10:18 One thing sadly not mentioned in this video about Giratina here, is that Giratina is seemingly also pretty much the pokemon world's version of Satan/Lucifer, having several parallels in its design and lore, as well as even having some direct connections to the God of the pokemon world: Arceus.
Team Rocket in the Sun & Moon series had a Mimikyu that Jessie would take good care of (like in one episode, its costume would get torn and she fixes it). Although he hates Pikachu and would attack him whenever it gets the chance.
(Explaining Ghost-types from Gen-8 onward) - *Hisuian Typhlosion:* Based on Kamuy-huci (an Ainu goddess of the hearth, whose fire serves as a gateway between the living and spirit worlds) - *Galarian Corsola and Cursola:* Bleached coral, using ectoplasm in place of coral branches - *Galarian Yamask and Runerigus:* Norse runestones instead of Egyptian masks and sarcophagi; also a Deildeghast, a Norwegian spirit forced to haul around a boundary stone as punishment - *Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark:* Based on the spectral aspects of youkai, as well as vengeful ghosts and revenants - *Sinistea and Polteageist:* Poltergeists that haunt ceramicware, these ones filled with black tea; may also be influenced by genies in lamps, and Narigama (possessed kettle youkai) - *Dreepy, Drakloak, Dragapult:* Themed after Diplocaulus (a prehistoric amphibian) and stealth bomber jets like the Spirit B-2 - *Spectrier and Shadow Rider Calyrex:* Lots of spiritual horses, like the Pooka, Llamrei, Dub Sainglend, or the Horseman of Famine; Shadow Rider Calyrex is just Calyrex riding on Spectrier - *Basculegion:* Wreathed and empowered by the souls of its brethren that didn't survive a migration cycle - *Skeledirge:* Many crocodile-based ghost stories in Spain, like Cocollona, the Lizard of Magdalena, the Drac de Na Coca, and so on; also, heavily themed after Dia de los Muertos, with its calavera-decorated face - *Ceruledge:* May be enspired by El Cid, a famous dual-wielding Spanish knight, said to have won his most important battle after his death - *Bramblin and Brambleghast:* Tumbleweeds, which are mostly made of dead, dry vegetation; also the Alicornia, a demon that possesses tumbleweeds and steals passerbys' souls as it blows around - *Greavard and Houndstone:* The Dip, dog-shaped spirits that drain vitality; their head protrusions resemble grave candles and tombstones - *Annihilape:* Might be inspired by Primeape's Sun Pokedex entry about getting so angry that it dies...though Annihilape hardly has the peaceful look that said entry describes on the dead Primeape's face (and the means to evolve, Rage Fist, isn't present back then); it could just be emanating its rage beyond its physical body, which may lean into the spiritual aspects of Mankey's and Primeape's berserker inspirations - "too angry to die", you could say - Flutter Mane: Paradox version of Misdreavus - *Gimmighoul and Gholdengo:* Ghouls that are obsessed with gold coins; Gholdengo is a lot like the classical legend of El Dorado (of a gold-coated king), as well as tunjos (gold figures that serve as votive offerings) - Poltchageist and Sinistcha: Tsukumogami of Japanese tea caddies and teacups; the former contains matcha powder, and the latter is made of matcha tea - *Pecharunt:* Could be because of the Peachs of Immortality from Chinese myth, or the Konaki-jiji (a baby-like youkai that craves sympathy from humans) or even the hinnagami (a doll youkai that grants its owner's wishes, but makes more and more demands in turn, eventually possessing their owner until death)
Is pecharunt also based on momotaro the peach boy, since the loyal three, are the dog, monkey, and pheasant. And orgepon is based on the ogre of that story
Just to iterate, Mimikyu on average don’t dress up as Pikachu because of jealousy, it’s just that they want to be able to interact with people and other Pokémon and dressing up as Pikachu makes them approachable but still obviously not a Pikachu. Mimikyu still want to be recognized as Mimikyu, there’s actually a whole song about it
Mimikyu is a darling when you watch the anime. It just wants love, And Giratina, the ghost dragon, is basically the Pokémon equivalent of Satan. Happy New Years guys!
Gengar is also a dark reflection of Clefable. Since its weight is that of Clefable and Haunter put together, Japanese fans theorize that its a haunter possessing the Shadow of a Clefable, lending to it being a doppelganger
I really like the ghost type explained video. I consider it the beginning of the most recent videos of the pokemon type explained series. The next ones are also pretty fun.
Glad you both like Mimikyu. Just to give a bit more lore on it, Mimikyu’s real body is sensitive to sunlight, so it wears a Pikachu both because it wants to be loved as much as Pikachu without people beinb afraid of it (unfortunately to some the costume comes off as creepy 😭), and it offers protection for its skin. Also if anyone ever messes up its costume, it will spend all day repairing it, gets frustrated because it has a hard time getting the costume right and cries about it, and mercilessly seeks revenge on whoever messed its costume up 😭
Of course you guys being fans of scary movies would love this type. My favorite is probably Froslass. In regards to the costumes Bethany looks great. Ken you freaked the the hell out lmao. Happy new year to both!
A ghost actually evolves over time. Usually a will o wisp is the first manifestation, it becomes a floating head, it becomes a specter gaining hands and a body, finally a squat full body ghost that gains height. Once it hits the ghost hits that full body form it will become a seirei type ghost which is a ghost that can access some powers of physically touching the material world and has control of matter shifting. A god level ghost is extremely powerful and rare as it can control elements to an infinite degree and can easily kill anything in its path if not controlled correctly. Only a Shaman can control ghosts. A shaman usually controls a ghost using an object from the ghost’s past life that had significant meaning. A samurai would have had a specific sword they used and cherished but by combining the ghost with the object it becomes something new called an over soul. It allows the ghosts to interact with the material world and over time its ghostly shape changes to reflect its evolution. The exact requirements of becoming a shaman isn’t really known but being able to see ghosts is step 1.
Some people also theorize that Decidueye is based on the Hawaiian Stilt Owls! An extinct genus of owls that once lived on Hawaii, which the Alola region (where Decidueye comes from) is based on! This genus is believed that have its massive legs be more apparent compared to modern owls, which is why Decidueye stands tall and steady. Additionally it gains a Regional Variant in the Hisui region, where instead of becoming a ghost type, it becomes a fighting-type, becoming extremely skilled in delivering powerful kicks alongside its arrows.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames definitely gives it more reason for being a ghost type upon evolving! The ghost typing can be a nod to the fact that these owls are extinct, a morbidly fascinating bit of trivia!
There is another thing about Ghost pokémon that a lot of people are overlooking or in most cases being completely unaware of.. And that is all the good some ghost Pokémon Do. Like one of the original Episodes, specificly: " EP 20. The Ghost of maiden's Peak ". Thanks to that Ghastly.. The Story of the Woman was being kept alive, even long past her death.. although a sad tale.. she deserves to be remembered.. and The Ghost story helps keep it " alive " ❤~
Fun Mimikyu fact. In generation 7 it had an unique z-move called “Let’s snuggle forever”. You can find a video on the official pokemon youtube channel that shows the animation.
One interesting fact about each Pokemon Type, is that they seem to represent more then just the one thing they are called. Dark-type, for instance, represents the concept of evil, the idea of mean, underhanded methods, as well as Nocturnal creatures. Ghost, on the other hand, in addition to representing ghost, the dead and spirits, also have a lot of shadowy motive with moves such as Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, Shadow Ball, etc.
Wow, did not expect to see guys make a reaction to this Pokémon Type video next, lol. Regardless, I had a fun time seeing your viewing of the various inspirations behind each Ghost Pokémon. Some of these inspirations were indeed quite spooky 👻 . Also, nice Hazbin Hotel cosplay you guys 😆. I certainly didn't expect that either, although it was very fitting given the Typing we're dealing with here (P.s. Sorry Ken, lol). However I must say, we're definitely a season or holiday too late for this sort of Type video, and the nature of your costumes as well, lol. Either way, great video 👍. Initially, I thought you guys were following some sort of pattern, but now I'm eager to see which Type video you'll check out next 😄!
We were following the playlist but this kind of lines up with the Hazbin Hotel cosplay 🤗 And this is due to a bet we do on Death Battle reactions for who gets to choose cosplay outfits for New Years Eve and Day 🥳
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames That does make sense 😆. Even I mentioned that your cosplay was fitting for this Type video. But ever since the bone caught on ghostly fire and its skull got a redesign as well, not to mention it’s just a Hawaiian flame dancer. How could I not love it?

Decidueye approves both this reaction and Ken's beautiful cosplay (Beth's cute too)🦉🌱👍. So every year we have a bet our death battle reactions. Winner gets to choose cosplay outfits for New Years Eve and New Years Day…can probably guess who won this year 😜
……huh. Wasn’t expecting a Pokémon video today. Also wasn’t expecting the Ghost types to be next. On New Years no less. Is there a correlation for you two to do it on this particular day? Well Fighting types were supposed to be next, but since you’re going out of order, I want to at least urge you two to leave 2 particular Types for last in this order. Dragon Types, then Fairy Types. Both of these types have introduction videos that enhance the actual Types Explained videos. One of his best works so please save those for last. Oh but don’t watch the videos that say “Gen 8” or “Gen 9” Those are meant to be watched after you go through the 18 types. And they’re about all the Pokémon within that Generation instead of typings.
This was the only one out of order. It’s Ghost type to try and tie in a bit to Hazbin Hotel and us being demons and what not. We already did the evil one 🤗 was tough to find a gaming video that would make sense with these outfits 😂
@@sullymcdaniel4901 It’s already been added to the playlist they’re using. They’re doing this in chronological order. But the reason they went out of order to watch the Ghost types is because their costumes are Hazbin Hotel characters and they already did the Dark type video, so they had to find another one that fits the theme of hell or demons.
@@Lucifersadoptedson Basically the result of their Death Battle bets. Winner gets to pick the costumes for New Years. Gjenganger is pronounced "yen-gan-ger" (hard g)
Thanks for letting us know how it is actually pronounced 🙂🥳
Cool costumes
Thanks 🙏
Oh Ken 😏

i love pokemon and i love ur cosplay. no notes
Thanks! 🤗
Was this meant to be out around Halloween lol?
So every year we have a bet our death battle reactions. Winner gets to choose cosplay outfits for New Years Eve and New Years Day…can probably guess who won this year 😜
@ gotcha
2 MINUTES HELLO
ALSO COSTUMES
Oh but don’t watch the videos that say “Gen 8” or “Gen 9”
Those are meant to be watched after you go through the 18 types.

Ah, okay.
Well I look forward to Fighting Types whenever that may be.
And Your costumes look great. Ken’s blank stare adds to it 😆❤️🔥
Ken, I think your office is a bit cold.
😳🤭😇
Damn Ken, slay queen ✨💅✨
🤣
I don't care what anyone says, I think it's TRUE DEDICATION to make your significant other happy, even if it means a full on cosplay of her choice!
Cool cosplays
Thanks 😊
Nice Outfits
Thanks 😁
You both look amazing
Thanks! 😊

It’s already been added to the playlist they’re using.
They’re doing this in chronological order. But the reason they went out of order to watch the Ghost types is because their costumes are Hazbin Hotel characters and they already did the Dark type video, so they had to find another one that fits the theme of hell or demons.
I’m dying what is going on???

Basically the result of their Death Battle bets.
Winner gets to pick the costumes for New Years.
And since it is Hazbin Hotel characters, they had to find a video that fits around the theme of hell or demons, but apparently couldn’t find any so they went with Ghost type Pokémon instead.
