Also people need to learn when to use the term "robbery", super close fights like this aren't robberies when the fighter you cheer for loses. A robbery is when someone was clearly winning and then inexplicably is not given the decision. If DDP had lost it would not have been a robbery, it is not a robbery that Strickland lost. Calling something a robbery that isn't dilutes the term and renders it (and/or) your opinion meaningless.

This is exactly how I scored it. This fight really comes down to how you scored round 2. I scored it for Sean, I thought he was still peppering that jab and coming forward with that 'teacup' kick, or whatever it's called. But several of the scorecards they showed during the fight had du Plessis winning the 2nd, and of course, all three judges scored the 2nd round for du Plessis, so there's that.
DDP controlled the fight, was more dynamic, hit Sean with more hard shots and had 6 takedowns. Not that close. Sean only jabbed and had a couple hard right hands
This was a robbery. Dricus should have won by unanimous decision, not split. Strickland should sign up for a jab-only competition, or have his trainers remind him that this is MMA.

I want a rematch.
Shut up
We really gotta quit these stupid champ rematches. Move the division on. Sean will probably be right back. He’s too good not to be.
@uriel7940 if it wasn't so close it could have gone either way, I could see your point, but context matters.
Anthony Smith speaking facts
Sean won the first and the last. He lost his head 2,3,4 same as the Cannanoier fight.
What about the 2nd round where he shut Dricus' eye shut at the end? I'm curious as to why you give Dricus the 2nd
Sean had 2 the most obvious of all
A close fight should always go to the champion like it always has.... robbery, re play it.
Close fight, one guy hits harder other one pokes with jabs, who wins?
@@arkhamknight5891 You show your strength of character when you like your own comment. Strickland wouldn't want you as a fan.
@@arkhamknight5891 MMA wouldn't want you as a fan.
@lol why wouldn’t you like your own comment? If you don’t back yourself why should others? You couldn’t respond to the other guys argument so you deflected soft! 😂😂😂
@ghey name philip...sean hates your type
Needs overturned
Well it won't be 😂
@@desotohybrid2175 then Dana gunna catch a fade or multiple cause the world is on fire rn bc that robbery
@@Zootedzahthe world is not on fire come on...
Strickland won that fight and should get a rematch. Poor judges
Strickland took the risk of waiting it out behind his defense and jab, probably under the mandate of his coaching staff. He did well absorbing and evading the big shots over the first 3, but latter parts of 4, and clearly start of 5, he was behind and DDP wasn't as drained as they anticipated. They should have adapted their strategy in round 4 as that proved crucial.
Anthony smith should stick to what he knows.. on paper sean won that fight
Knowing Anthony chose strickland is proof ddp won. Anthony can't even get his fights right.
Really? that’s your argument?
Thats a horrible argument
Yeah when Sal D'Amato amd Anthony Smith agree that somebody won, you know the other guy won.
Strickland in locker room having flash backs as we speak 😂😂 He needs to work on finishing his opps all the kill a man talk and always in a decision ending or getting slept Nice to see DDP even on a off night still take the fight
DDPs face speaks the truth. Cauliflower for dinner anyone? Off night for sure.
@@magpie471 Right even if you judge it by Damage only one was leaking blood all over the place like their drunk father beat the S$$t out of em 🤣
You don’t think he doesn’t try to work on that? Some people don’t want to hear the hard truth that being a finisher isn’t in their DNA.
So the blood makes the difference? Even DDP was embarrased by how beat up he looked. SS looked fine and was smiling. Take another look Donna.@@donnacarr9660
Strickland was robbed
Strickland shouldn't have abandoned the teep
Opens for takedown
What’s the teep? Do you mean tip?
@@ZedianBit’s the kick to the belly
He didnt have the option after ddp switched up
As the champ I had Sean winning a close decision. BUT of course we will have the WWE drama of "Africa Title" between Israel and DDP.
Sean Strickland won the fight
Sean won that fight. A close but clear winner. I agree with Anthony
You are crazy if you think its a robbery
Crotch-Sniffing won him the fight. It's riDriculous
I would agree with you, if it wasn't a championship fight.
Congratulations to DDP 🇿🇦🏆
Not a robbery but for a title fight it comes close to a robbery. Not as bad as Jones vs Reyes but kinda like Jones vs Gustaffson
19:58 wt...look at his mangled face that's not the face of a Winner. LOL
He was completely shocked when they gave it to cauliflower face.
The amount of comments about forward pressure, had him backing up. That can't get the W alone, that jab couldn't missnot many shots landed clean
Strickland won that fight
ddp was not like a robot, he was sloppy as heck
Sean convincingly won rounds 1&5.
Dricus convincingly won round 4.
2 & 3 were a tossup.
Damage wins fights, not glancing blows or pressure
Sean Strickland put a real beating on both Izzy and DDP.
He gets the respect he deserves.
*THIS MATCH WAS RIGGED!*
Commentary and Judging sucked tonight it should have been 4-1 or 3-2 Strickland
Absolute fax. Vast majority of DDP's strikes were deflected or rolled off. His takedowns did nothing. Sean turned DDP into target practice. But the establishment wanted to get rid of Sean and install DDP for the Izzy return.
3-2 whoever, but 49 - 46 is eh... strange :)
Sean won! He was clearly robbed!
Sean loser haha
Wondering why do they keep inviting Din Thomas in there?
Rounds 2 and 3 are the swing rounds.
Very evenly matched fight and kudos to Sean being so effective and dangerous with his jab, BUT the right man won. Thank you for your unbiased and HONEST feedback. Much appreciated xxx
Round 1 and 5 are Stricklands. 3, and 4 are DDP easy. 2nd round is a toss up but leaned more towards DDP. The judges made the right call
@@brob8204 true scoring this fight would be a draw. Round 2 is anyone's round.
DDP controlled the fight, was more dynamic, hit Sean with more hard shots and had 6 takedowns. Not that close. Sean only jabbed and had a couple hard right hands
Sean won
Strickland won that fight. DDP won by just throwing wild shots that rarely landed. Did not control with takedowns. Rematch NOW.
Sal D'Amota had it right! Sean won that fight in my opinion. Idk how anyone gives Dricuss the 2nd Round!
Yo! These judges are laughable tonight😂
Dean saying he dressed and talked like a champion says it all. How bout the fight that Sean clearly won :-)
I had Strickland 1,2,3,and 5...And I had over $1,000 dollars on DDP...So I won lots of money, but feel ripped off..
Lekker Suid-Afrika!! Geluk DRICUS!
Well don dricus..great fight
This was a robbery. Dricus should have won by unanimous decision, not split. Strickland should sign up for a jab-only competition, or have his trainers remind him that this is MMA.
there is no debate
DDP landed all the power shots. leg kicks and body shots. he got a TD every round and was the aggressor the whole fight. strickland literally ran all fight and jabbed he landed like 1 over hand right in the 5th lol
No he didn’t. Sean had an 80% strike accuracy, and according to the criteria, takedowns don’t mean much without doing any damage with it.
@@FirstnameLastname-do1pxTakedowns mean A LOT. Similarly to drops via strikes. This is MMA.
what fight did u watch? bro landed like 50 right hands in the 5th lmao
@@alex-ki5wm and before that he spent 4 and half rounds running and jabbing

And DDP blocked at least 40 to 50% of those jabs.
