I say "buy".
You have to buy it.
It's not expensive, and if you buy a bottle, you'll spend a lifetime.
There are obvious effects that only silicone oil can produce.
No silicone oil.
Of course, acrylic pouring is also possible without silicone oil.
But there are times when you need it.
So please buy together when you buy.
If you use PVA medium, silicone oil is essential.
I use treadmill silicone oil.
The brand is Korean.
A search for silicone oil on Amazon reveals a green product for acrylic pouring.

Thank you for showing us the difference, JeJe. Some artists want perfectly shaped cells, others none at all. I like them any shape because they make the painting have more places of interest. I like both of your paintings. The one with silicone reminds me of the moon in van Gogh's "Starry, starry night ".
