The way I see this whole situation is artist are realizing they can make more money by not following the traditional path once they’ve reached a certain point in their career the reason why many artist have not been able to prosper financially is because of the dream that the industry sells you the industry wants an artist to believe that they benefit from being famous in a different way than they really do I think artist are realizing receiving awards don’t equate to financial gain charting doesn’t equate financial gain being on the front of magazines doesn’t equate to financial gain the real way to make money in the industry is to funnel the money strate to you or in other words the less people in your pocket the more money you make I think it’s amazing to see this happening in the industry the artist drive this thing and the labels know how to magnify and catapult it but the business model isn’t even close to beneficial for the artist labels need artist and artist need labels the least labels can do is not be so greedy
