Drive was made before rush hour, Mark had already made "Only The Strong " which made him a legit action star but was mainly used in co-star roles which only had few scenes, truly an underrated action star he did make few movies which utilities his martial arts but it did not get the recognition he deserves.
The fight scenes of this movie is as far as I have seen is his BEST!!! We can clearly see how gracefully and fast he moves. Compared to other fight scene which he look like a weak Asian fighter and action star. I can say that he has really given much and better here and if he was given the chance to make movies with better choreography he would have been more renowned action star. By the way he has a Filipino blood.
Yeah it's a shame he didn't have more movies like this -- he really needed to get with a good Hong Kong action-choreographer, he should have been as big as Donnie Yen or Jet Li, but he was cast in some pretty horrible films, and worse yet, given really bad choreography. His skills still shined through, but nowhere near as good to showcase just how talented he was.
So is this the original, or the crappy cut with all the music changed and scenes removed? I heard the final battle is different depending which you watch.
To think that at 1 point in recent history, watching movies at this resolution was the norm. 😄. We've come a long way. This could probably do with an AI upscale.
