That Runescape Sea Shanty2 soundtrack at 9:05 though, brings back epic memories. And then at 10:10 and 12:00, my respect for you has increased tenfold.
I think I figured out the P4 Ness thing. Basically, the system likely had a logic error where player 4 isn’t put on the voting menu if there is no player 3, despite the fact that this can happen in online servers (a three-for-all with players in ports 1, 2, & 4) if the player designated as player 3 by the server leaves in the lobby after a 4-person free-for-all. This would leave the fighters unsorted, as leaving at the scorecard sorts the ports so that all fighters are in the lowest port available. This is likely to have happened by the system going through an array of the 4 possible fighters and stopping once there is no fighter (in this case player 3) even if there could be a fighter in port 4. This would naturally be the logical way of doing it, based on the presumption of how the players are sorted between matches. I am by no means declaring myself an expert on the subject, nor am I claiming that this is 100% correct. I am simply presenting my theory on what happened based on present data, the experiences of others, and my own knowledge of programming - including common logical errors that can be easily overlooked. TL;DR, The servers store the player’s port in such a way that the spectate lobby can miss the player in port 4 if the 3 fighters are in ports 1, 2, & 4.
I feel like Ness was shown in the spectate choices, and Jacob and Major just decided to cut him out for a bit (seeing as they only show Link and Bowser and nothing else). However, I had no explanation for the P4 thing so this helped.
Nah, I feel like they just pretended that P4 ness wasn’t supposed to be there because when the match was over, they still edited the video to zoom in specifically on bowser and link so we couldn’t see the rest of the screen
Eragon7 the amount of matches you need to win now to get to elite is exponentially larger than at launch(iirc it’s currently 5.2 million at the very least). Compounded with the fact that the closer to elite you get, the less GSP you’ll earn(I have 4.9 million and won 3 games and was still in the 4.9 million range) and the random nature of quickplay even with preferences set, it’s really not that “easy”.(I hate team matches online, and I’m constantly thrown in them.)
@@Thesuperduperbooster its exponentially worse when you rematch someone for a best of 3 after you win. Lose a single time and lose half your gsp only to get 100k back from the 3rd match.
@@Thesuperduperbooster yea, but the average skill of the players in elite smash is about the same. It may take more wins but the skill of the players you have to beat isnt really all that much different. I still get secondaries and pockets into elite smash when I bother to even play it, and I have quite a few friends who have every character in elite smash. I will say that the poor ruleset matching thing is a bit fair as it does fuck people over, but that was actually WORSE at launch. The improved it a lot after one of the early patches, and while its still bad, its not nearly as bad as it used to be. You used to get thrown into a bunch of free for alls unless you were basically in elite smash. Once you get into elite smash its pretty much always 3 stock 1v1s and a very occasional 2 stock 1v1. But the skill of the players is what Im mainly talking about when I say its just as easy as before. Yes, you need like 5 Mil GSP to get into elite smash now, where you only needed like 2 Mil at launch, but thats because GSP grows as more people play the game. 5 Mil GSP now is roughly equal to about 2 Mil GSP when the game came out. There are just a lot more people playing the game now which is why the number is so much higher.

If this video has a message, I think that would be: "Ness hates gambling"
What if
You wanted to play a normal 1v1
But sakurai said
*Player 4 Ness*
I also had a mysterious drop-in character while betting on a 1v1. The part that made me laugh was that it was a Mii Brawler of Robert "Interfering" Speedwagon, from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It seemed only too appropriate.
That Runescape Sea Shanty2 soundtrack at 9:05 though, brings back epic memories.

Imagine playing a match and then finding out two men were betting on you winning or losing
That sounds so weird and interesting, thanks!
You know, I can totally see this being why
Nah, I feel like they just pretended that P4 ness wasn’t supposed to be there because when the match was over, they still edited the video to zoom in specifically on bowser and link so we couldn’t see the rest of the screen
Explain why ness was 4 player then, or when it showed link was in third place in a 1V1 match?
When I saw gambling in the title I expected the biggest gambler of them all

Your Not Wrong, But Your Not Right
Elite smash: *consistently harder to get into since launch*
Alpha: “tHey’Re leTtiNG aNYonE iNto eLitE SmAsH nOW”
its not really that much harder to get in now than when the game came out, Elite smash is a joke.
Yea it’s really easy to get in tbh, it’s not as elite as I hoped lol

The Ness and the Bowser probably found a glitch and then used a smurf bowser to make you place your bets on Link

Pretty sure the ness was cropped out of the screen during both the pre-selection screen and the results for a funny bit, since we never see the full screen.
