Panama Canal - Celebrity Edge - 2022

- This was the first transit of a Celebrity Edge Class Ship of the Panama Canal.
We entered the locks before a turnaround in Lake Gatun and a port stop in Colon.
We disembarked while still in the lake, then met the ship later in Colon.
We were also on that first Celebrity Edge cruise 1/2 canal transit. Loved Captain Tasos - he did a great job being the first to bring an Edge class ship through the locks. Loved the aft views from the Sunset Bar, even more than the fore views from the Retreat sundeck. Only downside of the cruise were scary pushy vendors in Cartegena, Columbia.
The Panama Canal is bucket list territory for us! Great video - thanks for sharing it

Did the EDGE transit the NEW, larger Panama Canal locks? I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit through the original ones.
Correct, we used the new locks, to big for the old. It is a great experience no matter which locks are used. I hope you get to experience the trip!
Good cruise and good camera work! We watched from deck 11 starboard.
BTW if you want a tight squeeze under a bridge we once took Carnival Miracle from Jacksonville. She had 8’ of clearance under the Dames Point Bridge, so close they stopped traffic on the bridge because they thought it would freak out motorists on the bridge!

I am interested in a panama canal cruise but the opening of this video was too loud and obnoxious for me to continue. Great video if you intention is to scare people away.
Sorry you feel that way, you can forward by 25 seconds to bypass the intro. I highly recommend a canal cruise, especially if you are into engineering.
