Tenemos que darnos cuenta que esta aria es INCANTABLE, MOSNTRUOSAMENTE DIFICIL y pocos son los tenores escogidos que se atreven a cantar semejante aria, so el chico tiene un gran merito y una gran voz indudablemente. FELICIDADES. Ahi se los dejo.

It's interesting how this aria has evolved since Dano Raffanti sang it in the early '80's (not many embellishments) to Michael Spyres who, for lack of a better expression, ornaments the hell out of it. I'm glad the lower notes aren't forced but they are certainly heard. I hope he sings in the Los Angeles area soon. I very much look forward to hearing him in the house. Bravo, Michael!!!!!
my guess is that one is distracted by the big volume of his low notes: in the theatre this makes his high notes sound very small in this role. At least this was my feeling when I heard him in the same role in London two years ago. But it's clearly Rossini's fault, I doubt one can sing this aria better ;)
he is has an incredible voice, a very rare talent... The audience is simply being very ignorant and disrespectful, keeping coffing to show disrespect and to disturb the performance of such an incredible singer... Meh. And maybe the would give Kaufman a standing ovation, lol.
Authentique "baryténor" Rossinien avec richesse de couleurs, ambitus impressionnant (il semble ici descendre aussi bas que sa voix le lui permet et monter au plus haut) et vocalisation déliée. Miam!
Un chanteur que j'adore, une virtuosité qui m'éblouit toujours, mais une propension à grossir le médium et à forcer le grave qui semble en train d'abîmer sa voix et de mettre en péril l'aigu. Ses moyens et la longueur de sa voix sont exceptionnels, fallait-il pour autant tenter les rôles de baryténors? La partie lente et piano montre sa vraie voix, solaire et lumineuse, celle qu'il n'aurait jamais du abandonner.
Mais il semble vouloir revenir à des rôles plus centrés sur sa véritable vocalité ( Almaviva à Orange , Le Postillon de longjumeau à la SalleFavart ). Sa voix est plus large qu'un tenore di grazia . l'avenir nous dira s'il sait resté prudent . Il est vrai que les barytenors n'ont pas porté chance à Chris Meritt !
C'est sans doute l'opéra le plus difficile à chanter de Rossini. Celui-ci exige des interprètes des tessitures vocales impressionnantes. Dans cet extrait : plus de 2 octaves. La Dame du lac est très peu jouée à cause de ces difficultés. Même les mezzos (mezzi) doivent grimper dans le registre ds sopranos.
Michael Spyres is terrific and I like him a lot, but please do listen to Ramon Vargas singing this (it's on RUclips). The technical mastery, the ease of production and the sheer beauty have to be heard to believed! (He ends on a high D with a full chest voice, too, just for good measure).

@@Bulacio_Elias Yeah, this one was mixed. I heard him do this note full-voiced in another aria prior though.
Full chest voice on a high d is not possible.
