Thank you for sharing. That was an interesting repair to an old vintage car made in Japan. Sadly they don't make them like that anymore in durability. I repair a lot of electronic devices and I have repaired a few old cassette players, Walkman and radios, which I have owned over the years and for family and friends. Most of the time the fault is obvious power issues, blown capacitors, diodes, resistance, fuses, motors blown and power supplies issues. In addition very simple issues like corrosions and connection issue due to solder fatigue. Most faults identified using multimeter and looking at circuits for voltage and simple visual checks etc. One thing I do not have is an oscilloscope. Perhaps in the future I will invest in a portable one like the Owon.
