    I also love the fact that it has external lifting arms and therefore you do not have to worry about any cables breaking I'm having to replace them

    I love these vintage campers like this and that is a really neat color! I just ran across one of these in an ad for sale for a really good price and the model that I am hoping to get and wanting to get if no one beats me to it is a Chuckwagon 7 that has the slide-out kitchen on the side they're probably aren't too many of these left so I'm really hoping I can land this deal and I'm really excited about getting it and going camping with it

    Here is a great idea that you can use for a wet bath and shower in there and not have to spend a fortune doing it this is what I plan on doing with mine they have these on Amazon portable inflatable and self-rising bathtubs that are foldable and you can get these that are about waist-high and you just push them down to step inside them and they have drains so you can set one of those up in one end of the pop-up easily and then get a camp Lux L5 tankless water heater or you could get an electric one but I got one of those last year and I loved it and it works great it's instant hot water anytime anywhere and I only paid $147 for the tankless water heater the portable bathtubs only run around 30 to $70 so there is a cheap shower you can either use hooks on the ceiling or if you don't want to make holes you can use PVC pipe that you can stick together and make a self holding frame self-standing that you can put a shower curtain on much cheaper cassette toilets and shower combos

    I've seen one You Tube video where they replaced the whole canvas part. I think that was You Tuber "Yak Motley". I sawanother, I think it was a school bus or van, but they built a "Murphy Shower" ! He hand-made the shower pan out of Birch p.ywood, then sealed it with several coats of marine grade polyurethane. There was a shower curtain- I guess it was a "U-shaped"rod that would fold down to store. The bottom of the shower curtain somehow had a way to keep it inside the shower pan (note- Have you ever seen those curtains that divide rooms in the hospital. They have little beads, .like a beaded lamp pull, and the beads attach the curtain to a little trackway on the ceiling- That would be how I'd do the top.) The cassette toilet was in a cabinet or bench. AND, of course they made it so that you could pass thru the shower sprayer to outside. I'd love to see your take on thqt!

    We camp in a 1969 Wheel Camper! My parents took excellent care of it, and passed it along to me when they got too old for camping. Such a treat to stumble on this beauty of yours. Ours is a slightly smaller model, I think.

    Thanks for sharing! We just got a 73 sportscraft and it needs work as well, I’ll be following for inspiration!

      Oh how neat! It’s so hard to find anything on vintage pop-ups. I’m following you for inspiration, as well! Can’t wait to see how yours comes along! ☺️

    I see this is an old video so hopefully you'll see my comment. I have found a 1969 Lark Mai-Kai and the lift system is just like yours with the elbow like arms on the outside. Do you have a video of step by step how to lift it? I found a brochure for a '68 that said as you pull on the beds the roof lifts. I could really use some help as I'm coming up empty.

      Hi, we don’t have a video on how to lift it, but we’ll be sure to post one that includes that. We’re currently working on it again, so that should be easy enough to include in our next camper video. I’ll try to remember to let you know when we have it up.

      @@BandVE perfect! Thank you! I've been asking all over and the arms on yours are just so very similar. Again, the brochure I found said as you pull the beds out the roof raises. Considering manufacturing at the time, it's possible they all used the same lift in the same years, even if they're different companies. I hope so! Mine has been altered so I'm hoping to find some that has one.

      @@tlneill Our system does not open by pulling the beds out. It takes two people, and we have to lift the rear first and then the front. The spring-loaded arms assist in lifting it. It's not extremely difficult, but it does take two people. Our beds are on a hinge and flip out of the side.

    I hope you will consider a restoration instead of a modern, cookie cutter type of remodel, painting everything white. It’s in pretty amazing shape for its age and it would be a shame to “modernize” it to look like all of the rest after surviving all of these years. For the cushions you could buy a foam type mattress and cut it to fit with an electric turkey carving knife.

    • @BandVE
      @BandVE  Год назад

      I hope it won’t look too cookie cutter. Looks are definitely deceiving here, as it wasn’t in great shape. We had to replace a lot of rot. Our ultimate hope is to make it fit our needs, as we hope to use it often. 😊

    How do you change the tire with the siding covering half of the wheel. I just bought a 1968 Palomino and cant even figure out how to break the bolts and take off the tire with the siding in the way

    Hi Do you know anything about replacing the springs in the fold up arms? What type of spring are they? Is it hard to do?

    • @BandVE
      @BandVE  Год назад

      We haven’t had to replace ours. They’re still working well. They are a thicker steel spring than a garage door opener.
