Thats Hannes Van Dahl the long hair blonde in the beginning. And Floor Jansen's husband. Listen through the outro and see if you recognize a voice.

Absolutely, a history lesson done in metal. The video was made by people that actually make movies. When everything shut down, moviemaking also stopped, so they had time for this. The piano at the beginning IS a variation of Carol of the Bells. Joakim has said this song is actually a waltz. Lead single from the 10th and most recent, album , The War to End All Wars .
Drummer Hannes van Dahl is the first soldier out of the trenches. Guitarist Chris Rorland is the first soldier out on the other side. (Now former) guitarist Tommy Johansson had the battlefield guitar solo. Bassist Par Sundstrom is at the cross at the end.
Next?? Try the animated story video for either "Night Witches" or "No Bullets Fly"

Sabaton has a way to feel proud. Proud of your own country, but also when you listen to them singing songs about other countries' history, you end up feeling proud for them too.
    I have some suggestions for you;
    Great war official video
No bullets fly, animated story Nightwitches full animated story.
    Also, too experience how they are live;
    Ghost Division live Woodstock
En livstid I krig live Gothemburg(cc on)
    Uprising live Woodstock
    Swedish pagans live Wacken

If you want an awesome live song with Sabaton you should react to en livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gohtenburg.
The album Carolus rex they had released during that time is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from a time when Sweden was a much bigger nation with ambitions of expanding.
The album was released with both a Swedish and English version, the difference being that the Swedish one tells the story from our/a Swedish soldier's view while the English is more from an outsider's view.
It is the Swedish version they played at that show so be sure you have the subtitles on, I was at that show and all I can say is that you will not regret it.

”We were soldiers, carried the war on our shoulders” might be the hardest line sabaton has ever dropped

Excellent reaction and interpretation. Floor Jansen is the wife of the drummer of Sabaton (the guy who got the grenade impact at the beginning) and she did the vocals during the credits. The joke goes- we need a soprano to do the closing credits. Hannes (the drummer) says- I just happen to have one at home!
I totally agree with you about erasing history that people don’t like- it only dooms them
    to repeat it!!!

Christmas Truce was the song I discovered Sabaton with, and I was loving it from the first seconds. They are my favorite band since then. And their songs are indeed like a history lesson with metal.
    As next reaction I suggest
No bullets fly - animated video
    Night Witches - animated video
Lady of the dark - animated video
    Or for a live performance
En livstid I krig- live from Gothenburg
    Greetings from Germany

Sabaton is great singing about history! In the past singers - bards were just doing it - singing about the battles, wars, heroes... and they do it today :-)

@GP42 Reacts: In my perusal of reactions to Christmas Truce, Sabaton is a band that makes history come alive. They have a way of making people actually think about the events, as here, of the Christmas Truce of World War I.
In one reaction, I found out that it took over a decade for this song to have a video made, because Joakim and the band wanted to give the men who were present at this event the honor they were due. One way they did this was to use the words of a soldier who was there in the lyrics.
When asked about his experience in the war, this World War I veteran began his account by saying, "The silence...oh, how I remember the silence, on a cold winter day. After many months on the battlefield...and we were used to the violence. Then all the cannons went silent, and the snow fell. Voices sang to me from no man's land..." Joakim said that his account was so powerful, that they found it just, and fitting, to use the description of his account in the lyrics.
    However, that's not all.
One commenter, on another reaction, said that had it not been for the events of the Christmas Truce, he wouldn't exist. Why? Because his grandfathers met each other on the field that day, and after the war, they became good friends. So much so that the two families ended up marrying into each other.
But you are 1000% correct: People don't learn history anymore. And because we don't, we forget the lessons of history that are given to us by past conflicts and events. But should we choose to look into the past, and should we choose to learn those lessons, we become better people for it.
For there is no truer a saying than that which was carved on the cross that was erected that day: "Lest We Forget." Because it is inevitable that sooner or later, the men who fought the wars of the past will pass away, and their battles and wars will be relegated to the pages of history books. In my lifetime, I've seen the passing of:
    - The last World War I veteran
    - The last Night Witch (2017)
    - The last survivor of the Bismarck
    - The last survivor of USS Arizona, who was buried at the monument
And in the next ten to fifteen years, we will lose the final World War II veteran, and the last Holocaust survivor. We will lose those voices of history that have so much to tell us...if we would but listen.

Amen! So true, and so sad... And as a Metalhead i am somewhat proud of Sabaton to try and tell these stories for generations to come.

Great reaction as per usual dude! :) Gotta say though, the whole "gentlemen warfare" thing doesn't really apply to most of WW 1 imho. It does to some extend to higher ranking officers and the newly founded aerial combat forces. But for the common infantry, it was a living hell. WW 1 introduced gas attacks, mass artillery fire on enemy trenches and the overall mass eradication of enemy forces in any way possible. Compared to today, it was very much straight forward though. Please don't take this as me being a troll on your video, I just thought some insight might be welcome. Have an amazing day, best wishes from Germany.
