Young Elephants, Timisa & Khanyisa Show Great Interest in Orphan, Phabeni!

- So many unexpected scenes fill this video today! This is the last video we will be sharing of the introductions between Phabeni and the rest of the herd, as the little bull has now moved on to walks with the elephants in the wild. Now that he knows them all so well! This will give him plenty of time to bond with some of the elephants he didn't spend as much time with during the introductions.
One thing is clear and that's that Setombe is taking Phabeni in as her own. No other female stands a chance at taking on the role of his mother with Setombe around. The eldest and dominant female in the herd, Setombe is being truly amazing in her affection toward Phabeni. She is blowing us away, day by day, and she continues to show up and support Phabeni with fierce, determined dedication.
In this third introduction, Khanyisa and Timisa really surprise us too! Both young elephants shower Phabeni with attention, their curious trunks making sure they make the most of their time with this new baby. This was the first time Timisa showed interest in the bull, but Khanyisa has been growing in her attitude toward the calf, and now seems totally smitten. Perhaps the three will be the best of friends out in the bush!
Matriarch Tokwe is also very present in these moments, keeping a watch over the action, as the original mother of the herd. At the end, Phabeni heads back to the orphanage for a milk bottle and some warmth and down time with Lammie and Spotty, and the herd head out into the bush for their wilderness walks with the carers.
Setombe, bless you, big Mama. You've gone the extra mile and won the heart of Phabeni. You even allowed the young girls in for trunk hugs. Wonders never cease.
😂❤❤❤
Ditto
Setombe is able to unleash her passion and love thanks to Phabeni and Herd! Beneficial hormones are releasing throughout her body.❤. Khanysa and Timisa have come a long way from kicking Phabeni on their first encounter, so sweet to see them together in acceptance and love!
Vero! Al terzo incontro hanno capito ..... ! Sono state intelligenti ,brave le 2 giovani!😊☺️
Kumbura is the reason they changed completely
Phabeni is so fearless 😍🤩 he walks right up to each of them like he belongs there ❤ thanks to all of HERD for looking after and saving the elephants we so dearly love
Lovely comment!! 🤗🧡🐘🙏
He really seems to be unphased by their huge size, compared to him.
😅 he just knows some of em have milk and is hungry,no fearlessness...just hungry n all momma's boy'd up cuz he knows one of the females gonna take care of him
@@reyvillegasjr166 The females don't produce milk. That's why he is bottle fed. The suckling is just for comfort. 🙏

Watching Khanyisa trying to offer her teat for suckling to Phabeni is adoooorrrrable!! She knows what to do from watching the females but when he tries to latch she's a little creeped out😂I'm also VERY proud of Timi getting over herself and choosing to be a Big Sister in stead of a nemesis. LOVE THIS HERD!!!
Wow you have eagle eyes! Slowed down I think it's a little monkey 😂

Absolutely. I was surprised, amazed and impressed.
Her loving nature comes thru every time.
Phabeni is too cute man, he looks like a little elephant doll, Setombe loves her little baby so muchour sweet Tokwe cant believe it either such unexpected events, but its all wonderful, baby loves his mama and mama is completely head over hills with him, so its all around a rejoice joy and just pure wonderful precious moments we wont forget Timisa is always sweet i love her so, and iam VERY proud of our baby khanyisa i am sure she will love him the same and will be playing with him soon enough iam in awe of her delicate touching him she has such a big heart our khanyisa is truly one of a kind, God bless you always sweet princess lots and lots of talking back and forward rumbles rumbles i love this wonderful rumbles they do, it gives me this comforting tranquility / serenity, this is such wonderful bonding, and so emotional, every baby needs their mother , and i never knew elephants loved their babies so so much i mean they LOVE more than anything being mothers and aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters to their little ones its what they love the most in this life, and man what a slap in the face to us humans we could learn so much from them, THEY know the secret of true happiness in this life, just wow, and thank you ALL
and congratulations Setombe youre a new mom now
😅😊Ha ha 😊😊😊😊ha is 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Watching Khanyisa trying to get the baby to suckle her too was so darn adorable. I wish my arms were big enough to hug them all. Precious precious babies all the them. 🥰
That was the sweetest thing. She even used her trunk to try to guide him to her nipple. How incredibly loving and sweet of her little self!
Yes, she's a little darling!
Phabeni is fitting into the herd nicely, Setombe and the all mothers will be lovingly raising this baby bull🐘💕🐘
Gg
The little albino one was trying to let Phambani suckle from her. Moved her leg forward. That was amazing given that she is still just a young girl.
This baby is so cute, I know he is going to be a huge elephant but when I see him running with those ears flapping I just want to hug him, thank you Herd for giving him a happy home
The Angels got Adine's boys there quick as, before those authorities could come in with their guns....it still shocks me to even think that they would have said this let alone do it! This baby boy and all the herd have wings protecting them!

It is amazing how carefully each elephant gracefully steps to ensure they are not hurting Phabeni.
It is so incredible!
Ikr? Their spatial awareness and agility is amazing ❤
I am so happy for Setombe. This is her moment to shine and to show what a good mother she is. And that she has. The dedication and love showered on her daughter Klaserie for 17 years has paid off. Setombe has a new reason to rejoice. And Tokwe and Lundi are well aware of this. Both of these elephants are gifted with a supreme knowledge of what to do and when and when to delegate responsibility to others. My Sweet and Beautiful Timisa💕 is starting to come around and this makes me very happy because I love her to bits.
Little Phabeni is surrounded in safety and love from human and elephant herd both.
I love them all. Setombe is amazing, no less Tokwe. So peaceful with Khanyisa and Timisa. Little Phabeni gets a lot of love and comfort from the herd ☺💕🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘💕. Thank you to all the carers ❣❣🌹🌹.

Timisa allowing Phabeni to suckle from her was amazing. She's so young yet she seemed so much more at ease with the suckling than some of the other females are, like Klaserie and Kumbura.
its a choice both Phabeni and Setombe made. He ran straight to her and she embraced him. He had been obviously spending more time with Setombe in the couple of visits before this one.
Each orphan ends up picking a favorite allomother. Klassarie seems to like he little brother lol !! Edit:Khanyisa is sweet natured. I think jealousy was over her two allomothers. Now Setombe is his pick she's like its all good now.
Il primo incontro è stato con Lundi.
Phabeni seems (wisely or instinctively) to want to bond with as many of the females as possible, to ensure his future security! How wonderful that Khanyisa’s earlier confusion and jealousy has transformed into curiosity and tenderness toward him. The little bull is going from strength to strength, supported by his human family and his acceptance into the herd. I think the latter in particular has nurtured his sense of belonging and fed his inner drive to thrive. I look forward to seeing what’s next for him! Thank you all for your life-saving work and for sharing these moments with us.

This video is truly amazing! To see Phabeni and Khanyisa together and to see Phabeni run to Septombe warms my heart. Today is American folk singer, James Taylor’s 76th birthday and one of his most popular songs from the early 70’s is “You’ve Got a Friend”, written by Carol King. Watching this video I can see that Phabeni now has many friends and I couldn’t be happier for him and all the elephants❤. I thank everyone at HERD for taking care of every single precious, loving and wise 🐘🐘 🙏🏽
Phabini still goes to Adine for reassurance. ❤ Very happy for Setombe. She has a new purpose in her life. Very proud of Khanyisa too. She was raised with love, and is giving back to her herd. The ellie's intelligence is amazing. Beautiful video.
What a beautiful photo that would be to have the 3 youngest next to each other
Khanyisa is almost the size of Timisa - growing by leaps and bounds-
Phabeni is a winsome baby elephant - he acts as though he belonged to the HERD
from the get go and they behaved accordingly with him - way to go Phabeni!!
👍👌
The Herd crew are doing a fantastic job and the channel is very addictive and educative so I am ready if I found an orphan elephant. I live in Denmark so chances are slim unless they start reviving mammoths 😂
Hej Jeg er også fra Danmark. Man bliver nemlig afhængig af disse skønne elefanter. Hvis du en dag finder en baby vil jeg gerne være babysitter, 😂😍

these adult ellies just warm my heart to see how protetive they are for a newcommer ! my heart smiles when phabeni is running with his blanket and the wind catches it then he has a scarf on so cute
It is, for me, exceptionally precious to witness these developing Love bonds between the beautiful Ele’s ❤ Phabeni had an open-buffet on offer today!! This is very special. Love and gratitude to you All at Herd 🐘🕉️💜🐘🌻🐘💜
The human population could learn a great deal from the Elephants , starting with courtesy and being polite. Phabeni rushes to meet Setcombe and the others know he is her baby so they stand back.
The more I see of animals the more I realise that although they don't speak any of our languages they still comprehend ,think, and communicate with each other as we do and us if we listen and look .
The joy that this site has given me and I'm not alone , is huge . Thank you Ellies ,Adine and all of the team it's a mammoth task executed wonderfully each and every day/ night . Thank you.
Perhaps it is because they have no spoken language that they understand (feel, sense) so well. All of their brain is free to sense with no words bothering them.
Setombe's delicate foot movements around Phabeni is very touching. She dotes on the baby. They are all attached to him. Khanysia seems so big next to him but she is still so tiny. Thank you all so much at herd❤
I love how Khanyisa is showing some allomother skills!💕
Phabeni is one itchy little dude. Oh, at the end, Phabeni waves his trunk as the herd walks away. He is part of the family now. Lucky boy! 🐘💜💜💜
BLESSED TUESDAY ADINE AND ALL HERD CARERS! 3RD MEETING WENT WELL! I COULD WATCH THE ELEPHANTS ALL DAY LONG!!! 🍀🫶💚🐘🦏🐾🐑🍼
Me too…
Setombe is such a great dedicated mom as seen by her devotion to Klasserie. Now she has found joy in "raising" little Phabeni. It was so nice to see Phabeni walk straight up to Setombe. She has given him so much love and acceptance and he knows it. Setombe is also very much a disciplinarian as she was very much in the hierarchy with the bulls so she knows how to discipline Phabeni if and when it is necessary. Although I'm sure Jabu and the other bulls Samopane and Sebakwe will be there The other mom Lundi and of matriarch Tokwe will always be there to support. Kumbura is showing that she's always ready to be an allomother. Such a giving young girl. It's wonderful to see the young girls Timisa and Khanyisa have a positive experience with Phabeni. They are showing great interest as well. Timi is so pretty! Those eyes are mesmerizing ❤️ Phabeni is truly in such a wonderful place now. Loved and protected by his human family and his HERD. Thank you Adine and carers for all that you do 🙏❤️

So well stated. Even all the bulls seem to taken with Phabeni.
Phabeni is like a bee🐝, going from flower to flower.

It’s one of the reasons I love this channel so much. There are a few other orphanages/sanctuaries/nature parks I also watch but none of them label or point out individual elephants. Like at Lek’s park, they tell many stories about individual elephants there but the video usually shows a couple or more elephants and I have no idea which one they are talking about. I would be a lot more interested if I could determine who was who, who the mom to that particular calf is etc. So thank you HERD team for putting in the extra efforts to identify them every time!
It's so interesting that Khanyisa, even as young as she is, showed the instinct to move her leg to let Phabeni try to suckle from her. I suppose it's a learned behavior from watching the other female elephants?
Khanyisa had a leafy branch in her mouth and dropped it right in front of Phabeni. Sharing her food like Timisa did with her?
Always knew Khanyisa would love phabeni, she was just a bit confused at the beginning. She has always been a loving little darling.
What a special time with Setombe and Tokwe hosting the young ladies. I am loving it! I watch a lot of elephants and I do not recall such a confident calf, particularly with a new herd! It is no wonder they are all falling in love with him! ❤
So wonderful to see our little prince surrounded by love and protection! Seeing his 2 older sisters, Pinky and Timi showering him with affection is off the charts! Blessings to all from California USA!
I'm a little sad that Lundi wasn't chosen by Phabeni and very surprised at Setombe. She's 100% into her new baby. So glad that Khanyisa is behaving herself with the little one. At 11.00 don't you just love the way he scratches his back leg?😅 Then at 11.50 he scratches his head on a big tummy.😅 What a joy to watch all these ellies taking care of Phabeni. He's such a brave boy. He went straight to Setombe when he joined up with them. Clever little boy. Thank you all at Herd for all you do.👍👍💖💖💖🐘🐘🐘🐘🥰🥰
Setombe must have really been smitten by him. He's doing fantastic and I'm so happy to see he's doing so well.

I love how small Phabeni looks when she is next to the large ellies. Its too adorable!!!
Setombe saw that lil boy and I honestly think she had been dreaming about a lil baby and when she saw him, just like most of us, she fell in LOVE.
It's nice to see Khanysia accepting Phabeni now.💖
He's got so much love!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mankind has everything to learn from our Elephant friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are all so protective of each other.. Phabeni is in heaven.. how great his life is becoming.. 💜🐘
guess my cat litter changing chores pale in comparison to these caretakers.
I know and I'll still complain about it. Wouldn't you hate to scoop this up?
Writing as one who in another life regularly drove out into country lanes to scoop up horse dung for the compost pit, I can assure you it is not particularly smelly, but it is really good for composting. I imagine the same applies for elephant dung. However, scooping up dog excreta, if you have not had time to take the hound for a walk - that is another matter entirely. Friends had 4 Bernese - their back garden could be indescribable at times.... @@cynthiadeese3861

Everything about this makes me smile! From Khanysa's big slow steps so she won't hurt the baby to Phabeni s constant back rubs under his mum's belly, to noticing that Phabeni is always being touched by someone's trunk making him know he is loved. It's absolutely magical❤
I've never heard of a baby elephant allowed to nurse from separate mothers out in the wild/bush. Pretty amazing at how many mothers Pambani has at HERD.
They do. It is called allowmothering.
You would try several mommas out too if you didn't get any milk! Good thing the humans are feeding him bottles round the clock, still nice that he gets comfort from suckling all the mommas.
Sono d'accordo.
Just think how astonishing it is that now KHANYISA AND TIMISA have been initiated into the HERD MOTHER role…both receiving the first suckling moments in their very young lives.
I'm seeing new movements from little Phabeni - using his hind leg to scratch, and some stretching. Everyday is new experience for this little one. He is learning quickly. And Khanyisa is doing so well with the baby too.
Thank you for sharing these magnificent images…elephants are such special creatures♥️🇨🇦
I know from following ENP and their Asian Rescued elephants, it is the baby orphan that decides whome they choose as their mother and whom they wish to suckle from. With Setombe, she has been a mum before and her boobs are obviously bigger giving baby a much easier suckle. I wonder if this is why Setombe was finally chosen by Phabeni? It would be interesting to hear more about this process on one of the Elephant Tuition Sessions. I also learnt on ENP how the mother swings her trunk like being done here encouraging baby to suckle and then the aunties guide baby to the "milk" and nipples. All of which is captured beautifully in this video. Nice filming Adine. Thank you.❤🐘♥️
