After going through divorce many decades ago, I noticed I had the desire to get married again. However, this video reminds me of some of the hardships of a divorce, and the financial matters associated with it. Scary and sad. 😳🥺

I don't mean to be catty, but she is a greedy plain jane and plastic surgery can only do so much. Kevin could have done much better and hopefully he'll not marry again, unless it's a successful working woman who doesn't depend on his money. If any of you have done any research on Kevin Costner, you will learn that he moved all over California with his family because of his father's job at Edison. Kevin started moving at a young age. His Mom I believe was a stay-at-home mom and she loved and supported Mr. Costner. Kevin's Dad of course was an Alpha Male like Kevin is and believes in a superior Work Ethic and providing for the family. Kevin is doing exactly what he was taught by example by his dad in the Work Department. I have an 85-year-old Dad who is still working so I understand Work Ethic. Why is it that Christine wasn't on site with Kevin and the kids? What kind of support has she been. Why be lonely in California and Lonely in Montana while filming? If she was anything like Mrs. Costner, she would have been right, there with Kevin as he is the bread winner. And she could have home schooled the kids or they could have hired someone. We all know they have the funds to do so. I think people ought to give Kevin a Break. He isn't perfect, none of us are, only in Christ we are perfect. Kevin is 68 Years Young, and he still has some projects he wants to accomplish. I support him.

@@elizabethd5264 Her position is that she was his wife and mother to their children for 18 years. In the United States that makes her part of their family unit and the matriarch of the family. Once she married KC she became his closest legal relationship and was recognized as his next of kin.
Unfortunately she signed a prenup that was 100% in his favor. Had she not signed the prenup, by law she would have been entitled to half of everything he made during the marriage. That is the way it is throughout most of the United States no matter who earns the money. That is why women or men who don’t work can claim their spouses income as assets for credit and it is why they claim social security under their spouse. We recognize that a non working spouse who raises children contributes and supports the relationship in a non-monetary way, but that support directly benefits the working spouse. I am sure she took care of things while he was away earning money. She may have had help, but if he was on location someone was making sure their kids were fed, went to school and the household was running smoothly.
The prenup may stand, but she will get additional money and more than what is outlined. She will probably have to present a case that her contributions to the marriage exceeded what was outlined in the prenup and she relied on his income to focus on the children and household for 18 years. This means she gave up all career opportunities for herself and the possibilities of her earning potential which could have been substantial based on their connections in Hollywood. I actually think this makes KC look kind of bad. No reasonable person would expect her to have to work a 9 to 5 job after 3 kids and 18 years of marriage to a man worth 250 to 400 million. I would also like to add that during those 18 years, I am sure Kevin wanted her available as he needed her which also impeded her ability to earn a living. The domino effect of that is she missed out on 18 years of potential retirement income too. Yes, the average person with average wealth might have to go back and work a 9 to 5, but their situation is far from average. Given the unique circumstances of his wealth, he will probably wind up paying more than the prenup.
She's still young and had plenty of opportunity to better herself, like getting a college education and having a profession or skill that can support her without depending on a man for her wealth. Back to the real world for her is a big adjustment, but it was her choice to devote everything to their kids, which isn't always the wisest choice in a sour marriage. Seems like she choose to whine to Kevin about not spending more time with family, but why didn't Christine choose to have the kids homeschooled and travel to locations with Kevin when filming? If she spent more time with self improvement and less time about whining, she'd feel more powerful about her future. It's all about the children now, and Kevin will make sure they don't lack for anything.
@@bradleyharting6038 A wife married to a man worth 400 million and raising 3 kids is going to focus on her family and not a career. I am sure that is the way KC wanted it too. Unless she was also successful before the marriage, she is not going to work on building a career. There is no reason for her to do that when she has children to raise, a husband on the road, and money is not an issue. She put her children first by being the parent who was there for them while KC was on the road with his band or on location filming.
She had help, but she was the parent who was physically there for them at their home and put them ahead of her career ambitions and gave them a somewhat normal life instead of globetrotting. Will she get half of his money? No, but she will get more than the prenup outlines. She will get the present value of what he was originally going to provide for a home and probably 20 to 40 million and KC will still have more money than he could ever spend. Her time was worth something and the time she put into the marriage based on his wealth will be what she gets. I am sure KC will not be able to deny that he wanted her home with the kids when he was away and he expected her to oversee their staff.
The prenup she signed would probably fly if no kids were involved and the marriage ended after a short period, but that is not the case and I don’t think we will see Christine working a 9 to 5 job ever unless she wants to. We should all be so lucky to have rich people’s problems.

Sad. In a perfect world there would be no such thing as divorce. There are realities here. He married her. When you marry a young woman, you can expect she will want children with you. She loves you and that is what women think about when they are in love. She is right to hold out for the best outcome for her children and herself. It will never be fair enough, but lawyers will make sure they get the best deal they can get.
