Very interesting work that i was not expecting to enjoy, and did (at least somewhat) nevertheless. It is definitely fascinating to listen to, and there are a few passages that i enjoy fully, as they are not only harmonically compelling, but also structurally sound.
Amazing piece. I was rather disappointed by the later symphonies, but this one was truly an exception. Perhaps his struggles after the stroke allowed him to produce more profound material?

6 to 9 are probably his best. He opted for a more economical language, but gained in profundity
