- 3 rare APR-5000 are currently under full restoration. Works are almost finished, just some details to end and it'll be time for the final calibration. Music is coming from a digital recorder derived from the Series 5000: the PCM-3402, son of the PCM-3202.
EDIT: this happened in May 2016. Two more APR-5002 were refurbished in the meanwhile. Развлечения

Do you repairing Sony APR? I have big problems with my 5002 model. Control partialy not work.
Nice collection!! I have a Sony APR-5003V in good condition, that I use for accessing my archives. Quick question for you if you happen to see this... I've never changed the lithium battery in mine, and I'm guessing it's about time I should. I did find all the info on how to do that in another forum. But, I'm wondering if removing and replacing it will cause all of my calibration data to be erased. Is there any way to change the battery and retain the memory? Is there a capacitor buffer that would give me a few minutes? Or, is the memory powered when the machine is on? Or, is it possible to jumper in an additional battery?
There is no provision for retaining the stored data for the time necessary to replace the battery. Once you remove it, all data are lost. Also no sort of external storage was possible, contrary to Studer A8xx series, for example.
@@hdvs Thanks for letting me know. Guess I'm going to have to re-learn how to calibrate this machine.
Very nice. would you have any for sale?
No, sorry
This is DASH format?
Only the machine running a tape is DASH. All the three remaining recorders are pure analogue.
How did you clean the ceramic capstan so good? What solution? Thank you!
Secret weapon ;-)
Why they made ceramic capstans instead of ordinary ones?
In order to get less tape slipping. MCI and Sony used ceramic shafts on their machines. Also some Tascam models used ceramic shafts instead of steel.
Probably they are also non magnetic.
