I remember my first time of seeing Gary Numan on the Teletour. During this track, he operated a stage mounted searchlight , slowly moving it over the audience. A simple effect, but it worked so well with this song. I,ve seen him now over 100 times, and he always puts on a great visual ( and sound) show.
LOVE these keys parts - had the privilege of playing this track live with Gary on the classic albums tour - best keys parts ever .... quite "fly on the windscreen" at times too
I remember the the Teletour at the Playhouse theatre in Edinburgh when I took my youngest brother to his first gig ... The light show made it even creepier and it was the first and only time I was ever near the front, at any concert ... Great times ... Still have my program as well.😊😊
Take a bow Mr Hurst, this 80's version is by far the best from Gary & I would pay the entrance ticket to a TWD's gig just to listen to Paul play this solo 👏👏
This song is from Numan's first Tubeway Army album recorded when he was 17-18 years old, He stumbled on a synth in the studio - he had no prior keyboard training and came up (among others) with this - amazing!
@@PaulKingsleyHurst i have seen tubeway days but tbh i`m not keen on the singer. i hope its not you hahaha. unless its the recording sound. i prefer your voice.
@@darrentaylor3371 no I wasn't singing in Tubeway Days, but it is me singing on my own versions. We have just had a change of line-up and will be announcing our new TD singer very soon.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
I've listened to this so many times now. I feel like a traitor saying this but this version is better than the original. Forgive me Gary. 😩 Well done mate. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Thank you very much. You should check out my band Tubeway Days. Loads of stuff on YT including this, ruclips.net/video/27Zc-8v0gmk/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Well done, this is absolutely spot on. I always loved the Wembley live version and this is such a good reproduction, amazing work! Paul…🎵🎶🎹🎸🥁🎛🎚”Beautiful Sound”
You are a very talented guy on the keyboard Paul & an Excellent tutorial 🎹🎼🎹 I wish Gary Numan would use a least one or two analogue synths these days,i know he won't be no harm in wishing....
I heard it now 6 times in a row... I can't believe this is Paul, tbh... Why? Not just the voice, but the intonations, the way Numan speaks, the tiny nuances... If this is indeed Paul, damn.... But I SERIOUSLY doubt it.
Amazing any chance of a tutorial on Every Day I Die for the settings on the odyssey I have the Korg VST app of the odyssey on my iPad Pro but I'm just a beginner but would love to play some of these songs from Mr Numan. Thanks for your time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

6 years later and the algorithm brought me to this masterpiece. What a treat.

Just wish Numan himself still made music like this today
Take a bow Mr Hurst, this 80's version is by far the best from Gary & I would pay the entrance ticket to a TWD's gig just to listen to Paul play this solo 👏👏
Still can't believe that this is not the original from 81. Absolutely amazing Paul.

Exceptional. That lead on the Living Ornaments version of this tune always mystified me - this clarifies things quite a bit. Excellent post!

@Gibson Houston Instablaster :)
A faithful reproduction of Roger Mason's classic performance back in 1980 and thanks to your video, I can now play this for myself, minus the Odyssey.
So authentic to the LO 80 version I actually expected crowd noise at the end! Outstanding insight into how that solo was done! 10/10 :)
finally someone who actually listens to keyboard lines properly ! better than some of the idiots playing live with mr numan of late......excellent

BRAVO!!!
Superb
That's fucking brilliant.
Holy shit, that was amazing
Excellent cover.
Funny...always thought it was a Billy Currie solo.
Roger Mason played this one, I believe. Billy was 1979 TTP.

Wooow 👍🏻👍🏻
Dammit, really gonna have to get the Odyssey fixed now! And would LOVE to see the patch for this.
Always loved the "knocking" intro. Synth bass I assume ?
Super i Love gary
You have long fingers, Paul. Ideal for the keys!
I have always wondered about that opening sound.
You are a very talented guy on the keyboard Paul & an Excellent tutorial 🎹🎼🎹
I wish Gary Numan would use a least one or two analogue synths these days,i know he won't be no harm in wishing....
Wow!!! 😄
Wow amazing mate, i thought it was Numan singing initially, :)))
I heard it now 6 times in a row...
I can't believe this is Paul, tbh...

Amazing any chance of a tutorial on Every Day I Die for the settings on the odyssey I have the Korg VST app of the odyssey on my iPad Pro but I'm just a beginner but would love to play some of these songs from Mr Numan.
Thanks for your time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hell yes please! This is one of the most epic Billy Currie solos played live (apart from when he was in Ultravox). Would love to know the settings.
@@simonhamid Yes-PLEASE: I second this request!
@@simonhamid not Billy Currie but Roger Mason's solo
Same please! Just acquired a 1979 ARP Odyssey 2 days ago and looking forward to releasing my own inner Numan!
Geil
Something very very special. Nice one Paul.
Now go for Billy Currie's version
ruclips.net/video/FTJmOgjueIs/видео.html
Do you have a patch sheet for the settings?
superb. it could be mistaken for the original
Sounds fab ! What is the synth above the Arp (top left of screen) ?
Thanks, it is a Novation 61SLmkii controller keyboard.
PaulKingsleyHurst Cheers ! Too cheeky to ask which sound software it's triggering ?
JP4 intro is Pro53, Pro-Soloist is Oddity2, Voxhumana is Oddity2 all vst and then real KORG Odyssey.
PaulKingsleyHurst Nice one ! will check these bad boys out (the vst's that is)
