I’ve done a lot of videos on cortisol, especially as it relates to the adrenal body type or adrenal glands. But I haven’t done a video on the foods that lower cortisol. That’s what we’re going to talk about today.
Of course, there are a lot of benefits to reducing cortisol, but we’re not going to get into that today. Instead, I want to cover the foods that can help you lower cortisol naturally.
Cortisol adapts the body to a stress state. It's important to note that the body doesn’t know the difference between mental stress and physical stress.
A high level of sugar in your blood affects cortisol and adrenaline. In other words, consuming sugar, refined carbs, and starches keeps you in stress mode.
On the flip side, the Healthy Keto® diet and intermittent fasting help lower cortisol and promote a sense of calm.
The best foods to lower cortisol and stress:
    1. Egg yolks
    2. Organ meats
    3. Nutritional yeast or sunflower seeds
    4. Dark leafy green vegetables
    5. Salmon and other fatty fish
    6. Probiotics and fermented foods (sauerkraut, kefir, pickles, kimchi)

Thank you Fidel I was having a hard time reading his board even with my contacts in 😢 so I appreciate you typing this up for us!
I sure wish Dr. Berg would answer my question I've asked more times than I can count about WHY Sauerkraut causes me to have migraines!!! Because he constantly tells us how great it is for our systems and I love it I just can't eat it because of the fact it gives me horrible migraines as does pickles...I wonder if it is because of the vinegar in them?🤔
That's the only thing I can think of and I do know I learned about the pickles from a old Neurologist and because I forgot one time he mentioned it to me that pickles were a trigger for them whoa was that a big reminder after eating 4-5 of the best tasting dill pickles I ever ate getting one of the worst migraines I've ever had I still remember that one to this day.
Gosh I'd love to reap the benefits of sauerkraut if only I could eat it again like when I was a child.
But I will bump up my eggs (sorry can't eat organ meats ew😖🤢).
      Thanks again Fidel

I eat an omelette with fatty fish, tomatoes and kale every morning and I have never felt better. No cravings or hunger until lunch at 2PM (usually a salad with meat). Then I eat a light dinner around 7pm and a glass of kefir with berries before bed. I am 55 and feel better than I ever did in my 20's and 30's.

I had a coach telling me "stop fasting and eat your damn carbs!" because my blood work and 24 hour urine came back flagged "high". Sp I followed her advice and ended up gaining weight! And still not sleeping and having all kinds of menopause symptoms! And haven't had a day in months without pain!
So, 3 days ago I decided that wasn't working and I'm now doing low carb/keto and IF.
So glad I came across this! 🙏💗

      Intermittent Fasting along
      with taking magnesium &
      other relaxing minerals &
      herbal teas can help you
      sleep better. Also having
      some kind of white noise
      like ocean waves, gentle
rain, crickets or even a fan
      can help you sleep too.
      Also STOP caffeine by 2pm
& SHUT DOWN your ELECTRONICS 30 minutes to 1 hour before bed.

I’m allergic to egg white so when I go to the Whole Foods salad bar I’m so happy to see a bunch of removed yolks from halved boiled eggs leftover in the bin bc so many people are only eating the white part for some reason. It’s such a convenient win win bc I’m not wasting the white and it’s already cooked for me and cut in half so I can choose the dark orange colored yolks over the pale yellow ones. I’m doubtful they’re pasture raised but at least I’m not contributing to food waste by throwing out the whites.

@@petyabor5223 I don’t use too much. I don’t know the measurement, it’s like half a cup at the end of a meal. I do OMAD and honestly this amount feels like too much.
You won’t be doing much of any kind of food or drink when you’re fasting which is the only way anyone will get the most out of nutrient dense foods.
Once you eat them, it’s the body’s turn to process them.
Kefir is just a component that completes the process.

WOW!!! This video blew me away. I was diagnosed a few years ago with Gastro paresis and I was told by my doctor to help it. I needed to avoid pretty much every thing that you said is the best food on this list especially leafy green vegetables additionally, I was advised to eat smaller meals during the day Yet you put a lightbulb on when you shared Gastro is basically an issue with high blood sugar. I had a feeling my blood sugar was off yet. I couldn’t pinpoint it and my doctors always said I was fine in that arena since I retired, I have been working on lowering my anxiety and depression Through finding what makes me happy. I’ve always loved salad and found it would make me feel better so I started eating more and then doing that. I notice it made me feel better. 3:40 AM and I’m watching this video and I’m amazed at what you’re telling meand how I can heal myself. Thank you for enlightening me on how to fully heal my gastroparesis. As someone who loves bread, I will be donating my order to a local charity versus consuming it on a positive note. The bread doesn’t have any sugar in is made with all organic ingredients yet based on what you shared, Dr. Eric ❤️❤️❤️☀️☀️☀️ that is not in my best interest moving forward. Thank you for helping me and others heal ourselves and be and become better.

I try to do what I can to improve my stress, and thought I was doing fairly well, but my HRV seems to confirm I'm not where I want to be. Guess I'll get my cortisol tested and eat more of these foods. I'll have to consider behavioral adjustments too, I guess, and look into how I can change my exercise.

Strengthening the parasympathic system and its ruler, the vagus nerve, can also be achieved through breathing techniques, singing, meditation, mindfulness, using weight blankets and even hugging (oxytocin as a counteracting hormone to cortisol).
