I'll probably make the Tiny Tim on Christmas (It's tradition now) Unfortunately I don't think this (my HVAR video) is a great video. It has all the cool history points, but the War Thunder tutorial is garbage. Do NOT attempt to shoot anything that has even SOME armor. Light tanks and open tops will get completely destroyed. Everything else is invulnerable. I said in the video: "JuSt sHooT ThE rUUf!!11!" but that almost never works! The skill involved in consistently hitting the roof can be achieved, but it probably just won't do any damage at all. I think I kinda gave some bad advice here on the HVARs.
@@CrabbyPattyMoox I ones killed a Panther with sheere luck using the HVAR's. I was going To try and strafe the Panther in a F6-F5 but got my wing ripped off, so I just started to spray the HVAR', hit the Panther in the cupola and overpressured it.
@@CrabbyPattyMoox ive found it capable of killing panthers only if it strikes right at the ammo, it wont pen, but the explosion will be enough to detonate them
I really liked the note at the end where you said HVARs made you want to play warthunder, personally i was a 100% ground rb player until i saw a clip of someone using HVARs on the P47 to kill tanks and i thought about how cool it would be to kill tanks with High Velocity Rockets, so i grinded the P-47 and its rockets only to realize it takes alot of skill to get good with them lol

I usually just use rockets to destroy SPAA that might be dangerous if I don't get it the first time like the wirbelwind. You can also think of them as an extension of your MG and/ or cannon ammo so you can get a few more kills before rtb. For beginners, getting proper tank kills with them is very difficult as they require direct hits unlike on open-tops wich might be a better first target for them. If you are going for open tops only, he rockets are more effective. HVARs are multi purpose in this regard but some nations like Russia for example have separate he and aphe rockets. He with a larger kill radius and less pen and aphe with more pen and smaller kill radius.

HVAR's fly fast, far and straight- so you don't have to fly 5 meters above the ground risking getting shot down. Prioritize open tops - especially spaas. I used HVAR's to clear the ground with shots reaching beyond 1km killing wirlbels, 40mm bofors trucks etc. Overpressure really helps a lot.
Ive gotten a lot better at using hvars when farming antimechs for wagers with the am-1. each plane is different to aim woth hvars but the am1 has they all along the wing so i think its a good plane for practicing
The only thing I use the sight for is seeing here the front of the plane is. The sight barely helps at all. The best way to get good with unguided rockets is shooting as many as you can and seeing where they go. The exact way the rockets fires is different for every rocket. Once you have launched enough rockets to understand where the rocket is likely to go, then you can begin to aim based off of that. Using rockets is actually so annoying though. They don't fly in a straight path consistently, and direct hits are not a guaranteed kill. I wouldn't be mad if I didn't know how to use rockets very well, because I still don't! lol Good luck though man, let me know if you get any better.

My man using imperial measurement for the size of the rocket, then metric when saying the payload. Just to confuse the entire world at the same time XD

They are useless against tanks and its complete luck if you hit anything because they're unaimable. You can probably aim a little bit if your crew is aced out but I don't have the money to put into such a poorly made game so I wouldn't know.
They are absolutely useless against armored vehicles. However, open-top and lightly-armor vehicles get destroyed by HVARs. I really over exaggerated how good the rockets are. They really suck, and can be difficult to aim. But you CAN aim them.

@@CrabbyPattyMoox well I killed is 4s multiple times with the comparable Swedish hvars, as well as many panthers.
4:45 try setting gun convergence to 'No' and you'll see it makes the rockets fly straighter. (Possibly fixed since we tested it ages ago)
I did a very light amount of "testing" so I could have missed it.

I remember when they were as strong as the bullpups are now, you only had to hit close to the tanks and you got a kill. Good times

i absolutely cannot use rockets to save my life, the sight makes no sense to me no matter how much i try to use it
The only thing I use the sight for is seeing here the front of the plane is. The sight barely helps at all. The best way to get good with unguided rockets is shooting as many as you can and seeing where they go. The exact way the rockets fires is different for every rocket. Once you have launched enough rockets to understand where the rocket is likely to go, then you can begin to aim based off of that.
