That would be cool too to find out what happened to everyone else and the people that left you behind on the rocket that did make it .. also other missions 😆 maybe some aliens or something maybe some weapons 😅
When you add something to the base the area becomes a low pressure and when it is completed all the air and temperature is sucked towards the low pressure. The hanger only really needs one Airlock to keep the air from escaping the base to the hanger, but two if you plan on leaving the hanger door open all the time.. Some people use the CO2 scrubbers to increase pressure faster.
Your plants were fine after you reset the values the messages on the arm take a while to go away some times... Actively dieing plants show up on your HUD red letters
scanning does not give more resources from rocks but using the crusher does. There is a carry limit on rocks, best way to get more is to use jack hammer and use claw to pick the rocks up kinda like what last series was. it is good to take your time with game because I got lucky with some blueprints made some major upgrades and now I am stuck in game, i got most everything unlocked. use your main base as a learning tool for a 2nd base.

Only need one explosion per rock. I usually try to climb on rock and put explosive on top.
Withering was caused by the increased volume of air you need. Basically the air pressure was too low for them.
Tip - have an airlock between the hanger and the base otherwise it will remove the air from the base. Edit - Add tip before you mentioned the airlock.
