  • Diabetics are at greater risk to suffer from blindness, amputations, kidney failure, neuropathy, and cardiovascular disease such as myocardial infarction and strokes. Underlying all of these complications is the damage that blood glucose and high levels of insulin cause to small blood vessels (microvascular) and large blood vessels (macrovascular). Acutely, diabetics can suffer from diabetic ketoacidosis, also discussed in this video.

I really enjoy your A&P drawings and explanations. However, I do have a couple of observations regarding this Diabetes one:
First, you should include HHNS as a not uncommon acute complication, as it is more common than DKA, esp in Type 2 diabetes and has important differences.
Second, the treatment for DKA is NOT a simple insulin supplement. Far more important are fluids and electrolytes. Immediate insulin is not always part of the treatment plan.
    Thank you very much!
