Barney Rubble is my favorite Flintstones character ever. His witty personality, his small posture and his adorable laughing at his own jokes makes him the cutest and the funniest character in the show. Also he was voiced by the legendary Mel Blanc.

One of my favorite current voice acting stars. I especially like how in the TMNT '12 series, not only did he play their darker version of Shredder, but also did an excellent job as the 1980's Shredder when they had that last crossover before the series ended. The On The Rocks Barney voice was patterned after Mel Blanc's early version, the higher pitched one, to coincide with the look of the characters being patterned after the first season of the original series.

  • @briansivley2001
    @briansivley2001 4 года назад +21

There's a reason why Mel Blanc changed the voice for Barney. Apparently Hanna Barbara were getting complaints about Barney's voice being annoying so Mel Blanc once he found out changed his voice to the Art Carney Impression we know. As for successor I think either Frank Welker or Scott Innes would be the perfect successor to Mel Blanc because they sound practically just like Mel Blanc as Barney. Sure there's some differences but not enough to ruin the character. That's why I don't like Kevin Michael Richardson's Barney because he's mimicking the original Mel Blanc Barney Performance the one no one liked. I didn't even knew about it until after Kevin Michael Richardson did Barney and I heard it.

These video creators create and spread misinformation and the majority of people watching end up believing these lies, meaning over time these videos are slowly re-writing history and changing the definitions of words for future generations. The worst part of it all is when people in the comments point it out and correct the misinformation, but the video creator DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY EDIT THE VIDEO AND FIX IT. It always proves that the creator of the video doesn't truly care about the content or historical accuracy or preservation, they only care about the views and money and viral fame they get from the views. Disgusting that evil people do this and everyone supports this evil behavior instead of trying to stop it.

Barney is such an interesting case because there are two different interpretations of his voice, both created by Mel Blanc. I’m actually going to go against the popular opinion and state that I slightly prefer Blanc’s original take on the character. Blanc’s original voice still sounded considerate, but when it came to his relationship with Fred, he sounded like he could stand up for himself better, and he could really handle the moments where he needed to make fun of Fred well. Blanc had used this voice a lot on The Jack Benny Program and I think that helped. For those who don’t know, Benny played a stingy, older character who liked to pretend that he was 39, so he was often the victim of wisecracks, which also often happened to Fred Flintstone. Therefore, I find that that voice was a really good fit for Barney’s relationship with Fred. Blanc’s Ed Norton take was still good too, but I feel like it was a bit too dumbed down, and made Barney’s wisecracking moments feel a bit out of place. It’s kind of like if Big Bird were to make a bunch of wisecracks; something just feels wrong hearing that voice say those kinds of things. Still, the Norton-type voice does work at representing Barney’s other personality traits.
The fact that Butler was the voice of Yogi is a bit distracting. Butler does sound like he’s trying to not sound like Yogi, which I respect, but it is hard to disguise that voice, especially when Yogi’s voice is already a bit like Norton’s in the first place.
Considering I prefer Blanc’s initial take on the character, it should be no surprise that I consider Kevin Michael Richardson the best replacement. As far as the voices attempting to replicate the Norton-type voice, all of them are pretty good, but I think Welker and Bergman are a bit more consistent. Abrell occasionally sounds a bit too much like Bubble Buddy from SpongeBob SquarePants, but even he’s still good for the most part. As far as the younger voices, Camp sounds more like what I’d imagine a young Barney might sound like.
    My ranking:
    1. Mel Blanc
    2. Kevin Michael Richardson
    3. Frank Welker
    4. Jeff Bergman
    5. Scott Innes
    6. Daws Butler
    7. Brad Abrell

As I’ve said numerous times, my schedule for the year is already locked in. I have no current plans for a Panchito episode, as there is no story to tell - as, again, I have discussed with you. I also have no plans for Speedy until next year at the earliest.
And once more, it is currently not possible for me to do more than one main evolution a month - I won’t explain this again.

@@DaveLeeDownUnder How come you were able to do more than one Disney Evolution per month then? Heck, you did Bugs and Daffy in the same month too.

So it isn't Speedy, it isn't Elmer, it isn't Foghorn Leghorn, and you announced Yosemite Sam for this year. So I'm gonna guess Pepé le Pew is the extra Looney Tune, right?

The Disney evolutions were between 10 and 20 minutes long. The Bugs and Daffy videos were 20 minutes long. The most recent episodes have been between 35 to 40. The longer the episode, the longer they take to research, write and edit. Double the length, double the time to make. Also - the more obscure the focus, the harder I have to dig for resources.
It takes me 2-3 weeks to make an episode now.
I do not appreciate the hostile tone in these comments - and I do not appreciate the continual second guessing.
I am a one man team, working tireless 12 hour days, 7 days a week to pump these videos out for you. One a month is not only my limit time-wise, but also mentally. These videos are completely consuming and I simply need a break after making one. If all I was doing was Evolutions I would burn out pretty damn quick and then there’d be no videos at all. Sometimes I feel some people don’t actually understand the amount of work that goes into something like this. Please respect my workflow, respect my work, and respect me.
There’s only so many times I can explain this.

Also FYI, regardless of their length - I _made_ the Bugs Bunny video at the end of June, and released it at the beginning of July. I _made_ the Daffy video in early July and released it at the end of July. I made those two videos back to back and it was incredibly tiring. Note that the Porky Pig video wasn’t released for almost an entire month. My workflow and release patterns have substantially changed and become more consistent. As a relatively new creator I’m constantly optimizing the way I work - it’s a process of trial and error.

Mel Blanc delivered the most inconsistent vocalization of Barney by far. He was all over the place. When he would do the high nasal version, I hated that one as he was not Barney Rubble with that sound. Maybe those are the ones he did while recuperating. Mel Blanc was a man who deserves awe, but his wandering Barney Rubble voice shows he was still human.
