Skateboarding has gotten cool again, in the 90's everyone lost respect for awesome stuff like acid drops and boneless tricks, wall rides and bombing hills - and small curb tricks. Things like that were considered "old school" and lame, technical or big tricks were what was in. But a lot people just aren't suited for that stuff, and instead of killing themselves trying to learn it they could be having way more fun skating with style.
When I stopped skating all the time, in like '03, was when it just got super lame with corporate mall skate shops and Tony Hawk games, people wanted to see crazy combos like in the game.
I've been seeing a return to creativity and I like it
I agree but aren't crazy flip tricks creative sometimes? You can still make some look really good.
Five Hour Energy all skating is creative until you put it in a competition format

Most people aren't suited for big stuff. I had a lot of fun skating as a kid, and looking back I didn't have a huge bag of tricks.
