Excellent! Was taught many years we bounce in and out of fellowship with God each time we sin and confess. Never did sit right with me but because the bible "teachers" taught it, it must be right was my thinking. So glad I heard the true meaning a few years ago. So freeing! Im learning alot of teachings are just tradition and not biblical. God bless!

A lot of people misunderstood the meaning of repentance. It means turning towards a different direction, and changing your mindset. Sadly, some individuals believe that before you pass away, you HAVE to make sure you ask God for forgiveness for every little sin. Now like you, I also am not anti confession, but in all honesty, you’re never going to be truly sorry for everything that’s considered a sin. Legalistic folks especially, will never admit that though, because they believe they’re perfect and on a higher level than everyone else. That’s the whole point of the cross though. Sin has been covered past, present, and future.

These are things that took me years to realize, but what you say is true. I was stuck in Calvinism for a long time and was taught that if I sin, God literally can't hear my prayers, not even when I pray to be delivered from some habitual sin. You can imagine the feeling of desperation and heartbreak that led to. I thank and praise the Lord for leading me out of that heresy and helping me realize the unspeakable greatness of His grace and His love. God bless you!

Every church service, we have a part where we confess our sins (not everyone of them though), just to acknowledge them. We say a special prayer which I feel is a reminder of Jesus' forgiveness for us and his blood on the cross.

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  Год назад +1

There's nothing wrong with confessing our sins to one another, so that we can pray for each other.
Although a word of caution, I am always apprehensive with these churches that sort of build this theme into their church as some type of a requirement to do every Sunday. If we're not careful, we start thinking somehow this is the key to living a righteous life.
I am not confessing my sins to the average person in the local church. This teaching is about confessing our sins to those that we are close to and praying for each other. It is not about looking to your left or to your right and telling some arbitrary stranger about your struggles. I'm also a little confused about the special prayer. All prayers are special. We know not what we should pray for, and thank God spirit intercedes.
Again, let's confess our sins to those that we know and trust. Let's pray for one another. Just be careful not to turn into some lifeless religious ad that needs to be done every Sunday morning at the local Church on Main Street. And I'm not saying that's what you were suggesting. I just want to be careful that no one gets the wrong message of what that verse in scripture is teaching us.

[Colossians 3:13] bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also.
First, there is NO threat here. No mention of punishment whatsoever. How has 'the Lord forgiven you"? He has taken away all your sins. He remembers them no more. His forgiveness for you is never ending.
So, he's saying pass it on. Forgive others just as gracefully as He forgives you.
If the other (false) teaching were correct, it would contradict God. On that bad teaching, if God were threatening to punish us if we did not forgive others, well, that clearly says he doesn't forgive us. Imagine that gospel. it would be like
*"hey Mike, if you don't forgive someone I will punish you, so I want you to forgive others in the same way I forgive you. If they don't forgive you, then you don't need to forgive them. Just punish them:*
Do you see how that teaching falls apart? God's grace is perfect. Unbreakable. As believer God wants us to show the world Jesus through our willingness to forgive others even when they don't deserve it. But if we don't and I am sure we fall short here, we will still be forgiven. God's the example. Perfect love. Perfect forgiveness.

Hey, what are your thoughts about the verse that’s like this, “God will supply your needs according to his riches? I just graduated high school and I’m living at home with my mother. I don’t plan on living with my mom all my life. Right now I don’t have a job and I don’t have a car, & my mother has to have her car to go to work in. So, I been praying for God to bless me with a job and also so I can try and get my own car because I want something nice to drive in, I don’t want just any car & it’s very important to me that I get to get me a car because I need me a car to take myself to and from where I need to go & also I’m young, I wanna get to go places and have fun, not do nothing stupid tho. I just wanna live and enjoy my life while I’m young. I know God doesn’t promise us health and wealth, and I think in one video you said God wasn’t really interested in hooking us up with those things, like money, cars & jobs. “The ask and it shall be given to you” video. So I kinda was feeling bad, feeling like, (well dang, I wanna be blessed with a job and & car, I thought God cared about us having those kind of things, they are a necessity for life, I don’t wanna struggle for the things that I need and I can’t keep depending on my parents, they’re not gonna be around forever & my mom had told me that herself). Some of my friends are blessed with jobs & a cars and I’m just still sitting here, I’m just trying to get started with my life. I’m trying to go to college, and have a job so I could be able to take care of myself and make a living. I know the Bible talks about being content, I’m content but I’m not where I wanna be at in life right now and I don’t want to continue being in the same position I’m in. I’m not trying to doubt that God cares about my hopes and my desires & needs, but what are your thoughts? Should I keep praying about those things or just stop praying about them?

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  Год назад +4

Great Question, Re: What does “God will supply your needs according to his riches” mean.
I have to begin by saying that, God wants you to come him with every request. That includes your need for a car, a job, and even the things you don’t need, but would like to have.. He is your father, and he’s not going to lose patience, or love for you no matter how many times you come to him, and no matter what you ask for..
Yes, there are times where indeed God will provide tangible things like cars, phones, money, etc. But I do not believe that these are promises from God. You may or may not ever get those things.
I like to say that the gospel fits everyone. Meaning if he's doing it for you, he will do it for anyone across the globe if he feels it should be done. You do not see anyone in Third World countries, suddenly getting cars, and iPhones.
1 Timothy 6:5 tells us that “anyone who thinks that godliness is a means of financial gain is of depraved mind”.
That does not mean you are. What it means, is there anyone who thinks that God is guaranteeing us financial gain as long as we are Christians it’s not good. There’s a lot of prosperity preachers out there. That tells us. God will give us whatever we ask for if we have enough faith..
Again, you should bring every request to God. But be thankful, regardless of his answer. I have asked God for many things were the answer was no. And frequently, I later found that it was a good thing the answer was ‘no”. But don’t ever think for a moment that God is not interested in hearing your request.
Romans 8:26 tells us that we know not what we should pray for. We’re not God. That doesn’t mean don’t pray. It’s simply means his ways are higher than ours. So what he teaches us is to go ahead and pray anyway, and know that the Spirit of Christ spell intercede for us and lift up our prayers properly to God. Your role? Just pray. Beat you. But if you don’t get a yes to your prayer, don’t fall for the religious lie that somehow your faith is weak or you’re not performing well enough. You may or may not get the answer you want. Let’s just trust in Jesus and know that he’s gonna do what’s best for us, even when we don’t know.
I want around and extremely successful company. We did Bible studies, had Bible tracks for our visitors, and did all kinds of things that showed the world Jesus. After mini years, it literally folded out of nowhere. I begged God to save that company. And I felt I needed to remind him that we were doing everything for him. I could not believe that he would let my company fall apart and it was completely out of my control.. His answer was a big fat “NO, Mike”!
While I love that company, I was so stressed every minute of every day. There was so much work and employees were terrible. I couldn’t count on 80% of them. But in my mind, I should have that company and God should answer that prayer. Boy was I wrong. Today I run a company that is substantially smaller, has almost 0 stress, yep the profit margins are so high that we do have the revenue yet twice the profit.
Indeed, as it turns out, God did me a big favor by answering my first prayer with a “no”.
Since then, I’ve learned that when God says no, it may feel like the worst possible answer in the moment, but we cannot see into the future. Just trust God. But remember what the apostle Paul talked about. Learned to be content when you have much and when you have a little. If you try to get your contentment through cars, jobs, and an ability to pay bills, you’re going to struggle staying happy. Let the source be Jesus. And no that one way or the other God always sees us through these difficult times.. Just not always in the way we expect it.

I like your message - but I'm just throwing this one out there -- should we pray the Lord's Prayer? I have read that it is really an Old Testament prayer - but many churches still pray it. My thoughts are that it is a model prayer that gives us some focal points that we can still use - but words like "thy kingdom come" and "forgive us our trespasses" may be better looked at in the Old Testament context. What do you think?

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  2 года назад +2

      Great question
No, we should not pray the Lords Prayer.
You are correct in your statement “it’s an Old Testament prayer”.
People REALLY miss the context of the Lord’s prayer.
      It’s a death sentence!
Jesus is talking to JEWS, who are chasing after the law.
This prayer would have offended that audience.
“Forgive our debtors JUST as WE forgive others”
That’s not the gospel. We have forgiveness.
Under this prayer, you only get as much forgiveness as you dole out. If you fail to forgive someone, you get hell. Eternal punishment.
      How about vs 14?
*“For IF you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”.*
So, they get conditional forgiveness. And no Christian would EVER hear vs 15.
*“But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will NOT forgive your sins.”*
That’s works-based salvation. We are saved by grace. A gift.
It’s all part of the sermon on the mount. If you want, see this video I created illustrating that this sermon is NOT FOR YOU. It’s for Jews who will soon kill Jesus. The sermon buries them under the true perfect and holy standard of the law.

PL. am not sure , clear that for me . thank you .

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  2 года назад

Great question. More people should ask it.
[Matthew 6:14-15] For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses.
So, if this were to Christians, the message would be if you don’t forgive someone else, you can lose your salvation. We know that is not the gospel.
Here’s what you need to know:
This is happening at the Sermon on the Mount.
AUDIENCE: The audience is JEWISH people. Jews who are chasing after the law for cleansing of sin. These are the same people who will soon put Jesus on the cross.
Jesus basically has two ministries going on at the same time. Both are true and neither conflicts with the other.
You’ll notice when he talks to believers He is gentle. For example, when he saw the woman who actually committed adultery, he gently told her no one condemned her. But then, when he is talking to the Jewish people who did not commit a physical at, but rather just looked with lust, he tells them it’s the same thing as the physical act, and it’s worthy of eternal punishment.
It’s true. Jesus has a different message for UNBELIEVERS. Especially Jewish people.
So, in the sermon on the mount, Jesus is talking to people who seek the law over Jesus. And he’s given them a sermon that they should relate to. He’s showing them what it’s like to be under the law. He’s showing them the true standard of the law. It’s not grace. Instead, you get what you deserve.
In this case, you only get as much forgiveness as you dole out. And most every human being has someone they have not fully forgiven because they were wronged and hurt deeply.
The Christians are not under the law and that’s not a message we would ever hear. Instead, we discover that we have complete forgiveness, and that’s the reason we forgive others. We’re basically passing it on. You will not find one verse after the cross, for Jesus is telling Christians if we don’t forgive others, he won’t forgive us. In fact, here are two examples of the exact opposite:
[Eph 4:32] be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, JUST AS God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ.
[Colossians 3:13] bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; JUST AS the Lord forgave you, so must you do also.
So the Jewish man it’s only forgiven to the extent that he can’t forgive. The believer is totally forgiven, and it’s this message that motivates us to forgive others, in the same way that God has forgiven us. Forgiveness it’s not something earned. It’s a gift. By grace. We can’t boast.

Hey, that verse about God being a consuming fire has been used to scare Christians in Hebrews 12:29 as if God is threatening Believers like “if you sin, God’s gonna get you.”
What are your thoughts about it and what does that mean for Christians? Also what about the verse that talks about submission in marriage. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Some say women need to "obey" their husbands. Some say it's joyfully serving one another out of love, Being there to support your partner. Some say that it’s different for each everyone/couple. What do you think it means?

Re: Consuming Fire. I'm honestly not sure how anyone could use that verse to threaten Christians. Weird. As for me, I would just ignore those people. Anybody who thinks goddess threatening believers needs to go back to Sunday school 101. As far as wives submitting to their husbands, this is not about women obeying their husband. This is actually more about women respecting their husbands, and if we read the full context, we discover it's also about men respecting their wives, slaves, respecting their masters, master is respecting slave, or in other words all Christians respecting others. Listen, no worries about anyone being a doormat. Simply put, we should all be submissive(respectful) those that God has put in authority over us. That may be a boss, police, a governor, Mayor etc. And the same way those above, you should treat you with gentleness and respect. Remember, there is neither, Jew, nor Gentile, we are all one.

Here is your proof the Judas was not saved. Satan CANNOT enter into a believer, but only an unbeliever. Judas was not saved. Carry on because there are other verses from Acts.
John's Gospel 13:27 being the key verse. I am just adding some context:
      John 13: 24-30 -
24Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. 25He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? 26Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27AND AFTER THE SOP SATAN ENTERED INTO HIM
(Judas Iscariot). Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
      - Peter is reiterating Psalms 69:25 and Psalms 109 which were prophesies of David.
      Acts 1:15-20 -
15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick (meaning 'position' or 'responsibilities') let another take.

    • @ChristMySolidRock1963
      @ChristMySolidRock1963 Год назад

PS. There is also Christ's prophesy concerning Judas Iscariot's judgment:
      Matthew 26:24-25 -
24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR THAT MAN IF HE HAD NOT BEEN BORN.
25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

    Ezekiel 22:30
What does this mean and does this apply to us today? If so, how do we go about this?

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  Год назад +1

If we read the verses in chapter 22 carefully, we realize these are people who are about to experience the ‘wrath of God’. They are about to be ‘thrown into the fire’.
So there are a couple of things going on in this chapter. Some, we should take note of, and others do not apply.
Take Note of: we certainly should not be murdering other people. We should not treat our mother and father with contempt. We should not be slanderous. We certainly should not commit sexual sin. We should not oppress other people. etc
Does Not Apply: however, under the gospel, how God responds to you when you make poor choices is very different than how he did to those under the law.
You see, as Christians you can be totally forgiven of all transgression and at the same time agree that it's not right to sin. This is why Grace offends so many religious egos. They feel like the message of complete forgiveness through the cross somehow implies that we think sin is okay. So the only way they can feel good is by trying to put themselves back under the law. But they fail to realize that if you even stumble at one tiny point of the law, you are guilty of it all. There is no wiggle room to even make a tiny mistake.
The religious ego holds on to the old testament as if it has the ability to leave them away from sin today. But the truth is, it is Grace that leads us to repentance. The law makes nothing perfect, and grabbing onto it and obsessing over it. It has no ability to lead you to live a godly life. For some reason, we always want to put ourselves in the shoes of the Old Testament Jews. Why? Why do we want to be under an old testament law that God never even offered to us? God gave us something founded on better hopes and better promises. He gave us Jesus. I think the best way to understanding the Bible is to avoid reading the New Testament through the lens of the old. And instead, read the old testament through the lens of the new one.
Avoid sin? Yes!!!!!!! But if you're questioning any verse, that makes you think that there may be condemnation or punishment in the event that you do sin, well, you are putting yourself back under a Jewish man's law. It's time Christians open their minds in their hearts and realize we are fully forgiven and fully clean. NOTHING can change that. The blood of Christ was more than enough to satisfy God for our bad choices. Where sin increases grace abounds all the more. The religious ego calls that a license to sin. My response is they don't really believe Jesus when he said he took away our sin, and they also do not believe that the cross worked. Otherwise, why would they be questioning it?
Don't get me wrong, there are many people that have just been taught by bad teachers. They're confused because of the wolf in sheep's clothing in a twisted message. And as a result, God's sheep are questioning this bad teaching. Because it doesn't seem to line up with the gospel of Grace. In that case, it is healthy questioning. Just watch out for the people that are not questioning it, but rather telling you that the grace of God is somehow watered down by your poor choices. That is the lie of the evil one.

In context, what he’s saying is that if you believe this message you’re going to be persecuted. You will be persecuted by your mother, friends, employers, people of all walks of life.

Note - that doesn’t mean you have to cut these people off. The point is WHO is above all when you get persecuted? Will it be humans, or will it be Jesus.
This is also the answer to your last question. This is putting God first.

Indeed, it is in the New Testament, however, this was not something sad during the New Testament. In our Bibles, we call the New Testament, Matthew, one chapter 1. But a testament, which is the same thing as a covenant, only begins when the man who made it dies. This prayer was said before the cross, and the point was to burry Jewish people under their own law. Under the law, if you don’t forgive, you won’t be forgiven. But under the new covenant, we are forgiven by grace. You will never find any language after the cross that says things like cut off your hand, or that threatens your salvation or forgiveness.
      Hope that helps ❤️

PS - keeping in mind that Jesus was talking to unbelieving Jewish people. Imagine, you're not Jewish person in the audience and someone claiming to be the son of God tells you that you will only get as much forgiveness as you are willing to dole out. And if you don't go out forgiveness to everyone, and you won't be forgiven either. This really would've angered the people hearing the message. Certainly all of us are guilty of not forgiving some people. But as a Christian, you don't get a limited amount of forgiveness based on how well you were doing after giving other people. As a Christian, your sins have been cleansed. Nailed to the Cross. You are justified. You will be presented as blameless in the end. You are not dealing with an old testament Jewish man's problem because they were under the law. You are not under the law, you are under grace. Your faith has made you complete. An old friend of mine used to use the expression 'reading other peoples mail'. Sometimes been reading Bible verses, we need to remember that we don't need to put our self in the middle of every story. The story is one of them. The sermon on the mount was a death sentence. This idea that we should be striving to keep those commands is insanity. The sermon on the mount results in hell, cutting off body parts that cause you to sin. What's happening as we realize that the standard of law is so perfect, and holy, that anyone under it, like the Jewish audience, is doing, and no one will be found righteous under that system. It's their mail. You are not under a Jewish man's old covenant.. :)
If it helps you, here's a video I did breaking down the sermon on the mount, so you understand that it truly was not something for you.. ruclips.net/video/07D5rQyuzMw/видео.html

Thank you for your question. I don't spend a lot of time writing about the end times. The book of Revelation is very complex and very difficult to interpret before the events described actually happen. I think of it, like the letters that were being read, forecasting Jesus. They had no idea how it was going to unfold until it actually .happened. For Christians we don't really have to worry about the end times. We know how the story ends and where we will be..
I'm not sure if your question is concerned about politics or Covid, but I don't really give much thought to either one with regards to end times. I imagine during the holocaust people thought that was the end times. Yeah, they were wrong. Many people probably think that's where we are today. The truth is the scripture tells no one knows the day or the hour or the epoch. I'm not saying it's not a good question. It's just one of those things I don't personally think a lot about..

We should not be surprised at all, but what we're seeing today. Disgusted by, yes, but surprised, no. A lot of the publicity comes from dirty politicians, who are only interested in selling a message to get you on their side. As Christians, we know the evil people do evil things. They always have, and they always will. I think if we focus too much on the United States alone, we get a false picture of the evil world we live in. In many countries, raping, beating, and even killing little children is a normal culture. We are just blessed to live in a country where it's not. And I can tell you at the core, the reason it's not normal in the United States, is because of Christianity.
But the truth is, we simply do not know the day, nor the hour that Jesus will return. People have been thinking for thousands of years that the end was here. For me, I don't put a lot of attention as to when he's coming back, but rather where I'm going when I die. The end times really is somewhat of a guessing game, and most people end up with egg on their faces when they try to make predictions of when it all happens. I do believe the book of revelation has purpose, but it will reveal itself when we're actually there. And I know that since Covid many people have insisted that the vaccine proves we.re there. I think they are going to end up with egg on your face too. I do study the book, I just prefer not to do videos on it, because I don't believe the deeper part of what is coming has been revealed, and until that happens, the book of revelation will be somewhat of a mystery.

For questions like these, I have a pretty straight forward answer. Nobody, from the old or the new testament, go to hell for anything they 'did'. How is only a result of unbelief. In the Old Testament, they had to believe in the one true God. We discover that's how everyone was saved. And it's the same way under the new. Under the new, if you reject Jesus, you don't believe in the one true God. Because the ones who God said, Jesus is his son, and if we deny Jesus, we are chasing after a guy that is not real. So Uzziah would not have ended up in hell because he made God angry. It seems like most of the Jews pretty frequently could make God angry. I hope that helps

The context is describing their FORMER identity. And the point is Christians don’t have any business indulging in sin. We’re supposed to know that those things previously prevented us from inheriting the kingdom. And there’s no place for that nonsense in the Christian life.
But to be clear. It was their former identity that was in darkness. Hence notice verse 8 describes their PAST tense identity, and then he uses a different word to describe their CURRENT identity:
8 For you were ONCE (past tense) darkness, but NOW (current) you are light in the Lord.
So what he’s teaching them is stop living out the identity of your old self. Live as children of light. To be honest, I think you’re asking the wrong question, but with good motives.
If I had the answer, I’d say the human normal sexual desire is probably almost the same thing as lust. If not the exact same.
The point Jesus was making was that all unbelieving humans are guilty of lust. Because it’s not about the physical act, rather the heart. This is why any person who heard the sermon would’ve been very bothered. Because if we’re honest with ourselves, we know we are all guilty of lust. That doesn’t mean we obsess over sexual matters all the time. But it only takes one time.
The goal wasn't to make them feel guilty. The goal was to show them no one could be righteous to the law. In this case, thou shall not commit adultery. Anyone who got it realized very quickly they don't need to be obsessing over how to avoid looking with lost, but rather how to be free from that law. The answer is Jesus :)

And when I read the language, I see Jesus telling them to stop with all the fake garbage on the outside and get the business cleaning up that dirty inside.
Vs 1 “do not to practice your righteousness in the sight of people, to be NOTICED BY THEM
Vs 2 ‘when you give to the poor, do not SOUND A TRUMPET before you’
Vs 3 “when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing”
Vs 5 ‘And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will SEEN BY PEOPLE.
Do you see it? We even see people like this in the church today. They’re so arrogant. All they want to do is draw attention to themselves to basically tell the congregation look at how awesome “I am”.. And that’s terrible when we don’t really see love from them. So that’s what I think is going on. Jesus is not impressed with all the outwardly show off things. These people are doing.

I think it’s okay for them to tell some Christians why they don’t want to be that, bc maybe that will change that Christian w/ that religious ego. What are your thoughts about this? Are they wrong? First of all, I think, if we’re honest with ourselves, we know there are quite a few Christians who have religious egos. Just as they are many atheist who have egos..
I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with an unbeliever calling out a Christian, who has an ego.
I would ignore that person who told you they don’t have any say on how questions should act. Especially since they’re using God as their defense.
I would remind them that God so loved the world that he gave Jesus while we were still sinners. Unbelievers. God wishes that none would perish. God has a very big heart for all the unbelievers.
I have had people unjustly say I had a religious ego or something to that effect. I’m certainly not going to win them over. If I basically told him to shut up, they don’t have any say.. Instead, I think our rule is to try to win them over. Perhaps by saying “I’m really sorry that I’ve made you see me that way. I will be happy to work on it”. After all, isn’t our goal to win them for Jesus? The only way to do that is by examining love and gentleness even when they don’t deserve it. Remember, God forgives us, even when we don’t deserve it. Why are we trying to actually exhibit religious egos, and have no Grace for the unsaved.
In general, I am very easy-going and very nice to people, but I’ve always admitted that my one biggest sin is pride. I don’t do very well when people speak harshly to me without calls. And because I know this about myself, I’m very slow to speak. Patient. Before I open my mouth, I think..
We know that love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not boast. And this idea that we're only supposed to exude these attributes to other fellow Christians is nonsense. This is supposed to be who we are as a people. We treat everyone like this.

This message was very specific to the Jewish people. The Jewish people were obsessed with outward appearance is all they were filthy rags internally.
Everything they did was a spectacle. They prayed so everyone can see them. It was more like “Look at me. Look at how awesome I am. I’m so religious you need to be like me.” When they gave money, they did it so everyone could see. When they fasted they wanted to make sure everybody could see that they looked miserable so they would know they were fasting. They were frauds.

    What does this verse mean?

    • @jesuswithoutreligion
      @jesuswithoutreligion  Год назад +2

The question we have to ask ourselves is what are the teachings of Christ?
Indeed, he’s got a very harsh message to the Jews. But at the same time, he has a totally different message to the Gentiles.
To the Jews, he is literally crushing their hope with a message of what it’s really like to have life under the law. There’s no mercy. There’s no wiggle room for messing up. He shows them they have no hope with that old covenant.
With the Gentiles, it’s completely flipped upside down. It’s full of Grace. Full of forgiveness. And it’s all apart from the law.
So the question is, what exactly is the teaching of Christ that confirms we have both the Father and the Son? What exactly is this commandment? Well, we know it’s not the law because we’re not under the law. Not supervised by the law. Jesus is the end of the law for all who believe. So again, what is the commandment in context?
I could point out several parts of the letter, but I think it’s most clear by the same author, as he writes in 1 John 3:23:
*And this is his commandment, that we BELIEVE in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and LOVE one another, just as he has commanded us.*
So, in context, there are two things. Believe in Jesus. And love others.
      It really is that simple.

Ppl we're judging maverick city gospel group for being at the Grammys and they used a verse form 2 Corinthians 6:17 "come out from among them and be ye separate switch the Lord" I told them that Jesus hung around sinners but didn't sin, that we're called to be a light in the dark, not a light in the light, but they still didn't get it 🤦🏾‍♀️. They told me to read 2 Corinthians pray and get a understanding of Scripture. It's like they're trying to say I'm still wrong. Jesus did hang around sinners but some Christians act like they're too good to hang around unbelievers. One thing I get tired of Christians doing is calling everything demonic and putting their mouth all over other people, judging them. They stay doing this to Beyoncé and she's Christian

    • @jesuswithoutreligion

As Christians we need to be aware about the company we keep. That doesn’t mean we can’t be around people who make bad decisions. But we should not be hanging out with vile people who openly reject Jesus and live evil lives.
Note: we need to be careful not to turn every human being or every interaction into somebody we can’t be around. That’s not the context.
For example, I can be around a gay person. I can be around a drunkard. But I shouldn’t be having them over for backyard barbecues and throwing down 12 pack of beer with them. This is about relationships that we carry and how it makes teh church look.
There is a huge difference in some Grammys and one time music event, and you hanging out and investing your life with a bunch of drunk Jesus denying, false God loving, adulterers.
When Jesus was around sinners, his intent was not to indulge in their lifestyle. His intent was to turn them. But he wanted to do it with a loving attitude, not a condescending, looked on your nose, arrogant approach, which it sounds like these people may be trying to get you to do.
So let me try to clarify a little more. At the end of the day the real point is our ministry of showing Jesus to the world can be severely hindered if what other people see is us just hanging out living JUST LIKE the unbelievers. Remember, the Corinthians were guilty of orgies, drunkenness, abusing the Lord supper, they were just living like the rest of the world. It wasn't about the company they kept, but rather how they kept that company. Imagine you have a friend who’s a Christian and you walk into a bar and they’re pounding down shots of tequila, cussing like a sailor, and maybe even flirting with other women, even if they’re married. That’s really what basically going on here. It's all about the image of the church. This is not a threat to these people. But it’s an insult to the ministry if we live the life of the unbelievers.. Now, contrast that with you simply being in the same room with these people, but not indulging in alcohol, foul language, or adulterous activity, but rather an attempt to show them Jesus.
So they take away is when the world sees you who do they see? Do they see Jesus? Or do they say the same thing they see in the unbelievers? If we get sucked into their life, and that can happen, we need to realize we should not be yoked with them. No one will listen to your testimony, if all they see is a drunken adulterer. Our actions speak louder than words.
And again, I want to repeat, this does not mean you cannot be around people who behave like this. This is about you not partaking in their evil activities and insulting Jesus. But if you do, and I can say lots of us probably have done at some point (self included), you're still just as forgiven and loved by Jesus. But to the extent that we give into that kind of peer pressure, it will absolutely impact our ability to lead people to Jesus. You're our performance actually makes a major difference and rather not people take you serious when you talk about Jesus. I'm not saying we're perfect. I'm not saying, we can't stumble. But I'm simply saying if the goal is to leave people did Jesus, we need to be very conscious about the company we keep and what we do with them..
