It's sad it's come to the point where we create time capsule gamemodes to escape the modernity of the current version. The current version looks like October 2012's version of RS3. The original 2013/2014 charm will unfortunately never be recreated, but those times will live on gloriously in my memory. I watched you and Ging since 2015, so this is indeed a somber moment, but best of luck with everything in life. This game is indeed a huge waste of time, but so is most things that people enjoy.
Similar story with me, maxed on osrs then one day I just woke up and realised the only thing keeping me there was nostalgia that was slowly being sucked out of it by updates and UI updates, I tried RS3 and I must say I absolutely love it, yes it’s not the nostalgic RuneScape I know, but it’s refreshing and fun and the community is amazing, as a newbie there I had so much help from players it was great, I still go on 07 from time to time to see what else is new but yeah, hopefully I bump into you on rs3!
Always great to hear from you and I agree with your feelings towards the game. F2p ironman still does it for me, though it's not the same feeling as OSRS release. That can never be relived. You could give RSC preservation a shot, or 04scape when it goes into beta sometime this year. Also the gower game coming out later this year.
If you don't have the time to keep going post max maybe it's a good idea to just let it go, to look back fondly instead of the eventual loathing you'll have if you invest a preposterous amount of hours again. The hardest thing is knowing when to put down the steam battlestaff
OSRS definitely peaked 2015-2017. 2013-2015 for the 'old school feel' players. So I'm quite confused why the playerbase is bigger now. Average person is late to the party I guess??
I don’t know you but i’ve watched your commentary videos for close to a decade, and i’ve always found them to be very thoughtful and comforting. This game is definitely a massive waste of time but it also has left such a big imprint on my psyche and I feel like you articulate what I find meaningful and worthwhile about this game well, as well as what’s bad about it. This account is cool and i’m glad you’re proud of it, i’m glad it exists too

I love both games for different reasons. rs3 is fun because you can just chip away at long term goals and osrs cos it's still very nostalgic hah
