I'm such a HUGE foodie!!! It's like living a whole culture and linking us together, just nothing better than eating and learning how to cook and forwarding those to future generations
Honestly, this was emabarassing to watch. More than living culture and linking things together, I see people from all over the world butchering their own cultures, creating abnoral monstruosities to please the undeducated american palates. It's really sad to see how much people are ready to lose their whole identity just for money. To hear that they use the word "halal" to refer to a plate is just riddiculus. "Gyros" is already singular, only a moron would say "gyro". The way they pronouce it also, oh my god, I could cry. And last time I checked, gyros and kebab are different things, and the greek don't really go along with the turkish. Especially because gyros is typically made with pork. There is nothing Italian whatsoever about that beef sandwich. You serve that in italy, costumers would throw it back to you. And those lamb noodles oh my god who is the idiot who thought of that abomination. It's clear you americans like pasta, you are an obese country, but you don't have to put pasta everywhere for the sake of it. I'm sorry but this is how cultures get lost in capitalism, not a life-changing experience for privileged americans.
When they showed that Anthony Bourdain clip I shed a tear. The man died on my birthday so it was even sadder. I loved and still love to watch all of his shows.
I was institutionalized in a psychiatric ward a week or so before his death so I found out while I was in there :( he was a big part of my everyday life with his writing and film etc :< but he lives on :3 there’ll never be anyone that matches that pompous self loathing attitude he had :33

Ima Chicago native and I’ve never had a Cuban, but this video made me want that SO BADLY. I grew up with so much good food through real polish w mustard, Italian beef, and deep dish. I want to try everything in this video

I've never been a fan of sweets, but every sandwich on here is to die for. I had to have a yummy grilled ham & cheese sammy while I watched this.

31:22, Slaters Deli, I've been there good sandwiches and made to order. Everyone is friendly and polite. I was stationed at the Naval Weapon Station Earle down the road from the deli. Slater's isn't afraid to stuff their sandwiches unlike some establishments.
Never had Halal before but I'll tell u what, I just googled The Halal Guys and theres actually one up the street from me. I'm about to try it tonight!

I was happy that you went to New Orleans. I grew up in southern Louisiana. and I Love Cafe du Monde, But you started out with all those sandwiches and I thought surely you would include a New Orleans Muffalata from Central Grocery. Maybe you had to choose so that you would not have two examples from one city; but it's New Orleans, for Pete's sake! The City is Food!

Despite what they say, every time I hear gyro pronounced "jai-roh" instead of "yee-roh," I wince. Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Halal guy: sauce everywhere coming right sauce.
The white sauce of the halal guys is actually just Garlic sauce and the red sauce is either made out of red pointy peppers or red bell peppers (paprika) called Sambal.
How i know this? Worked at a asian bakery and every order had the white sauce on it.
If youre in love with it lmk i can send you the recipe :) very easy to make.
