There is something extremely comical about Reynor doing 2000APM worth of BM mineral harassment, while Dark quietly and casually proxy-hatches Reynor's natural expansion. I think that really, perfectly encapsulates the two playstyles/personalities of these players.
I love the mirror matches, it spices up the content now and then, so don't be afraid to do some more :)
Reminds me of TLO, who just played random for a while in those good old times. Man those were the days - with Husky, HD and TotalBiscuit (RIP, man).
TLO started out as Terran, then switched to Zerg.
He played random in beta I think at least for a couple of tournaments and later did it occasionally. Was always interesting to watch when the opponent really didn’t knew what to do for the initial gaming seconds and minutes.
It was a time where the strategies and build orders weren’t so settles as now - more then 10 years later. He essentially played a wild style and thus surprising his opponents all the time.

gosh those first two games were like gold league ladder games where you get matched against someone in diamond, this is such an entertaining matchup though in the end
I'd love a Play-All series that sees pros play one game of every matchup against each other.
What a cool series! It was neat watching how Dark navigated the roach vs roach/hydra movement and engages.
I love the mineral income overlay btw, I look at that in almost every game.

Tech tree familiarity might have been a factor. I have zero clue on how to play Zerg. My main is Terran, and I know a couple of Protoss builds. Nothing for Zerg.

I enjoy how they’re played basically on a wire the entire time. Maybe if there’s a lot of them casted I can see it getting boring, but a couple here and there is fine imo

Zerg mirror are fine, tos mirrors can be really funny and terran mirrors i snooze
Zerg mirrors are interesting if they reach into the late-game because usually each player has a different tech choice. Protoss mirrors are interesting as well, but Terran mirrors are not fun at all - not to play, not to watch. It is usually the same two strategies dependent on who got an extra Tank instead of a Raven or vice-versa.
I personally enjoy to watch mirrors when the two players have clearly different styles. A serral vs solar probably would bore me to death, but say a gumiho vs byun, or a sos vs showtime can be quite entertaining in my opinion

Well in starcraft 1 flash vwas quite succesfuil in playing random. Maybe raynor also wants to pull that off. He is def crazy enough to try something like this for the memes in sjmaller tournamentsand if it works there who knows ??

Over 600 apm average. I cannot click my left mouse button that fast accurately. I can do about 8 clicks a second with mouse control (just turned 43). Just for reference sake, I haven't finished my first coffee yet and don't feel awake, and my alert reaction time on humanbenchmark was .205 s
No one actually can do that consistently, but if you hold down buttons at high repeat rates the APM will skyrocket. Zergs do that more by holding down the lings and banes keys.

The only time you will catch me rooting for the Toss.
It is so funny how much these matchups have developpe4d since WoL. Back in beta and also later in WoL TvT was the most fun match up to watch. C onstant action as sopn as they can produce units . ZvZ on the other hand was awful since the strongest build for YEARS was a roach all in and opponent also needed early roaches to hold against that. You get some intense micro for up to 1 minute then match over 98% of the time. Oh yea some people tried top abusae this meta, by acting as if they are trhge all-in guy , and instead do something diufferent. Well the problem wilth that is that opponent now hax figured outthat no roaches are coming, so he takes his 20 and marcvhes into the enemy base.. But now ZvZ is a lot more varied and actually fun to watch
Reynor proving for us all that it isn't that protoss players are bad. It's that zerg really is just better at all phases of the game. Thanks Reynor. Meanwhile, Dark continues to play like a sociopath, absent anything approaching common decency. The man plays zerg like he's here collecting scalps.

As Rayner switches to protoss dark could switch to Terran. Having a mech advantage now Rayner switches back to zerg. This causes dark to switch to protoss to counter the swarm. Now Rayner switches to mech. At the last second both players switch to random so their switch can't be countered.... 😂

In competitive Starcraft you might skip ZvZ and TvT but you will never be able to skip pvp, think about that!

What has killed me for years especially playing against Zerg, how pros don’t use scvs or probs as scouts/warning of incoming lings etc. how many times have you seen a player move out just to get blindsided by a ling run by? I’m like is you just send out a few probs down paths you are not moving down, they will spot anything coming way before they attack you. This gives you time to pull back, evacuate or rally units for defense. I would sacrifice 50-150 in probes and never get surprised by a ling run by or banglings. Me watching pros who would would eat me for lunch blindfolded get surprised by run bys again and again drives me crazy.
That's one of the things that makes serral the best. He always has lings everywhere to see opponent movements.
@@emissarygw2264 yep, that’s one only unit that’s more efficient than a scv/prob because you get 2 for 50 minerals. The upside with using the harvesters is they are not effect by the move all army command.
I think its easy to say on ladder, where its big amount of games, but in tournamnets I would guess the logic is a bit different, specially if you play against someone who is favoured against you. If you know you got like 20 % chance of beating someone in an equal macro game, why not go ultra greedy , including no scout? yes you might die very fast to cheese, but in the end whats the difference if you die fast to cheese or you scout and die slowly in equal macro game. And if you get away with ul;tra greed, you finally got a good chance of wining. At least thats what im imagining.
@@firestarter000001 that doesn’t make sense. You protected your resources/ infrastructure. Surprise attacks you are not prepared for disrupts that. A lot of times it cost players the game. How many times have we’ve seen a simple ling run by change the course of a game causing that player to lose? What would be an efficient low cost way to minimize/ stop that? The cheapest unit besides lings are the harvester. You send 2 down paths where surprise attacks can come from. They get destroyed but you now know and can save a much bigger loss. Not doing so doesn’t make sense. I’ve seen in games where a simple scouting unit spots in incoming enemies and they are able to defend against it. Then the very next game they don’t shout and suffer major losses. That is an effective strategy no matter the level of play.

Unscouted Proxies will do that... Crazy thing is if he abandoned the position at the nat and walled off the main, maybe he would've had a shot? 5-6 stalkers and high ground instead of 1-2 stalkers and nothing.

The oracle will kill them much faster, but what are you going to do once it runs out of energy?
There's a big reason you rarely see voidrays against zerg even when they're just spamming ling/bane.

While I agree with the others in that protoss can effectively fight that composition and force zerg to change, I would like to note the tech disparity between 3 colossus and a bunch of zerglings lol

If you're gonna offrace and pick protoss, then you're kind of forced to cheese or pull off some meta strat. Can't just play a standard game and think you'll outperform a better player with a weaker race. At least pick terran and give yourself a fighting chance if that's what you wanna do.
