Delta IV Heavy NROL-82 Mission Profile

A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta IV Heavy rocket will launch the NROL-82 mission for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). Liftoff will occur from Space Launch Complex-6 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

Why is the fairing attached for so long, they keep it even until second stage start when it’s almost at orbital velocity
Why not shed the weight of it around booster sep when it’s out of the atmosphere
