  • Dyno testing the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4R, now with the full titanium Akrapovic racing exhaust. Pulls were done with and then without the exhaust baffles installed. The engine had standard oil, NOT the special racing oil Ducati claims increases power output even further.
    *Remember, all dynos read slightly differently depending on brand and calibration. Humidity also affects power output. Different bikes can only be properly compared on the SAME dyno with equal humidity and air temps.
    The Panigale V4R is a 90 degree, 999cc V4 engine with Ducati's desmodromic springless valve system. It is the homologated base for the 2022 WorldSBK championship winning Panigale V4R race bike under Alvaro Bautista.

    I have a 2022 V4 S with the same Akrapovic racing exhaust, and after the tuned the bike was in the 199.6 horsepower. So, I don’t need an special oil for that tuned. So, with all the respect to the bike owner, I believed that something is very wrong with the bike. I don’t think that with the oil in the bike will add another 10 extra horsepower. It’s a beautiful bike, enjoy it

      this is factory tune, with the factory racemap it should do over 215

      and different type of engine too. the v4r have dlc piston and the cc is just 998. when the v4s have 1100

    Ducati says the transmission loss is 10.59%. @650ib tested his V4R at 3000 miles. It measured 212 hp at the rear wheel. At the crank you do 212/0.8941 = 237 bhp. Which is exactly correct. He uses Motul V 15w50 oil. So either that dyno needs calibration, or you need the Akrapovic map or air filter or something. That is an extra 6% loss you have, so you should inspect your engine in my humble opinion. Or maybe your engine is still too new.

    You can talk yourself into a lot of things, but 30 hp loss from the wheel to the engine is too much. I'd say 15-18hp maximum loss, so you have around 215-218hp at the engine with the system, which is clearly too little. Are you sure you have the right mapping? The oil is supposed to give you 3hp, not 10. With Ducati, it's usually the mapping that doesn't give you the power. My experience on the track is that the R with exhaust has significantly more power than most other bikes, there is something wrong with your set-up or with the bike.

    question: is it running factory upmap? no extra tune? do you have the stock number for this bike? have you ran 1103 V4 + full exhaust on this dyno? what are the numbers?

    Did you also get the uptune from Ducati? Because without it you won't get much performance upgrade just with the exhaust.

    All dyno's achieve different numbers, although they are usually pretty close to eachother. I'm thinking that the rear tire was slipping on the roller, giving inaccurate readings. You can see the bike moving front-rear under power. That in and of itself can affect power readings. He should definitely had the bike strapped down more securely, if for no other reason than safety. My 1199 requires the rear suspension to be almost totally compressed for the tire to grab the roller properly. The V4R in this example is not compressing the suspension very much at all, which can really let the tire slip due to lack of weight on the tire. Second problem. . the baffles were removed without changing the fuel curve, which forces the engine to run lean. Both runs the exhaust note sound 'tinny', which indicates the mixture is running lean, so the engine was definitely not making it's potential power due to that. I call this a totally BOGUS run, by someone who wasn't making SURE that the bike was SAFE ...PROPERLY TUNED.. had good traction, and had sufficient wieght on the tire to asure against slipping. The rear tire isn't even compressed. Worthless video!!

    218hp on stock exhuast, 237hp on akra exhuast with the race amp enabled, and 240with special oil. This made 200whp which is a full 230 crank hp at 15% drivetrain loss and with NO RACEMAP

    So, Duc markets this as a 240HP, at the crank, bike. the racing oil gives 3.5 hp as stated by ducati, so, you have there a 237hp machine that makes 200HP, barely. Meanwhile, on Akrapovic's site, you have a cbr, rated at 215HP at the crank, making 193hp at the wheel, out of the box. Your first run with the duc was 189 as i saw there and you had to remove the baffles to hit 200 after many attempts. BMW, markets the s1000rr as a 207HP machine, it makes 199 at the wheel, out of the box. The aforementioned cbr with the full akra and tune can go above 205 and so will the bmw i'd guess. the v4r will cost 51k€ or close to 55k USD. So, tell me, how would anyone justify that? The only thing Ducati does better is being light but that's easy to do with any other superbike on your own, it lacks in every other category. and before you say anything about drivetrain losses, everyone has losses. You can't have bikes with significantly lower power ratings do close to or bigger numbers at the wheel. And as tech progresses, efficiency increases, that 15% number was relevant 20 years ago, by that logic, the cbr should be making around 180HP at the wheel and bmw should be making 175 and even the first gen s1k made more than 180 at the wheel, that was 13 years ago. Efficiency has come a long way, so, either ducati is using 1990 level metals for it's gearbox and final drives or it's overstating its numbers. So, again, how is that price premium over its competition justified?

      Lets say its because it is a Duc. You can stretch a bike and put a turbo on it and you will pay less than the v4s and still get more performance.

      Seit dem F430 haben alle Ferraris die angegebene Leistung. Wir hatten schon fast alles auf dem Prüfstand. Vielleicht sollte man über Dinge reden von denen man auch Ahnung hat :D@@vasilisgreen

      I asked Ducati Bournemouth if it was OK and I also asked them to ask Akrapovic and they said it's fine!!

      You definitely can. The baffles are only provided to make it quieter and kinda looks cool, I’m taking mine off or chopping the insulation part off.

      @@mattdaines8054 I’ve just fitted this system to my 23R and the manual definitely states that the baffles should not be removed. Interesting that Ducati Bournemouth say you can. I may call a couple dealers and see what the consensus is

      Yeah the standard map that came with the exhaust. But they didn’t have the special Racing oil.

      it does 237 without the oil. that oil adds another 3.5HP.

      Yeah 230 with standard oil would be the engine HP assumption on MCC’s Dyno. Another dyno in another dealer might read a bit differently. Also, even not having the straps tied down with the proper amount of force can make a difference. Too tight or too loose can cost HP readings. For instance, if the straps are too loose, the tire might be slipping on that roller. Too tight, and you’re adding rolling resistance.

    Wow its so funny reading some comments, it dosen’t matter if ducati advertises numbers that dont add up irl, thats the beauty of freedom of choise, they are not forcing you to buy the bike, and even if it only does 198whp i highly doubt that 70% of every day riders would be able to use the bikes full potential on track or street for that matter.

      If Ducati says this bike makes 240hp I am a thousand percent certain it does, but how they get it who knows. The V4R is known to pull like a freight train past the comp in all three professional race classes WSBK BSB MotoAmerica so power it isn’t lacking when it comes to straight line speeds.

    Very nice and expensive. I mounted a QD Full Exhaust on my supersport. It's not the V4 Power but i am happy withnthe Power increase 😅

    Not impressed. Im disappointed considering it doesnt produce the hp that ducati claims. And just like someone stated that its different dyno machines, different operators, different atmospheric conditions, however, those 3 factors wont make up for the missing 40 hp that ducati claims it has

      this is wheel hp and on the factory ECU map, 200whp with 15% loss is 230 crank hp, or, EXACTLY what they rate the bike at for euro 5 compliance!!!! ...............The race map would have it more like 212-215 whp...which would be 218 ish at the wheels with the better oil...or assuming an 11.5% drivetrain loss....a full 240 hp at the crank

    Clearly a very overpriced 200 rear wheel hp. Aprilia RSV4 makes 200 RW hp bone stock. The extra 100cc motor size is irrelevant to average buyers

    I'm wondering what Eylon Musk would actually think about all this fanfare of "technologies" requirements to produce this type of engine/motor to power this type of bike, when, if the brains had been put together to thinks about "battery technology" rather than fossil fuel... Less than ten years from now, these gas guzzlers will be dying dinosaurs on their way to extinction... Been riding Harleys for decades, and when I look at my old bagger, I just shake my head left and right...
