If you have ever read about the US history, its most likely someone taught you that the first settlers were British Pilgrims that came to American territory on the Mayflower and landed on Plymouth Rock, near Boston.
Well, in this video you will see how your history teachers lied to you: the actual first colony in American Territory is THIS lovely city in Florida called St. Augustine! Its home to so many of America's oldest things: the oldest street, oldest house, the first ever hotel with electricity and running water, as well as Magnolia Avenue, the most beautiful street in the USA!
St Augustine Florida is definitely a HIDDEN GEM, everyone should visit!

This is my hometown. When I was a child St. George Street was "town" where everyday shopping was done. It was dress shops, pharmacies, grocsry stores, furniture stores etc. It was also a street that could be driven on as well as drive through the city gate. My dad lived on St. George St. when he was a boy andhisdadhad a tropical fish stor and an antique shop there. It is indeed the oldest continuouslyoccupied city in the United States, not the oldest city.

@@kwyjibo33 I have heard many people say it’s the oldest city in the US, including the history books when I was in school, and a lot of people in St. Augustine. Pensacola was founded 7 years earlier.

Our favorite place to visit a couple times a year for about 25 years. But our last several visits there we have been put off by all the bums/street people camping out along the Main Street, St. George street, or down by the bridge of Lions etc.

I stayed in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Jacksonville & here Summer ‘22. Every intersection, underpass, parking lot, you name it was full of homeless & panhandlers. I’ve never seen anything like it in FL 🤔

St. Augustine is like a mix of South Carolina with New Orleans together. You couldn't tell the difference in pictures. Until you say the location. 😅

Pensacola Florida was founded 7 years before St. Augustine. However it was temporarily abandoned so St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited city in America. Also, IMDB shows all the locations for Forrest Gump and St. Augustine is not listed.

Next time that you're in town, stop by to visit the Spanish Military Hospital Museum in Aviles Street (formerly Hospital Street, the oldest street in the U.S.). That section of town is the oldest and most picturesque. PS- You also need to stop by the Columbia Restaurant- nobody stops by the city without having the best Cuban fare in Florida!

Plus if you do the late night paranormal investigation tour at the old jailhouse I highly recommend it as well. Tell the works at the old jailhouse AR Paranormal sent you. They will love it.

My family was one of the first families to come to Saint Augustine in 1565. What’s the best thing to see there to find something of them I’m wanting to go maybe during the summer when I’m off work and the kids are out of school

I think the first thing you should do is take the trolley tour and see for yourself all the stops and interesting sites, that way you pick and choose where to get off and explore

St. Augustine wasn't the 1st American Settlement.
America had became a Settlement after many European wars who fought for the land.
St. Augustine was the 1st European Spainard settlement.
    So don't get it twisted!
