Hello Michelle. To answer your question, coconut oil and coconut butter are very different. Coconut oil is the result of removing the water content, and the solid fibers from the mature white coconut meat. Coconut butter is the result of removing the water content only. Coconut cream is the result of removing the solids from the white coconut meat and leaving the liquid content. Coconut milk is the result of adding water to the coconut cream. We have an article on our website that explains in detail how to make cold pressed coconut oil at home. www.caribsunsations.com/single-post/2015/07/19/Homemade-Coconut-Oil-Cold-Press-Method Hope this helps, peace and love :)
Carib Sunsations thank you for explaining it all. Its greatly appreciated! I've seen coconut oil and coconut cream in the stores but not coconut butter. I'll check Wholefoods or Trader Joe's. Thank you for your time.
Coconut butter is the coconut cream without the water content. You get this by processing the mature coconut meat with a slow grind juicer, then put the cream in a straining cloth. Put the cloth in a glass bowl and leave overnight. The liquid will separate and you now have the butter. I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but this way works for us. Hope this was helpful. Peace and love.
