Hi everyone, let me share in detail the information I have just shared in the vlog. First, take note of the term ESID or Every Situation Is Different. Definitely, other ALTs have different experiences when it comes to managing their finances. When I was in my first year in the program, I was still more conservative with my spending. It was the time when I was still learning the way of life here in Japan. I was cautious and strict with my budget hehe. Also, I was still paying some loans back then. As you know, every year the JET salary increases, as well as the expenses. haha. Thankfully, Filipinos are exempted from paying taxes in the first two years. But as you've seen in the video, I am now paying 44k yen quarterly (residence tax). In addition, income tax was also included in the deductions starting 3rd year. They removed the car fuel reimbursement when I was in my third year. I didn't fully understand why hehe. Other ALTs receive commuting allowance and car fuel allowance. Unfortunately, mine was discontinued. Apato - no changes Car - owning a car is still better than renting one and can let you save more in the long run *Shakken or compulsory check - every two years *Car insurance, car tax - yearly Car fuel - price of gas has really increased huhu Electricity - I started using the AC during the summer (2nd yr-present) Also, I found that the heating function of the AC is better than using the kerosene heater. I have an electric heater, too. Electricity in winter really goes up. *Of course, back in 2018, I was doing my best to save money so I was really taking control of the use of the heating equipment. Gas (Cooking/hot water), and water in general - all prices increased as well Sim card - found a cheaper sim card (GTN Mobile) also this company is in partnership with EPOS Credit Card so I was able to get a Japanese CC easily. Pocket Wifi - got unlimited from a Vietnamese FB page hehe but it's legit. Take note, there are other cheaper unli pocket wifi providers but since I've been using this one for a long time, I'm saving myself from the hassle of applying for a new one. Grocery - well, prices have increased, and also eating healthy is way more expensive hahaha (protein shakes, whey powder, yogurt, etc) Amazon Prime - is a must here in Japan lol As you've seen in the vlog, my total expenses increased, around 20kyen, but the good thing is that the savings also increased. If not for the residence tax, I would have bigger savings. Take note that other ALTs might be spending less or more, so managing finances really depends on the financial goals of the ALT. Thank you, everyone! I hope this vlog is helpful for you all. Live Life To The Macs!
Good day teacher Mac’s, currently I’m taking my masters degree, I indicated on my sop, pero hindi ko na nilagay na presently studying my masters degree sa application form , Doon sa educational background, pero I submitted my COR sa masters ko.
Hi, application will open very soon so make sure to always check the embassy's fb page. Still unsure of this year's procedure. Let's wait for the announcement regarding overseas application. 🙂
jetprogramme.org/en/faq02/ Double check. It’s the same. In the vid it says, 3.36m or 3,360,00 as stated in the JET website. If you are Filipino, same salary is stated in the application guidelines.
