- Aww yeah, it's time for Mordecai and Rigby to make their video game debut! Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land is the one and only Regular Show game, and was developed by the same team behind last week's Adventure Time game. Will this be just as good?

I like that the commercial say this is the best regular show ever made when in fact it's also the only regular show game ever made so it's not technically wrong
Regular show is about life in your 20s
Close enough is about life in your 30s
In the Americanized culture concept of course
You are wrong
@@johnisBrave They aren't
I'm 30 and I'm still living Regular Show
Next show is going to be set in 40’s?
I beat this game when I was 10 the very next morning I got it for Christmas and thought "Is that it?"
I’ve always wanted a 3D style regular show game, good or not.
It's baffling that Adventure Time got half a dozen games and Steven Universe has two full-fledged RPGs, yet Regular Show wasn't even given a second chance at a video game. Heck, O.K. KO got a home console game.
@@CartoonReview dang that blows
I always wanted a Regular Show game that's like No More Heroes. Huge Threatening Enemies and Boss Battles, but you still have to do chores and pay for entry into those bosses.
WOW, ONLY ONE REGULAR SHOW GAME?! I am legitimately shocked. But as always, great review.
This game is a throwback to the games that the creator played in his younger years. It is exactly like the games of the NES/Master System era of video games. Especially the one hit deaths. You actually had to practice to get good at the game. They make this exact joke numerous throughout Regular Show whenever they’re playing video games (which are based off of The Sega Master System & other 8-Bit games because that’s what the creator owned/played as a kid).
So I finally got to the final boss of this god awful game. I spent about 13 continues trying to beat the 5th and 6th phases. On my 14th continue I managed to beat the 5th phase. Of course, the 6th phase completely caught me off guard and I died. A few more continues later and I’m back at the 6th phase. I got 2 hits in then died because of wonky hit detection. THEN MY F*CKING GAME CRASHED.
Beat it!
That is a serious achievement hahahahaha
I feel ya man. *I feel ya...*
Speaking of Wayforward. You want to know not only one but two far superior games where you play as two characters in a platformer with power ups sprinkled throughout? Well, they're on the Game Boy Color and are both based on a forgotten 99-00 spinoff cartoon called Sabrina: The Animated Series. Pretty underrated games with good graphics and fun gameplay.
man, regular show deserved so much more when it came to video games. i always thought a beat em up would be perfect for that franchise by itself, not just in battle crashers
The really frustrating part about this game is the amount of concept art you collect in it. Almost all of it, which would have made for a lot of cool levels that pay homage to 8-bit games, was never used and it makes it extremely obvious that this game was made in a time crunch. If it was a 1980s-1990s game, I could forgive the poor quality to an extent, but this is the 2010s. Where's the quality control, let alone the effort?
As you said, the multiple styles don't work due to poor level design and awful enemy placement. It can work if given more time and polish (games like Crash 3 succeed with their variety), but considering how short the overall experience is especially with the amount of unused concepts, it never reaches its full potential. As much as I dislike the GBC Powerpuff Girls games especially Battle Him!, I can't deny there was some level of effort given the time crunch of making three games, with the insane amount of cheat codes, fun nods to the show, and even pictures of staff members who worked on the games. Regular Show 3DS is a better game overall, but its low quality just frustrates me a lot more. Easily one of the worst and most disappointing games I've ever played. Calling it a train wreck is too kind for my liking.
Hopefully the next game will fare better. I've recently been playing the first 2 Resident Evil games on PS1. Resident Evil 2 is a damn good game, and one of my new favourites on the console.
It's especially frustrating knowing that WayForward is capable of so much better. Cartoon Network should hav given them more development time.
I think quality control was way better in the 1980s and 90s that it is now
I did some research about it and it seems like this game truly had a horrible development cycle. I even found recent comments from the director saying that he's still sad with how it came out given this was the first game he ever fully directed and genuinely expected it to be great but then almost gave up on the job after it bombed feeling that he wasn't good enough. I may hate this game guts but I can't help but feel sorry for everyone involved.
That's pretty tragic. It is pretty heartbreaking to have a director's first game come out poorly. I would love to read his comments but I don't think the director is to blame here.
Man this was my most favourite 3ds game growing up. This and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon
I don't want to sound very nitpicky but the game says that Mordecai and Rigby are in "8-bit" but the graphics are actually in 16-bit. So, really the title makes no sense and Wayforward should've made the graphics in actual 8-bit if they wanted to go with that name. Sorry for that small rant.
To quote BNGR (Balrog). "If you're gonna call your game 8-bit, make it 8-bit, otherwise call it Mordecai and Rigby in retro land."
What's more stupid is how the final boss death is in 8 bit, which makes me confused if they realized the title typo at the end, or do they not care.
I feel like flapjack would have a great side scroller game or over world type
Remember when Mordecai said there’s no such thing as a bad video game in the Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special? He was wrong. Very Completely wrong.
Both Regular Show and Mucha Lucha had one video game each!
I hope you review Mucha Lucha for the GBA soon.
well umm there is the flash games does those count?
There’s also a couple mobile games. I have one on my iPhone.
I watched the trailer for it and I felt scammed after buying it
I feel your pain.
Actually, I kind of enjoyed that game, I guess I just had a better experience with this game, it sort of feels nostalgic actually watching you play it.
Wait *YOU GET TO FIGHT GARRETT BOBBY FERGUSON JR!?!? IM GETTING THAT SHIT GAME!!!*
“They’re made for kids “ mordecai: You pis*ed me off
I found my cartridge last week and I replayed it. I'm ngl, it's great until 3-3, which hurts in new game plus. Still stuck on 3-4. Thank lord for the infinite life code
Update: Finished new game + in my free time this morning and you don't even get anything -_-
The music in this game reminds me of Shovel Knight
Regular Show deserves another game
Clearly Shantae 3 was Wayforward's main priority at this time.
This is from the same studio that made Shante, HOW DID THEY MESS THIS UP SO BADLY???????????
I had never seen this show when I played the game and enjoyed it as a SEGA Master System love letter personally.
Only watched this cause I beat this game after having it for 5 years or some shit very poggers
8/10 it has a little something for everyone
The dark souls of platformers/shoot em ups/top down shooter mashups
Goodluck with Battle Crashers 😨
Loved this game
I know it's been shut down for ages now... but would you consider fusion fall????
I'm definitely considering it as a sort of finale for this series.
LMFAO I WAS 8 WHEN I FINISHED THE GAME XD
Maybe part of the design of the game was to fit with the frustrating video game adaptations of the 80's and 90's alike…
I have no doubt this was part of the thought process, but a game that is deliberately unenjoyable to play is still unenjoyable.
Great review, although I do think you're being a LITTLE overly harsh. "Worst CN game ever" is a bold label for basically anything created by WayForward. It's definitely flawed and yeah the jumping hitboxes are legitimately so terrible it's uncharacteristically amateurish of this developer. But the sprite art rules, the music is kickass, and the swapping between 3 gameplay styles on the fly is really fresh and unique - I could honestly see another developer (or even WayForward themselves) taking this concept and polishing it for an original IP. Also, even Mordecai being objectively more useful than Rigby most of the time can be seen as kind of in character for the show, since Mordecai is canonically better than Rigby at basically everything lol.
“You know who ELSE starred in a mediocre 3DS game?”
You going to cover the mobile games? You might need an older phone or tablet to be able to play Regular Arcade which has quite a few Regular Show mobile games in it.
I actually liked this game. But I never beat the final boss and I bought it on sale.
The music I give me a mega man vibe
I beat the final Boss as a 10 yr old 😎 but idk I like challenging games it was fun to me
I played this game all the time loved it so much
the true goty
I honestly like this game even just starting to play it now, the cheap deaths/ bullshit moments. But those just remind me of how NES games are, a bullshit level of difficulty. So unless this game was supposed to pay homage to those style of games, I say they did a good job. I also like switching between playstyles quickly to progress through the level. I haven't made it to the final boss yet but it sounds like hell and I'm ready for it
I still kinda like the game
Cake Quest was better 💀
Review "The Dragon Prince" - plz
Wait…. WayForward made a bad game??
I like this game
I think this game is decent
I beat this game at 12 o_O (it was difficult as fuck)
