- Getting to Taman Negara! It's one of the oldest jungles still alive in the world today.
This is our Visual Journey and story about our trip to one of the world's oldest jungles, Taman Negara. It is located in Malaysia, only about 240 km from Kuala Lumpur.
This is truly a place full of magic!

Taman Negara, never got tired of visiting it. Been there a few times.
If anyone like nature and like to visit Malaysia, and got limited time of two weeks,
I would said it
1. Taman Negara Kuala Tahan, Pahang ( there are a few other Taman Negara's in Malaysia equally beutiful but not so convenient to reach. Taman Negara means National Park. You can also enter this Taman Negara through Taman Negara, Merapoh, Kelantan. This park is over 4300 km square.
2. Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu. One of the most beautiful Island in Malaysia, live coral and crystal clear water.
After you come back from Taman Negara, you head to Kuala Tembeling ( the jetty that you board the boat to Taman Negara). Take a train head to Kelantan, from Kelantan carter a cab to Kuala Besut, Terengganu, to take a boat to Pulau Perhentian.
Taman Negara and Pulau Perhentian are close from mid November until end if December because of Monsoon rain.
3. Cameron Highland, Pahang it actually a small town high up in Malaysia highland where tea n vegetable are cultivated. Kuala Tahan, Taman Negara you get to enjoy low land virgin forest, Gunung Irau, Cameron Highland you got to enjoy Highland cloud rainforest. Temperature here fluctuate from 15 to 25 Celsius.
If you have more time there are a lot of natural place in Malaysia, just search Malaysia Tourist places.

Sorry for the late reply. For us it cost about 50RM (10€)/per person to get to Taman Negara from KL.

You need to spend time there at least 3 days to have a worth journey. Traveling there might take you one day.

many 'pokok tualang' there. there are many black honeybee nests on top of canopy. you need to climb by making up staging. the height of pokok tualang usually similar to 6-7 stories building. some deep forests, the height can go up to 12 stories building

Morning Heidi you need to book the package that include the guide. My friend know the taman negara’s guide so they handle everything and we just paid 😅 you can search for danz resort they have a cave stay package

Canopy walk is open currently, but 283m only. Me and family just went there last week....few visitors as most of the states in peninsular Malaysia were under MCO (Movement Control Order) due to pandemic COVID19, so only visitors from the state of Pahang were allowed in.

Canopy walks are not only closed there but also in most jungle parks in Malaysia. They are mostly due maintenance or workmanship...corrosion and deterioration due humidity, some vandalism and bad up keeping....Better stay on ground trails as nature intends.

My first visit was 1977, was 15yrs old.Firsr to jerantut-kuala tembeling-3hrs by boat to kuala tahan.My expedition was climbed Gunung Tahan, 9 days ( 5 days up-4 days down), I promised to come back to Taman Negara, now 2022, I'm 61 yrs old, never returned back and dont know whats happening there, loads of development maybe, but 1977, just a simple taman negara , with orang asli natural settlement, some still live in bushes....our guide stay in bush made house......
It probably still is beautiful on the conservation side, but the outside of that it's completely destroyed by plantations. The village is still pretty down to earth with no massive developments.

What is the travel cost from KL to Taman Negara? Did you encounter any mosquitos? Great video.
Thanks.Not many mosquitoes at all and the cost all the way was around 50USD if you take the boat. It's a bit cheaper with the bus.
The most oldest forest in malaysia is situated in borneo sarawak mulu national park.

Those are not the oldest jungle !! The oldest jungle is in endau/rompin park which when i was young witnessed one single lorry can only carry 1/4 of a tree trunk . Old jungles in malaysia doesn't have small plants .only big trees with much space in between one tree to another. No mosquitos at all . On the other hand,you can go to gunung ledang to see older trees .not as old as the ones in endau rompin park but reasonably big and tall.

daintree rainforest is the worlds oldest rainforest/jungle my dude
depends on who you ask. I think this is a question that is really hard to know for a fact. At least this one in Malaysia is one of the oldest.

Actually the Daintree Rainforest in Australia is the oldest in the world. Claims vary depending on source but species have been identified there dating to 180 million years.

Too late if you want to visit in 2020. It's now a massive oil palm plantation and all those pesky elephants and tigers have been shot.

@@Glajdar Not strictly but look at Malaysia using Google Earth and you'll be horrified how much is oil palm, easily identified because the palms are planted in neat rows. As for the tigers, yes there are a few but they're now very rare. I was lucky enough to see one just once as it came out of the forest into a newly planted oil palm estate before disappearing back. I've seen evidence of elephants but never seen one in the wild. The best place to see both in Malaysia is in museums where they've been stuffed after being shot years ago.

@@Glajdar Taman Negara is only a small part of Malaysia. Look at Johor just outside of it and then using Google Earth look the rest of the state and see how much is already covered by oil palm or has been cleared ready for planting. Try it, you'll be shocked.
