much for your condolences and I hope you guys get a chance to move your job. If you ever get a chance to come and visit please do so.
Hi Janice, thank you for your insight! Sorry for your loss. Wishing you well.
@@JaniceInFrance I definitely will visit you if we ever move. I had some scary health problems recently so it’s made me stop and think. I’ve got two specialists I’m scheduled to see in Boston this year. I’m doing my best to get my health back so we’ll see. ❤️
Janice, please accept my deep condolences on your loss.🫂💖🕊
I've missed you!!!! So happy you are back, and the small glimpses of your rooms are delightful. I could smell in my mind that soup cooking! You are such a wonderful inspiration. Thank you for sharing with us, and I wish you all the best in the world.
What’s such kind words? Thank you so very much.
Good for you for following your heart and having the courage to do it!
Thank you
Your videos and chats are inspiring and YOUR voice has a refreshing tone. Thank you Janice❤
Wow, thank you!
What a wonderful video with so many parts to it! I loved it all, but 2 things, especially: your skincare routine & thoughts about slowing down & appreciating France instead of rushing along the tourism route. I’ve been married to a 🇫🇷 guy forever & we live in the US, but when we go to France, we slow down & sip coffee for a couple of hours in an outdoor café or take long walks. Most of the subtle beauty of 🇫🇷 is slowing down, tasting the food, looking at random things & just appreciating that the French don’t live to work, they work to live their very best lives.
Thanks for this amazing video. 💕
Well, thank you for watching and I did love your words about slowing down. That means you really do understand what I’m talking about.

Janice you have opened up your heart and feelings … and it resonates with me. 🥰
I’m almost 65 yrs old and single now. I’m planning to live in Europe for the short term … hopefully a few months in France. I’ve been thinking about this for a very long time and I must act on my hearts yearning! I hope to seek your advice on this journey I’m planning for myself.
Thank you for your wonderful video..🙏
Well, the only advice I have is you need to find out where your heart is yearning what is it that you can prioritize? Is it close to Paris or does it have to be Paris. Do you want to be near an ex pat community or is that necessary. if you want to email me just email me and we can talk back-and-forth or possibly talk on the phone
Janice, I am SO glad to hear from you. What a great video !! Very sorry to hear about Buster. You help me in my process of living my life dreams. Thank you. I'll be 72 in May. About to sell my house and move on.
Thank you for writing me in the kind words about Buster. You say you’re in the process of living your dream and you’re moving on, and what does that mean? Lol please share.
@@JaniceInFrance Will do. Thank you. 🙂
I literally just made dinner. I'm so excited to hear about your transparency in this video. As someone who is trying to find a second home somewhere else besides the United States. I really love your videos for the past few years! Thanks ❤
You are so welcome!
I was so happy to see you are doing well after all you've gone through. I'm so sorry for your loss. It is never easy to loose a loved family member. You have a sweet baby with you now to keep you company & also with Kitty. Good luck with the rest of your renovations on your home & I can't wait for your next video.🥰🥰🙏🙏. I hope your leek/potato soup was divine.. It looked delicious!!!
It was very good, and thanks for asking
You’re such a help to others. Thank you
Thank you
I have only just discovered your RUclips…love it💫 This has been my dream for so long. My first long stay was six weeks in Paris in 2022. As l approach sixty, this is the year with a “gap” in it, l hope! I always wander the back streets and no time restraints. It’s the most fulfilling way. Definitely don’t like the ticking off of destinations. I learn so much about myself accompanying myself. Thank you for sharing 💕
I agree with everything you had to say
I had just started watching your videos when you took your break. I was so happy to see a new video today. So happy that you are still enjoying France. Sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog Buster.
Thank you so much!!
Great video Janice! You were one of my inspirations on my decision to move to France after getting laid off last year. I moved to Strasbourg 3 months ago from Sacramento and now looking for my first apartment near Strasbourg. Alsace is beautiful! So sorry about your pup. It's devastating when we have to say goodbye to our furry friends. You are a true inspiration for older single women to follow our hearts and just do it! Take care!
Thank you so much and I love your story
Hello Janice from South of France,
I live in Perpignan (the Mediterranean on one side, the mountains on the other), very close to the Spanish border, for around ten years.
But, I was born in Paris and lived there most of my life.
As such, I find your advice to be sage.
I admire the courage and tenacity that allowed you to achieve your dreams.
I just wanted to point out that France is full of magnificent places, all very different from each other, and where life is good: in the west, Brittany, the Loire Valley, the Basque Country, Occitanie (where I currently live, therefore), the Dordogne (where there's a lot of English speakers too - English, Americans, Australians), and on the other side, to the east, the Côte d'Azur, Savoie, the Rhône valley, Alsace, etc.
The great strength of France is to be bordered by countries that, through exchanges, have shaped the culture of the French regions that border them. Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, England, etc.
Therefore, one could almost visit part of Europe while staying in France.
France is smaller than Texas. However, when moving from one region to another, you almost have the impression of changing countries. The architecture, cultures, and landscapes are so different (like wine, from one wine-growing region to another).
Thanks for your excellent video.
Thank you
Enjoyed hearing your story you are an inspiration to those of us who watch. I don’t know where I will be in 2 years but change is coming!
I’m glad to hear it
OMG you hit the nail on the head with me Janice. I’m 65 and don’t see having any quality if I say in the U.S. The cost of living is outrageous and the healthcare is even worse. I’m ready for an advantage abroad. I love your videos and you give me courage to just do it! Sending peace and love ❤
Fabulous! The cost of living is sooo much better!
My condolences on Buster.... this video was very helpful at this time of my life. thanks,
I’m glad it was and if I can ever be of any more help, please let me know
Hello Janice, I also moved to France on my own a little over a year ago. I am 69 now and love my life! I have traveled a bit and always loved learning about other cultures and seeing many iconic sites. I have been to 38 different countries and have found beauty in all of them! It is hard to choose a favorite since there are so many things in each country that I loved and admired. Cambodia's gentle beauty, Iran's kind people, Turkey's amazing bazaars, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with the most wonderful guides and porters, I have fallen in love with so many countries! Now I am living a slow, lovely life in France. I am so very blessed!
Wow, what a story you have to tell. Thank you for sharing a little of it.
Beautiful video. I really enjoyed the parts where you were walking outside. Such beautiful locations. I'm inspired.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dear Janice, thank you for this long video (one might almost say movie😉). It's a great mosaic of different types of content which has made it fun to watch while listening to your well-chosen words.
My condolences on Buster's passing, I hope he didn't have to suffer.
Also, "chapeau" to the person behind the camera - he or she did an excellent job filming you in all those different places. Very aesthetically pleasing.
Adassa does a beautiful job of filming and thank you for your condolences on Buster and no he did not suffer. I saw that he was going downhill and within two days. I had him at the vet and we had to put him to sleep. Thank you so much for your kind words and I am so glad to be back and I’m glad you like the long video. That’s one of our changes we’re making right now.
@@JaniceInFrance I am glad to hear that Buster's passing went the way it did, that is without any suffering, and that you had him for such a long time.
I look forward to your upcoming videos! All the best to you.
You are such a blessing. You are so kind to share your life with those of us who have the dream but in reality know it’s unattainable. I so enjoy your videos and hope to see more. God bless you, Becky
Thank you so much and I hope to give you more lol
I did exactly what you’re suggesting during my 2023 trip and just had an unforgettable time. Love Paris❤
I am so glad to hear, and thank you so much for commenting
Such a positive and encouraging video! I’ve only traveled once outside the USA and I haven’t even traveled much in the USA to be honest.
Last December was my first trip to the UK with my daughter and it just sparked my deep desire to see more. I’ve been researching France and Italy , as my husband has relatives there and I hope to go one day ❤
Thank you Janice for encouraging us and letting us know we’re never to old to follow our dream !
You are very welcome and if you ever get my way, let me know and we’ll have a cup of coffee
@@JaniceInFrance Absolutely! Would love that :)
I believe Americans get a shock at the toxicity of current US culture. It's such a stressful place and no wonder there's so much violence. The culture and constant chasing materialism is soul destroying.
Janice, where have you been?? Wow, have you been missed! It is so nice to finally see you here again, and to enjoy another video of your journey. Welcome back. 👏😊
Do you think I’ve been missed? I’ve missed all of you guys lol.
You have definitely been missed! It’s such a treat to follow your journey again and to hopefully be treated to more exciting chapters in the future. Your introductory narrative on this video was so good! You are a natural narrator. Looking forward to more stories and exciting glimpses into your new life soon. You keep it real Janice, and that’s why we’re here. 🙏🤗
So sorry you lost your little buddy, Max will be a lifesaver. I enjoy hearing about your food experiences and your travels around your town. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much!
It has been awhile since I tuned in to your channel. But I always love your channel it inspires me as a 60 year old woman so much! You keep me inspired to not give up on my dreams. But, I want to send my condolences on the passing of sweet Buster. ❤ I hope all your wonderful memories and little max and kitty keep your heart warmed while you grieve over the loss of Buster.
Thank you for your kind words about Buster and thank you for watching my channel
You look so peaceful and happy sitting there in your soft pink sweater on the stone wall……thank you for your courageous inspiration. Bless you💜☮✝☮💜
You are so welcome
Just finding out that you lost your beloved Buster. Loosing an a animal who has been with us for yrs and yrs is one of life's most difficult experiences and sometimes takes many months to heal. It is good that you have Max and the cat. Very sad for them as well.
Janice you found your calling in inspiring others to "go for it " later in life. It is important that you share so much "How to" and often mention your struggles. Life is always a trade-off so best to know some cons and find if there are any dealbreakers!
Yes it is you know but when my husband died in 2012 you just have to pick up your boot straps when you have a little one you know I had a 12-year-old and do what you need to do and then later on in life, it was like OK now it’s my time lol
Been waiting for this video to come out this week! ❤
Yay! Thank you!
That was such a good video Janice. Thank you for telling your story and showing us around.
You are so welcome!
I love your videos Janice. I’m so sorry you lost your precious Buster. I have a cat named Buster. Much love from Canada.
So nice to see you again. You are such a delight! Thank you for sharing your journey. It is truly inspiring. Bon journée mon chérie.❤
You are so welcome!
Janice,so inspiring! Merci beaucoup!🎉
You are very welcome
Loved this presentation Janice. Very few ads thank you. I did the same thing you did but in 2011. Moved from Australia to Lake Garda Northern Italy and for the same reasons. I fell in love with Italy on my first visit in 1979 and I said to myself back then one day I am gong to live in Italy
Isn’t it something how we just know that’s where we want to be that’s what I love about it and that’s what I try to tell people you’ve got to feel it in your heart that that’s exactly where you want to be
Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!
Glad it was helpful!
Janice it is so wonderful to have you back. I did indeed miss you. Also need to check my notification settingsas did not get a notification for this video. First of all my deepest sympathy on losing Buster. Have had pets most of my life so truly understand the sadness and loss and lonliness that happens when you lose a beloved pet. So happy you have been able to integrate another pet that will continue to keep you company and bring you joy. Secondly thank you for your beautiful video and dialogue. It resonated so strongly with me and many more of us seniors who admire your courage in following your dream. Myself I am reaching my 70th year next month and have been struggling with a lot of jumbled and conflicting thoughts as life continues to unfold in a pattern that makes my continued residence on the North American continent somewhat troubling. For all the reasons you listed, i.e. approach to life, quality of life and attitude towards older persons. So glad to see you back. Looking forward to more of your videos. Take care and God bless.😍
Thank you so much for your very kind words and for commenting and take care of yourself also
Aww, how sweet, Max loves you so much. I’m excited to see you back! Thank you for this video. Enjoyed it.
Yay! Thank you!

You are very welcome. Honestly, it’s my pleasure.
Merci! It is so good to see your video up! I am taking the lesson to slow down and savor the moments from you....live you to bits!!! Bonjour......
You can do it!
Hi from Italy Janice ! Loved the video, very familiar themes for me, starting over in a new place, being the architect of your new life, rising to cultural challenges and change. Life is good when we stop to smell the roses and notice the beauty in simple things.
Very well said, thank you for commenting
Bonjour Janice! 😊
Hope you are doing well! ☀️
Been missing your lovely updates and videos!

Thank you! You too!
I make potato leek soup fairly often during winter months. But I always cut the leeks lengthwise in order to rinse out the Sandy soil.
Well, now that you mention it does the produce people cut off the end of the chives, because the man at my produce did he’d like, took his arm and twisted part of the chives off at the end of what I called chives
Loved the video. Sorry to hear abut Buster. You are truly inspiring. Thank you.
Thanks so much!
Good for you Janice keep beckoning us to make a change 👏
Oh, thank you for that, and I certainly will

Hello Dear Janice,
I first wanted to mention your loss of Buster your beloved Shih Tzu, it gives me a lump in my throat to think about how hard that is. I have had many rescued older Shih Tzu's that haven't lived long but oh what joy they have brought me, and to lose them HURTS, you need time to grieve and I am glad you took that time for yourself. I totally understand. Buster was VERY precious you had him for a long time what a blessing. Rest in Peace Buster Boy 🙏💔.
I really enjoyed your newest video today, I wrote to you because I was worried about not having seen your video post. You look marvelous I am so happy you have made many friends online and in France, you are a very bright light! I too am 70, I don't have the means to move but I would love a better place ( apt) to live. Anyway, always wish you a happy life and I know you're a wonderful woman because you love animals so much. LOTS of love to You, Max and Kitty. 🎉 💗💗💗🙏
First of all thank you so much for your
Condolences with Buster. He was my buddy and I miss him very very much. Well if you ever do want to move and you come this way let me know and we’ll have a cup of coffee or maybe a glass of wine. Best of luck to you and thank you so much for writing to me.
@@JaniceInFrance you are so welcome, my pleasure. I really enjoy you very much. You never know what the future could hold, I have nothing that ties me here. I haven't met anyone worth my time, just not a priority with me. I'm in good health, luckily. Thank you for replying so quickly. Enjoy your Sunday Janice. 🌷🪻

Bonjour Janice! Your videos always make me smile. Looking forward to the day that I let you know the flight is booked and I’m on my way! 🇫🇷 😊
Sounds great!
Bonjour there, Janice! I’m new to your channel but I have to tell you are such an inspiring person. Everything you’ve said in the beginning of this video is what I think and feel. I enjoy France very much and during my travels I’ve started entertaining changing countries. My heart is in Normandie, who knows I’ll have your courage? All the best and thank you for sharing your life in Fontainebleau (I’ve spent a lovely day there a few years ago) and in France. 🌹
Well, thank you for your comments and I love the Normandy area. Do you know I was so ignorant when I moved here I thought Normandy was a town. I really want to go to the coastline.
What a bounty of beautiful reflections you shared Janice!👌👍🥰🤗
Thank you kindly
Beautiful photography and amazing places ❤
Thank you very much!
Great video, Janice I'm still watching! Your experience living in France was truly inspiring and has motivated me to consider making a similar move one day. The way you captured the essence of French life in your intro was absolutely stunning - it felt like I was watching the opening of a beautiful film!
I'm curious, what has been the most rewarding aspect of your relocation to France? And on the flip side, what was the biggest challenge you faced during your transition?
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Your video has definitely fueled my desire to explore the possibility of living in France. The culture, the scenery, and the lifestyle you portrayed are simply captivating. Keep up the fantastic work, and I look forward to seeing more of your French adventures!
I think for me, the best part of moving is just the calmness I feel being able to afford items that I couldn’t afford in the states and of course the most enduring challenge is missing my daughter. Honestly, the language has never stopped me. If you noticed I was talking to two French women in the market.
Great vlog as always!
