Episode 4 is one of my favorite episodes of the original anime and also the new one. The first anime had the exact same number of episodes that this new remake has been green lit for so far. So far the episodes have been pretty close to 1 to 1 with the original anime. I would expect this new remake to diverge from the original anime after the first cour however. The original anime skipped book 4 of the light novel series entirely. The opening 2 minutes of the first episode of this new anime series gives a very strong impression that they plan to adapt book 4 this time around. To be fair, back in '08 when the first anime came out the main series of light novels was not yet complete and the producers of the show at the time would have had no way to know what skipping book 4 would mean down the road. That little prologue at the start of this series tells us they very much know why book 4 becomes important later. That and the fact that the little girl talking to Holo was asking her for a story she's never heard before. Kind of like it was the sow runners speaking to the audience through her telling us we're going to do it differently this time around. Plus, if you like the show hopefully we'll get more cours after these first 2 and eventually get to tell the complete story this time. Long way of saying I would not expect this series to end at the same point the original anime ended at.
