one minor correction,you don't become an assistant professor by cracking Net. You just become eligible to APPLY there.. And without phd, your chances are less... so net on it's own without phd is not so worth

I ended up doing maths just because I found it fun during my class 12 but it turned out to be a huge setback for me when i couldn't get a PG degree from a good college with no placement support. I am strong in both physics and mathematics and I enjoy both but still unable to decide in which subject I must do masters . Indeed I am very much interested in physics but I saw many people claiming that there is no scope in physics even after phd . So that is why I am little bit confused . I am no expert but you have to decide (select) one among them as both are quite related. I was in the same dilemma but deep down I felt my love for Maths. So choose wisely it will be your decision. P.S I hope I am not late in replying
