I used to be so ashamed of being Inuit. I was adopted at birth, but Thankfully my adoptive family encouraged me to embrace my heritage throughout my life.
It took me a long time to finally, truly, fully embrace that part of me but your music has helped me love myself fully

" Get over it " I've actually heard that from a doctor at one of the Appletree clinics..... the next time someone says that too you, ask them " ok how do you get over the fact you people went after our children... not just once, but twice.... once with the " Residential schools " and then again with the 60's Great scoop and everything in between " ??? How do you as a person justify going after children from age 5 and up ??? I gotta tell ya, it makes my blood boil...... going after the most venerable of us ???? Didnt have the balls to take on the adults ???? Cause you knew we'd kick your ass..... then the genetic targeting of the blood lines of our Great leaders....the sterilization of our women without permission, with the help of the RCMP ????
So exactly how do you get over that ???? Targeting children ??? is that not a crime against humanity ??? 50 short years ago in this country ????? I know, I am one of those from the 60's scoop..... raised white but native in heart and soul.... I remember the stories from my Grandmother about how they where " stealing our children ".....
Personally, my thinking is more like " start paying rent of get off my land motherfucker "....... I'm a half breed.... but after watching these video's and others..... I finally understand why I am so different than those I've been around all my life....why words like " honor, respect, truth, " actually mean something to me.... why who and what I am is more important than money....
I've learned more about being native from your video's than I ever did at Wabano Center in Ottawa...got no help from them....
Dont let the name fool you, I was adopted, twice, Ojibwa and proud of it...

    • @trulylivingthetrueliv

Hello brother ! I am choctaw raised white and white skin but native heart souls spirit and the blood that runs through my veins Always glad to see more that have been stripped of their heritage standing up

    • @trulylivingthetrueliv
      @trulylivingthetrueliv 5 лет назад +15

Johnny Averheart ah yes blame the people that are the after effect of the genocide? I may look white I may have had my culture stripped from me before I was born being my great great grandfather was placed in the boarding schools not allowed to see his native family I am not a “5$ Indian” I have tested up while talking about the loss of a culture I haven’t gotten to know in this life we are down the line of a Chief Big Knife and that’s all we know before the government forced a white name on our family we were “haksinchit abi” my skin matters not for it’s the ancestors blood in mine. And as I am the only one in my family that continues trying to revitalize tradition through the gentrification...it’s really sad, the whole reason they have done this to our people is to divide us. Because a divided nation cannot stand for itself against a bigger bully
You think I have not lived lives in darker skin ? Been adopted out into a white family and murdered as a child between 50s and 60s is one I have recalled raped and murdered by those that raised me for not conforming though torn from my family, hatred in your heart blocks out those that are truly Brothers and sisters from the creator.. I know the pain from both sides. You think I want white skin ? You think I chose ? No creator does that who are you to fault the creator on what soul he places in what body ? He has a purpose for all..

    • @trulylivingthetrueliv
      @trulylivingthetrueliv 5 лет назад +8

Johnny Averheart Because Native identity isn’t just a racialized identity. Native identity is political. We are citizens of tribal nations. So we can’t just talk about our identities purely in racial terminology. Thinking about our identity as purely race-based is another tool to wipe us out. Cause you can “breed out” this notion of “blood” but you can’t “breed out” citizenship. There’s also a deep power issue here-who has the “right”

    • @trulylivingthetrueliv
      @trulylivingthetrueliv 5 лет назад +8

Johnny Averheart oh and the. Trail of tears my ancestors walked on for me to be born and continue our bloodline ? Because I came out white to you that’s all for nothing ?? Keep the attitude than you are closer to “paleface “ ideas and ways of thinking skin color doesn’t make anything because it’s the character of heart and way you choose to treat others I take care of elders for a living it’s a selfless job taking care of those that can no longer care for themselves you know nothing about me and judge me your sister by my skin ?? How colonial of you🤔
I stand with my ancestors and with our Mother Earth ✊🏼 that should be enough as I’m actually going to act during these crossroads what are you doing ? Trying to judge for the creator?? Because I got a line for you straight from SNRK “Only creator can judge me! And the rest can f*ck themselves “

    • @trulylivingthetrueliv
      @trulylivingthetrueliv 5 лет назад +7

Johnny Averheart But instead of feeling ashamed, I’m trying now to turn the tables and think that I, instead, am the colonizer’s worst nightmare. Because history has tried to eradicate my people by violence and force, enacted every assimilating and acculturating policy against my ancestors, let me grow up in white rural country, and erased all the visual vestiges of heritage from my face-but still chahta My ancestors gave their “x-marks”-assents to the new-so that I could be here, fighting back against misrepresentations, through a keyboard and the internet.

like if you do this you get rewarded and if you do that spanky Nono b!
this may have worked long ago like long long ago but in the 21st century psychologically we are a bit more sophisticated for his unnecessary treatment..whoever tink they know betta then you for me is an open challenge to be rectified by test of the real kind no assumptions..
okay u a foot doctor sir! why your telling my moms that she should put piece of whatever’s between her shoe and foot to give height to one side to match other having one short limb?
you realize the shortness not due to bone discrepancies but the hip misaligned!?
why are you not going from above and bellow and making needed correction then meet st center line the hip complex and make final correction bringing true alignment which is impossible through cracking of back since you end up there for next two to three years yet whole time it’s tissue related pulling and those restriction from above snd bellow if found
exert 2,000 lbs of pressure within a square inch btw ..

To me it speaks to me on more than one level like my soul is downloading information from my family by sound in spirit to remind myself of something lots of things and it really portrays through your music that you speak to your people and you know fully in a heavenly Faith way that your message only gets to those who are meant to hear it who are truly your family it feels to me like in what we would perceive as the future we were sent back here to hold those information in our own blood to make sure that all of unity and all of the universe was one to prevent the end tethering and unsewing the God's own story I feel that when you saying reminding ourselves not to lose ourselves in the dream that is to teach us the dance of life but to know that we're here in specific purposes and we are always where we were meant to be but we can't forget our true nature is to go back to the all and to make sure that it always will be thank you for yourself my name is Ashley Pearson but I renamed myself Arielle my dad is Thomas jay Pearson Gordon Wade McElroy helped guide me I remember the library of life it's literally the center the all God and your song helps conect me to that

I'm not Native, in fact, I feel more disconnected from my past the more time continues. But I am LOVING the music coming from our Northern Neighbors. Going to a Tribe Called Red concert next Saturday, really looking forward to that, and I really hope I get a chance to see these guys too later down the line. Lots of love over here in So Cal for all of you!

No I will not cut my hair it is a symbol of Pride it signifies how we survived 500 years of genocide. So I stand up Brave with my fist to the sky with a chest full of rage and a heart full of pride. We are still alive. It is the truth. I am the proof. Our blood flows through my daughter. Our fathers walked a trail of tears to protect us from the slaughter. So we dance to forgotten songs that are sung with forgotten tongues. In an attempt to stay connected to the very land that we are from. This fight is far from done. I am repping from the block. And I dont plan to fade away. I'm planted on Standing Rock.

Profit Omega our hair is also used to feel movement around us that we can not see. Warriors hair was used in battle like how a cat uses it whiskers or a snake finds prey with it’s tongue. If you touch the very end of a hair strand you immediately feel it at the scalp.

I have family in North Carolina and in Oklahoma. It breaks my heart when I hear my dad tell me the stories about my great grandmother and how she was forced to change her name and not allowed to speak her native language (Cherokee). My father loved his grandmother but she would even let my daddy play with her hair... he didn’t understand until he got older why she was so cold

If u dont know by now I doubt you'll ever know
Ima woman ima warrior now listen to my flow
My people we are dying and we ain't dying slow
We ain't counting how many we lost cuz we could get lost
If we give up now it's our youth who pay the cost
Everyone wana be a boss- but it's a loss
Unity is what we need to succeed
    Dont get caught slippin
Raise your fist continue the fight
Promise yourself to never lose sight
    Of what's really at risk
Poison in our water everyime we take a sip
In our own community our leaders taking bribes
We all stuck outside just tying to get inside
    We wana know the truth
    Dont feed us no lies
Time to wake up- wake up -best be wise
I cant take it no more
See what life got in store for me
I cry everytime I wonder whats coming next?
Seen so many people die is this a hex?
Coming at us crazy better come correct
Cuz we we are Warriors better recognize
Look into my eyes tell me I ain't shit and I'll tell u who I am
Warm Cloud and I Yes I give a Dam!
O'odham Pippaash Pomo Tlingit and Aleut
The mixology of my blood it ain't a fluke
I was meant to be here in this society we ain't much different me and you
What we learned as Rez kids to always keep it true
I ask u believe in me as I believe in you
    Things gotta get better
    I tell myself each day
No more tears as I stand and pray
Today is a blessing and a new day
Dont fight the feeling just drift away
    Into a paradigm of positivity
    I speak drastically -yet lyrically
Just a piece of me spilled so poetically
Pray for me and my family and I'll pray for yours...
This cant be the end your my people and I am yours more like family than friend...
And im begging Creator don't let this be the end!
One Love One Creator One Life One People! Let's keep the Unity going hard
    Much Love from AZ!

Falling apart in small pieces only to recreate
      Walking on clouds following fate
Just a piece of me remains
      the new me arrives suddenly
      Not because its 2020
      But because it's that time
No more sitting back wasting time
Time dont stand still shes all around us drifting
      Meanwhile my brain is shifting
I had many dreams that showed me such destruction
This is our reality and its only getting worse
Right now I sit and pray as others have a drink
How many will die tonight I hate that I have the capability to think
But ive always been a worrier
      My heart trembles along
Trying to follow along but I dont belong
I walk alone so many times wishing to rewind
I think of all those who we lost before their time
      Just young
I outlived my oldest brother by 10 years
Hes not here physically but I still communicate my fears
And with tears I wish u and i will one day reunite
But right now im here putting up a fight
U taught me strength u taught me to never stand down
      I wish I heard u sooner
Struggles I went thru when all i needed to do was walk away
To you and Creator I pray my children see another day
Dreams haunt me of the end of times
All I ask is for a little more time
Much Love hope u all to be safe tonight

      Time after time again
      Trying to find a friend
All along she was with me deep inside
Why try to hide- Who we are
      That voice in our head
She will tell me I’m better off dead
      Or so it’s said.
But then again there’s another side
When I look into my eyes
I see who she is and man she’s tried
      Tried to come through
Tried be herself but no one knew
      Who she really was
Scarred on the outside and the inside
      Many times she has lied
      Saying she is fine
When chaos is really on her mind
She fought with fire at age 5
      When the first person died
Momma said Grampa was asleep that night
As he laid inside his coffin
But that wasn’t the last man, there was many more
      So many lost track
      Wasn’t tryin’ to keep score
      But the numbers they grow
Piece by piece my family tree was broken
Lookin’ for brighter days she keeps on hopin’
      Daily SMokin’
All these words she’s never spoken
Just been put on paper or tucked away
No one wanted to hear what she had to say
Some of the family in times of need - they walk away
For all of you- I truly pray
I cried tears for you -So many, if u only knew
Your heart would turn from red to blue
And nah I don’t insinuate killin’ over colors
      That’s another story untold
Seeing my people kill each other off like its nothin’
Closer to our Extinction and nonexistence
Keep it up - our only story will be in books falsely written
That’s why I’m saying keep your kids close
Don’t teach em that nonsense GIVE THEM SOME HOPE
They all committing suicide and doin’ dope
Cuz of the love we can’t give ourselves
They suffer more than anyone else,
But here I am a torn lil girl inside
But as a Grown Woman; Man I have cried
But this isn’t the end- Our story don’t end here
I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THE END IS NEAR
