To clarify we shot this footage in Curacao.... the female octopus who is the cause of the altercation is not in shot, she is hiding /being protected in the crack in the rock the male emerges from. The invading male is defeated by the resident male, but kept trying.... on of our other videos show another short battle
WOW, be very proud of this video. And those two could have given a shit about who was watching. I have hundreds of hours of interaction with these brilliant creatures and have never seen this.
@sameshitdifday Thanks for this, I feel we're making progress as this is the first comment you've made without an expletive, which is good news. Obviously there are variations within species (eg not all horses look the same or have the same dimensions etc), but those variations wouldn't include cows, which might look a bit similar from a distance and might also be found in the same field eating grass, but are in fact a different species. Same principle can be applied here.... its an octopus
This is a dispute between two males (the female was in a crevice in the coral outcrop). Mating is a far more delicate process, involving delivery of sperm via the males arm; this display is one of aggression (note change of colour an shape). Thanks for viewing tho....
Where was this taken? Looks like Hawai'i. This is an unusual video. I've seen Octo.s do this in California while diving, but not ones this large. Clearly not a "fight to the finish" but more of a "get the Heck off my lawn" kind of interaction. Thanks for posting this.
Where was this? What depth? Time? Looks like daytime or very full moon...maybe. Great sighting either way. I've been diving Roatan for years and not seen one...but they're there.
@iamnotwrong only octopus are shown in this video, they have an amazing ability to change shape and colour, the cone shape is aggressive, and perhaps looks a bit like a squid!
am I the only one who was waiting on the octopus to jump at the screen and attack the diver and scare the living crud out of us viewers? lol! I cringed when it jerked into that crack! when I saw the other octopus, I was relieved!
hello 12 yrs later they do. but the only one that can hurt you for real is a blue ring octopus which we have a lot up here in the PNW around seattle and the coast i would NOT fuck with those...
This is very good quality considering the age of the video
If you wouldn't of said anything I would not have known. It looks good in 2021
@@TONEakaSHOW fr in 2022 aswell 😂
@@Eezkiel
Facts I still confirm it's high quality 😁
Woh!! Its really rare to see two octopuses mating, they were not fighting.
Maybe they just had a quickie?
lol
Yup
Ah, the episode of SpongeBob where Squidward finally snaps and takes out his anger on strangers.
Hope you get over your fear... as you can see from all of our Octo vids they are interesting and intelligent creatures.... and I find them quite cute!

The pale octopus wasn't badass enough to hang out in that 'hood.
The hole of the rock must be a very attractive real estate for octopuses.
